Was it any good?
Continuing Essex County from here!
It seems like cartoons over the past ~five years have been getting more plot-centric, with focuses on grand arcs rather than self-contained episodes. What is your opinion of this? Adventure Time seems to have started the trend, with some rough growing pains, and Steven Universe is focusing heavily on world-building and setting plots in motion.
I'm going to write a serious answer:
apples and oranges.
We can have serious long plots.
We can have episodic little nice stories.
Both can be executed well or like shit.
"Trends" are temporary and we will never only have 100% one type or the other, so the sensible thing would be enjoying what we like and shut up.
Now that this is clear, we can begin the console wars.
What was so modern about his life?
What was the Legend behind Legend of Korra?
Was it about a pre-angsty teenage Avatar who refused to be wrong and threw tantrums when she was?
With the Star Wars comics selling WAAAAAAY more than they should, how long would it be before Marvel does this? In fact, would it be likely to happen within the next 5, hell, even 3 years?
And before you say it, Marvel originally said Ultimates and 616 would never crossover...
I'm willing to bet that they're already planning it.
Maybe even announce it with Episode VII's release. Baseless speculation of course, but knowing Disney/Marvel, they probably are already working on it.
Soon, and it's to make up for the fact their own properties sell like hot garbage.
The question is; Which universe will this take place in? I doubt 616 and I also doubt they'll use canon Star Wars content as well.
You know, Marvel's being pig headed about their Star Wars line. With a whole universe of characters, why only focus on the movie characters? There's a reason why the Expanded Universe was so cool. Making everything be extended stories of the movie cast just makes it feel really lopsided.
/co/ related ylyl? Screen caps and comics welcome.
Has it been long enough that we can put aside our personal opinions and appreciate how cool it was that CN actually let Jones make this show?
Will they ever do it again, or is it CalArts forever from here on out?
What creators do you look up to?
Who motivates you?
Pic related for me. I love most everything Brandon Graham has done, but his ideas and approach to comics, art and storytelling are really inspiring in my own work.
Which version do you prefer. The robot dinosaur man in Genndy's cartoon, or the vampire in the CG show?
I used to be all the original, but Nosferatu Grievous has grown on me. I just wish he was allowed to be more effective. It's also cool giving Dooku another vampire to hang out with.
I liked how much ass the kicked the Tart Greivous gave. He seemed more like a lethal weapon all but the jedi masters were able to compete with.
Vamp greivous had more dialog and "personality" if only we could have an amalgamation of the two, and it done well
Truly they were...super friends
Was the show actually good? I remember seeing this promo which felt like a classic 90s and that the show might be good, but I was disappointed and havent seen it since
pretty good stuff. occasionally about 75-percent-of-ren-and-stimpy-tier grossout retardery, but mostly making sense in the context of the setting. A solid precursor to adventure time, along with chowder. it was nice seeing cartoons that could be sweet and cuddly and take place in dirty dark dangerous scenarios
So let me get this straight.
Time travel works like literal loops or circles, things with no beginning and no end.
This motherfucker only got his powers because the trolls meddled with the human's session, and in particular with jade's sprite. They only did that because jack came into their session and ruined it with his powers. The powers he got from the trolls etc
Am i getting this right?
Yes. Time travel in Homestuck works in totally stable paradoxes.
Even when Hussie wrote in a get-out-of-jail-free card and gave a character the power to ignore the stable time loops it turned out to form another, even bigger stable time loop.
Find a flaw. Oh wait you can...
