I mean it's proof that you can't buy into the lore of your creation too much because no matter how you untangle it it will come off as a dangling banality. Once you lose the visuals in a visual medium it inevitably goes to shit.
Earlier issues had some outstanding uncanny valley moments due to Millidge being poor at drawing faces, everyone had wide fixed toothy grin and the women's faces came off frightfully distorted.
On hiatus for a decade and it took a decade to get to 18 meagre issues
Hell, he even wasted time on tearjerking bullshit (pilot "coming back") only to veer into fancy occultism. No wonder he's a Moore fan.
