Thoughts on chicago style pizza?
Whats the best taco bell hot sauce?
fire is the only one that is remotely spicy/worth using. the rest have almost no flavor.
i feel like fire used to be hotter but they have toned it down for the gringos and niggers that frequent fast food establishments. when will their "extreme hardcore ghost pepper sauce only available by request" be coming out?
What was your favorite thing served in your school cafeteria? Said cafeteria food can be from elementary school, middle school, high school, and even college. Or if we have any senior citizens here from the nursing home cafeteria.
What's your favorite cafeteria food?
Mine always was an open face turkey sandwich.
How do you eat your eggs.
Usually sunny side up desu. I always used to flip them and make em all ugly, but then I learned to do it properly, and ever since I've been a sucker for that runny yolk.
I also make tamago once in a while, and I'd like to get more diverse and creative with omelets in general. Unfortunately I've got a crooked ass electric range (college) which makes it really difficult to keep egg from just running to one side of the pan. And the temperature control on electric ranges is garbage. Avoid at all reasonable cost.
What are these things supposed to be called?
What is this? A cook-along?
Microwaving a potato wrapped in wet paper towel because I forgot to and it's important
Whenever I eat lasagne I scrape the cheese off the top layer. I've never done this in public because I haven't ordered lasagne at a restaurant, but if I did I would scrape there too. I just really hate cheese.
Is this true?
Do any of you hold an actual "Chef" position; i.e. not a line cook, sous chef, etc?
How did you get it? How long did it take you?
I am a chef at one of Gordon Ramsey's restaurants in LA. Not executive chef but I will work up hopefully. I got the job initially because my dad new one of the people that does the hiring, and I got it right out of college.
Its been pretty awesome, I don't think I'm a very good cook yet but I am happy I deserved the chance to work here.
>go to five guys
>order bacon cheeseburger with a small fry
>no drink, just a free cup for water
>burger was tiny
Why the FUCK is allowed?
If it's not worth that to you then don't pay for it.
Wanna know why I like to eat at "overpriced" restaurants? I do it because there are fewer disgusting poor people with their fat, sweatpant-clad asses sweating all over the place and talking about prole-tier sports and TV in their uneducated trash-language. I'm paying to eat in a better atmosphere.
Go back to McD's where you belong.
It's about time I contribute something here.
I made some photos while cooking dinner for my wife.
We had hunter chicken with mashed potato, first time I made this.
I'm a crappy photographer, so be gentle.
first season the chicken with some salt and black pepper, be sure to get both sides.
i tried doing something fancy with the thighs and utterly failed lol
dice onion and garlic
drink a glass of wine and smoke some bud
Living far away from Texas, I always dreamed about eating USA styled ribs. Longly smoked then roasted on the BBQ.
A ribfest is taking place where I live and some Texans were there selling their meaty creations.
I was so deceived. The meat was dry and it was a salt bomb. It wasn't bad but definitely not worth the hype.
Also the coleslaw was actually a cabbage flavored mayonnaise.
>never had real stroganoff before - only instant hamburger helper kind
>decide to make the real thing from scratch with fresh mushrooms and white wine, real beef stock, real sour cream etc
spend a good hour making a gigantic pot
>take first bite
>it tastes exactly then fucking same as the instant box crap
fucking kill me now
What is happening with our planet?
Why are so many people anti soda? How shit must your diet be if you cant fit a can of soda in with a meal, which is like what 220 calories st most?
The theory is that soda is sweet and sweet things are enjoyed more by children. Adults prefer more bitter flavors like beer and bold red wine with their meals
That being said I love a nice Coca Cola and there are a lot of specialty sodas that have very interesting flavor profiles. I once had a cucumber rose water soda and it was quite the experience
You guys are expert in food, right?
Would /ck/ ever open a restaurant? What would you serve?
I have an opportunity to open a small eatery in a busy suburban town across from a courthouse. The thing is, I'm a vegetarian, I'd like my menu to be vegetarian, although I realize this would largely be a mistake. I'm having trouble justifying including meat though. I wouldn't claim to be a vegetarian eatery, I just wouldn't want to serve meat. What do?
Also, restaurant general
Well you can pretty easily justify including meat by remembering that most restaurants hemorrhage money out of every orifice, so you really need to be goddamned sure that a niche exists that make vegetarianism sustainable here.
I'm working on culinary school to open a reataurant someday
I think vegetarian/vegan is definitely doable but you want to not play it up. There are many many many different cuisines in the world that have a lot of really tasty, filling vegan and vegetarian dishes. Go from there and then don't even let people know it's a vegetarian restaurant. If the food is authentic and well made and not shitty and flavorless people wont even think about it lacking meat.
What are you drinking? What are you planning to brew? Any interesting find? Lets talk about these here.
Old thread at bumb limit
You guys recommend a upgrade path in equipment? Currently I use a cheap glass pot with flimsy infuser. I then transfer the tea to a cheap ceramic tea pot that I take to wherever I am sitting to drink. I have some nice double walled glasses I like. I am using a cheap plastic electric jug. I also am using a cheap digital thermometer that has a 5-10 sec refresh rate.
What should I save up for?
thoughts on gourmet grilled cheese? what are the chances of it lifting off just like gourmet burgers did?
What would you do with these ingredients, /ck/?
New al/ck/y thread
How are you bros holding up?
Was doing good, eating right going to the gym back on track. Now today I ended up puking in the liquor store parking lot getting over a hangover from last night and buying more booze. Also ate a large pizza
Anyone here tasted dog meat?
how was it?
What is the secret ingredient in all Indian food /ck/?
I think i know what it is,but i just can't put my finger on it.
What do you guys think about veganism?
Why is this shit on the top shelf next to Tanqueray and Bombay at my liquor store when it goes down like rubbing alcohol?
There's literally nothing wrong with Beefeater and Gordin's you pansies. The stuff in the price bracket below them is where the line should be drawn. Anyway, I'm poor atm so I'm drinking Chardonnay and tonic.
Final Round of the 2016 Challenge!
Here's the list of those who made the final 4, Congratulations!
Regular rules (timestamps and identifiers) still apply.
Please read the voting guidelines below. This round will go until May 20th.
Voting follows an 'Iron Chef' style scoring system. This means you, the people of /ck/, will judge each entry individually instead of deciding on what you feel is the "best" dish.
Dishes are scored out of a total 20 points, based on 4 categories (worth a maximum of 5 points each); Presentation, Originality, Appeal and Challenge Goals. You may award 0's if you feel the contestant did not meet your expectations for a category.
-Presentation: The appearance of items on the plate; plating skills

The theme of the final round is...(like always)
make us your one signature dish, the one dish to blow all of your competitors out of the water.
While you're perfectly welcome to make a large spread of food, please make sure there is clearly a "main dish" because that is what people will be voting on.
Only one will prevail! I will need a show of hands to know if this will be a cummulative score victory or a sudden death round.
ITT: Post where you're from, and food which is well known as being fucking great in/from your area.
I'm a professional cocktail Bartender in one of the top-three major cities in the USA. I've been slinging hooch for 10 years now and figured /ck/ would maybe like to pick my brain on booze, bar-tending, and the industry in General.
My specialties lie in American and Scotch whiskeys, with a preference toward Ryes. I have a good working knowledge of Italian/French Amari and Bitters, Vermouth, and other fortified wines.
I've worked at some extremely intense bars, my last gig had a full restaurant kitchen used for nothing but ingredient...

Is /ck/ a board for snobs, or do you enjoy some casual home food?
