Happy Chinese new year, /ck/. What did you cook to celebrate?
My girlfriend is Chinese, so had to improvise some sweet sour chicken, which as it turns out isn't Chinese at all.
What's your favourite chilli to cook with, /ck/? Pic related, mother fucking habanero. Also general chilli thread.
Newfag who thinks it is funny when he says something lame and laughs at his own joke. He doesn't get the subtleties of how others do it, how they make a stupid joke and wait for others to laugh at it
How does /ck/ make its batter?
I tend to make mayonaise every now and then and end up with a lot of eggwhites left over. Never really deep fried stuff very much before, so trying to learn to make good batter for calamari.
There are plenty of things to do with egg whites, but deep fried calamari isn't one of them.
>store overnight in seasoned cream
>dredge in seasoned flour
>a minute and a half in how oil
>dress and serve
Ok so I'm getting ready to cook up pic related with some mushrooms / onions / beef / spinach / green onion.
This is rated anywhere from 100,000 to 350,000 SHU, over 100x hotter than the korean challenge noodles you see on youtube which are around 14,000 SHU.
wish me luck.
I'm looking for the cheapest blender that can blend greens like kale, what do you guys recommend?
But seriously, a Nutribullet or Nutri Ninja will probably suit your particular requirement adequately.
But super seriously, consider a refurbished Blendtec if you like to cook other things. A good blender and a good mixer are the two countertop appliances most likely to improve your overall cooking experience.
My mother has one of those things. It doesn't even use blades, just flat pieces of metal. Pain in the ass to clean that actual section.
When it doesn't leak, it's pretty cool for making one portion of whatever.
Consider the quantity of food you'll want to blend before buying something like this.
I know you guys love Gordon, but no love for Jamie??
sure he doesn't have "awards", but he has made healthy cooking accessible for million of people around the world, all while being unpretentious and coming from a humble pub background.
So I've come to the conclusion that I'm addicted to food. I think about it all the time, I constantly want to eat even if I'm not really hungry, I sometimes go into the kitchen just to look at what's in the fridge or in the cupboards for no reason at all and it's fucking embarrassing. I never looked like pic related but I've been overweight my entire life. This year I'm turning 30 and it's perfect motivation to change my life.
In the last few years I've been trying to work towards becoming healthier. I lost 40lbs. I exercise and I'm on a calorie restricting diet that I follow for the most part. I want to drop about 15-20lbs more to reach a healthy weight for my height but I feel like it will be very difficult as I've been stuck at my current weight for a while now. I'm still addicted to food, I feel like if I change this then the last 15 lbs will be easy to drop. I don't want to be fat any more, I hate the way I look, I've always hated this. Somehow for whatever reason I've been healthy otherwise, no diabetes, no very high cholesterol, heart in good condition, just a fatass.
I'm not a picky eater, I like eating fruits and vegetables, this isn't some "cheesy potatoes erry day" person. I just eat too much. I feel like what's served in most restaurants is good enough for 2 dinners for me but I eat it in one setting and then a few hours later I'm hungry. I eat too fast and beyond my limit.
Even anonymously this is all embarrassing. I'm not some neckbeard, my life is generally normal, I feel like I missed out on some things cause of the weight issue but I'm not some shutin mouthbreather.
What should I do about this? See a psychologist? A hypnotist? Move to a secluded island in the south Pacific and hunt for my food?
I did actually a year or two ago. I have 3 people in my family with fucked up thyroids. My aunt once gained weight after only drinking water for a few days as fucked up as that sounds.
Yeah guess what, my thyroid is perfectly fine. Like I said, other than fatass I'm perfectly healthy.
I find this to not be the case. I get hungry after exercising.
Time to try something new
What do you think of Hot Pockets brand sandwiches
Do people actually eat these when they ARENT hungover?
>not sauteing your veges and adding shao hsing to deglaze the pan
I've never tasted a steak before. What do I do? I want my first time to be special.
I bought a bunch of fresh shiitake mushrooms with no real plan for using them.
I'm thinking risotto maybe, but do you guys have any other ideas?
steak and mushroom sauce or meat pie
