This is the only way to eat steak. Anything above rare is for faggots
looks like you just dunked it into boiling water, it has no browning on the outside.
also i like my steak well-done. i've tried high quality steaks from a bunch of steakhouses, and still prefer well-done.
i'd rather have braised short ribs or something though, that's been slow-cooked with soft fat.
School is starting next week and I can't stand eating sandwiches or salads anymore.
I was thinking of bulk cooking something like chicken and just eating it in different ways throughout the week. I mostly just want something that I can make beforehand and just stuff in a bag.
I don't have access to a microwave or fridge so it would need to be cold.
>in short, just need some easy cold recipes for school
bento boxes do fucking wonders my guy
plus its mostly served cold
Here's one that is around 1000 calories and 50+ grams of protein
4-5 medium potatoes, cut up and roasted
Can of black, pinto, or refried beans. Your choice
A little salsa
Handful of spinach
One cut up bell pepper
Mix it all in a bowl and wa la. It's pretty tasty and cheap. I'll put avocado instead of the pepper in there a lot. I like this recipe for school since I don't have to worry about any meat maybe spoiling before I get to eat
How about a delicious and nutritious smoothy in a flask. They'll love you for it!
. A 1997 study found that canned fruits and vegetables are as rich with dietary fiber and vitamins as the same corresponding fresh or frozen foods, and in some cases the canned products are richer than their fresh or frozen counterparts. The heating process during canning appears to make dietary fiber more soluble, and therefore more readily fermented in the colon into gases and physiologically active byproducts. Canned tomatoes have a higher available lycopene content. Consequently, canned meat and vegetables are often among the list of food items that are stocked during emergencies.
Do you eat you canned food, /ck/?
i used canned green beans to make fritters, and sometimes canned chickpeas to make with pasta and tomato sauce for a quick dinner.
i don't think canned food is inherently worse for you, but most people drain the liquid they come in and that removes some of the nutrition.
some canned food also has a lot of salt in it too.
i can my own meat, dry beans and fresh produce
it's about a brazilion times better than what you buy at the store..
eg: a bushel of tomatoes costs $10 at harvest and i get a years supply + some to give away.. no salt, no preservatives just delicious, cheap harvest tomatos
I'm looking at getting the annual challenge rolling in March, along the same schedule as last year. So this thread serves a few different purposes.
> Community Interest
I want to know if there's interrest for the challenge still. If there's only 4-5 people interrested it's a lot less fun.
If you're new to /ck/ and want to check past years, they are collected on the blog at : http://ckchallenge.blogspot.ca/

Forgot my name. I'm off to a great start in perfect form >_<
Anyways, here are the themes from the past years.
I work a rotating schedule, so count me out because I have like a week and a half of night shift every month and don't cook during those times, but as far as prizes go...why not have like a pool?
You pay like a buck or so on paypal to get in, and the OP buys the grand prize, which is sent to the winner.
Just an idea; probably would take more trust than is generated by 4chan though.
How can white people even compete?
any one use a thermapen?
is it good for candy making?
is it worth it?
my meat thermometer is an antique analogue one that starts reading at 130 and says rare beef is 140
>also a kitchen gadget thread
I recently bough these. They taste absolutely delicious, but they smell like ass. I mean, they LITERALLY smell like a freshly cleaned out ass. They both have this unique sweet-musky smell. What the fuck.
I can't stop eating them because they taste so good, but all I can think of while eating is ass.

Why are female baby boomers so fucking retarded... I wouldn't touch that shit.
Anyway, contributing with some classic food fails.
I don't even know what this is, or when I saved it.
Anyone have an awesome Lunchbox / Bentobox they can recommend? I'm looking for one that's at least:
I'm looking for a bento box, it cant be pinku (that's Japanese for pink) or any girl color. It has to be of 2 or more kotoba (that's Japanese for 2 compartments) and has be be chibi (small) sized. And has to be really kawaii (cute). Also It has to be about 10-20 bux. And you have to post pics of it first (i want to make shure it's kawaii [cute]). And it would be nice if it came with matching chopstick holder (WITH chopsticks). OH! and it CANNOT have any cartoon pictures, or be made out of plastic. It has to be made of ceramic, or something like that. Also...

I have a mostly full bottle of barbecue sauce I want to use, but no access to anyhting I could use to make barbecue. what kinds of things can I make to use this stuff on?
Dinner time! Today we shall be making ground beef stir fry!
You will need: rice, ground beef (or any meat you like), mushrooms, onion, carrots, ginger, garlic, leafy greens of your preference (I'm using kale & spinach), soy sauce, vinegar, red pepper flakes, sesame seeds and green onions.
More like this?
>Here's your tuna fish sandwich, anon
As opposed to what, a tuna bird sandwich?
How do you make your burgers?
I'm getting a little bored with my pepperjack, ranch burger and I'm looking for new ideas.
Changing the type of bread is the easiest way to change the taste. And if that fails, just throw some sweet potatoes fries on it.
It's a fucking hamburger, not a side-salad
