I can cook shit like pasta, rice, french fries, potatoes, pizza, spaghetti, sushi, varenyky but it's basic shit and a monkey with half brain and recipe can make them.

It doesn't work this way man. That six pack or one tall boy will trigger you and loosen your judgment just enough to go back and buy a fifth anyway. Then you'll wake up the next morning still drunk and now self-loathing, having drank the tall boy and whatever of the fifth your body could stand until you passed out. Then you'll probably start drinking the rest of it just to avoid the guilt, but it won't be enough so you'll go out and buy again.

How can Japanese people eat this shit. It's the most bland fucking thing I've ever eaten. Better yet how do they eat a bowl of white rice with every meal. That shit has no fucking taste. Don't even get me started on fucking anko. They put this shit in every fucking desert for the love of god why. It's so grainy and sweet and gross. The only delicious thing I've been able to eat here is fish and other types of meat. Everything else has been so fucking disgusting. Any suggestions on what I can eat here that doesn't taste like ass?

I'm sure people make it differently, but the ones I've been given are just a fucking ball of rice with a seaweed strip at the bottom. That seaweed is literally the only flavorful part of that whole bland thing. One time I got a pickled plum inside of it. It was fucking gross.

I'm in saver mode right now so I can buy my own apartment, my groceries usually consist of:

So unless I've bought ingredients to experiment with a specific recipe, my staple meals tend to be:

So I got one nice ribeye (Prime!) and I am wondering if I should bother putting herbs in it or just garlic powder, kosher salt, and pepper.

Rib eye is full of flavour, so just season it heavily with salt and pepper. If you're wondering if you've sprinkled enough, you probably haven't. Garlic powder should be fine but I'm not sure how it holds up to high heat searing.

Cook it as high as possible, let your pan heat up for ages. Cook it for 3-6 minutes depending on thickness, flipping regularly, but you can just make a slight incision to check doneness. Add some butter 90 seconds or so before you're done, and baste with some rosemary.

Leave it to rest for at least how long it cooked for.

The garlic powder can burn, and though I like that, it is clearly bitter when you do that. When I have a really nice (thick) steak that is lovely and fatty like a lucious ribeye, I give it a 10 minute marinade with a rub of sea salt, coarse pepper, and olive oil. I might give it a splash of worchestershire or balsamic vineger if it doesn't clash with my sides. A really nice steak might have me buying some mushrooms to saute, some gorgonzola for the top, I might buy some kerrygold herb butter. Sometimes I use some...
