July 23, 2004. Exactly ten years ago was when Channel Chasers premiered. No stream, sadly, but let's discuss it.
This movie was great, probably one of the best made for TV movies Nickelodeon has ever produced, but I have one or two big complaints about the ending. Mainly, I don't like that Timmy became a moron like his dad and forgot the way Vicky treated him. They also missed out a golden opportunity to show a MILF Tootie. Also the bogus thing about Timmy keeping Vicky around to keep him miserable.
By the time he was in his 30's by the end of the film he would've already lived out entire lifetimes due to the fact he wished himself to never age. By the time he got bored with that he would carry with him Methuselaic wisdom unfit for the mundane world.
>July 23, 2004. Exactly ten years ago was when Channel Chasers premiered.
2004 was also the last good year of Nickelodeon, if you ask me (90s fanatics will probably disagree). We got the last episodes of SpongeBob seasons 1-3, last episodes of Hey Arnold!, the last of SNICK (even if it had gone downhill at this point), and the SpongeBob movie.
Personally I think Nick died in 2005, when Nick Studios closed down, they un-cancelled SpongeBob, and started bringing in tons of shitty shows like Mr. Meaty, Unfabulous, Just for Kicks, Kappa Mikey, Zoey 101, and My Dad the Rockstar.
Though the quality of the show since then has become a bit... unstable, there still come along moments that make it all worthwhile.
Like flamenco Vicky.
I don't think people who have been shipping a couple for over a decade can really be counted to suddenly discount all that because a shitty drawfag looking for attention said otherwise. I sincerely doubt they'd quit at this point if Hartman himself tried to sink it.
This season i honest to god thought Hartman was going to have Vicky and Timmy become cousins or something equally stupid. just something of an unintentional effect that would ruin the shipping. like how they made cosmo and jorgen cousins for one episode.
There were so many plotholes and in the episode today they even completely redesigned remy's parents so that you could see their full bodies, and they looked stupidly designed.
I wouldn't call Trixie the worst girl. Missy takes that easily. She is so bland you'd think she was borrowed from Sanjay and Craig.
It was Tootie though. You don't have her do all heroic shit for Timmy in the movie and then suddenly turn around and have her worst enemy steal him out of the fucking blue.
Well excuse me for not liking garbage. Hey look at my funny parody! Bamily Fuy about Pootoor Grofin and his family! Haha! That's the joke!
>Timmy has a billion other things that make him miserable
>decides to keep Vicky because status quo, thus ensuring that people must suffer for all time under her, including people who dont have fairies to make them happier
Most selfish thing I've ever seen.
>Uh, actually, that's Vicky. Gara already confirmed that.
>fanart is noncanon
Yes, I'm well aware that when an artist has a terrible idea, he'll take it to the grave with him crashing and burning rather than admit a fault.
I'm a FOP thread after all. What do you think Hartman is doing with Poof and Sparky?
Except it's a funny idea.
>Vicky is the mother of Timmy's children
>he first knocked her up when he was 8 and she was 14
>he knocked up Vicky and Tootie's mom as well
It just gets more over-the-top with each installment, and even funnier is all the butthurt people who are taking it seriously.
I don't care for it.
>girl steals other girls man, she makes wacky anime faces
Feels like I'm taking a time machine back to 2006 Avatar.
Either way, I've only seen a few people speak out slightly against it, which immediately leads to circling the wagons and "HURR WHY CANT YOU TOOTIEFAGGOTS TAKE A JOKE!?!!?!?" which makes the ulterior motive of those pictures boil up to the surface awfully quickly.
Oh get off your high horse. You aren't above anyone here.
You probably aren't even white.
i never liked this show. sure, the cultural references were funny, but it seemed like the show was purely meant to repeatedly torture as many characters as possible. plus plot-holes out of the ass
I always assumed that Timmy fucked both Tootie and Trixie, and both of hem dumped his ass when they found out the truth, leaving Timmy with two accidents that he can't take care of.
Thats terrible, he's such a cool guy, Josh seems to be 100% enjoying his life and then I hear nothing about Drake unless it's something negative on 4chan
Garabatoz has been doing wrong, I'm sorry, I've always thought of him as a nice guy and a pretty cool artist, but his comic and his response to it have given me bad feels.
I don't like the character bashing. Him claiming to like Tootie isn't going to stop people who don't from reposting his art at the first sign of being able to annoy a Tootie fan, like what happened in this thread. It's just going to lead to more flaming, shitposting, and give ammo to people like the Anti-FOP brigade who feed off of that nonsense. Unless the series of comics ends with MILFy Tootie awakening from a nightmare, I don't see how her fans should support this, he draws her badly and treats her like crap.
But it's not character bashing. He's using Tootie's obsession with Timmy and playing it humorously. It's literally a Wile E Coyote like situation with Tootie playing the part of Wile.
There is absolutely no reason to take it this seriously. Gara isn't trying to assault you. It's just funny drawings. This is getting stupid.
Sage for no actual content.
I prefer thinking he:
A. With polyamourous, is probably married to Tootie but is Trixie's boyfriend
B. Had kids with Tootie, they didn't work out, he got with Trixie and they're her step kids
C. Had one kid with each at different times, they're one to two years apart in age
So, I haven't watched FOP in eons, but I loved this movie when it came out.
I can't remember most of the plot now though, although my favorite part was all the animation-references.
Has time moved forward or progessed at all in the FOP story?
I've heard that the time-actions FOP movies are canon, and what I've seen of them kind of sucked.
>Has time moved forward or progessed at all in the FOP story?
You don't want to know the answer to that, trust me.
>I've heard that the time-actions FOP movies are canon, and what I've seen of them kind of sucked.
Don't worry, they're not canon.
>You don't want to know the answer to that, trust me.
The wait you phrase that makes me think there have been some retcons or something...
Just give it to me straight anon, I'm a spider-man fan; I'm used to swallowing tough pills.
You can't be serious...right? You're pulling my leg Anon, you have to be
wait since there's been a ton of episodes AFTER that one does that mean he found yet another way to stop time from moving forward?
they're still stuck in limbo only they don't know it because they think the wish has been undone
>Don't worry, they're not canon.
Has there ever been any proof of this?
Because, from what I've seen this season,, they've ruined continuity just as badly in the cartoon since Sparky has been introduced.
I mean, if it was non-canon, surely Butch Hartman would've come out and said so, right? Otherwise, I have to assume the people saying that are just butthurt Trixie or Vicky fanboys who are mad about the movie implying he winds up with Tootie.
kinda funny how hartman makes cosmo go through male pregnancy to have a baby that looks nothing like the previous fairy babies we've seen, or how timmy is the chosen one who must battle the ancient evil that awoken, or hartman making it so timmy loses his fairies at age eleven no matter what (what is the point of the anniversay muffin then?), all this barely registered a peep from fans of this
but he makes one movie where adult timmy and adult tootie kiss and suddenly everyone cares about canon. its fucking hilarious and sad at the same time. if you people had more loyalty to just your ships and spoken out against shit like the above instead, maybe hartman wouldn't have kept bungling this cartoon so much.
I feel for the guy. Hope his situation gets better in the future and we'll see him in stuff that he actually wants to do.
Or he could just pull a Frankie Muniz and fuck around for the rest of his life.
The series ended with Channel Chasers. Everything after is just fan fiction, in consistency, continuity, and quality, and are equally disposable.
Except perhaps Megan Bacon. Yeah, let's keep her.
That I can get behind.
If we're going to cut canon, let's not focus on one little ship sinking, but rather the countless other lore raping, character ruining, tryhard to be surreal episodes that we've been getting since Hartman took full control.
>If we're going to cut canon
When a show so disregards its own story lines, it gives us free reign to be equally selective.
The latest episodes aren't just non-canon, they defy story logic within each episode. Love at First Bark was the worst offender. Timmy wished his dad would fall in love with a dog, which breaks a rule that the fairies would recite just moments later when Timmy tried to undo the wish. For the first wish to have worked at all implies that his dad does not feel true love toward his mom. That would be some hilariously dark humor if it were intentional, but we all know it was just shit writing.
I thought this thread was going to be about the show...Not about waifu shit. I was wrong....I was terribly wrong.
From my career of sitting in FoP threads and waiting for smut to show up, I've noticed there's always this one guy that really, really likes Tootie and gets really mad and depressed about artists not catering to her. And there's also quite a few people that get really mad any time Trixie gets brought up; not sure why. For some reason the show attracts these people like flies.
Then again, I don't even watch the show. There's some weird appeal to sexualizing the designs.
The writing has been low quality because this entire season is a rush job.
It was a pretty big production order to begin with, yet they seem to have been given a limited time to do it. Every episode is the same five or so characters, meaning the same voice actors, meaning less recording sessions and people to pay and such.
The biggest and most hilarious flaw has been the way they handle the magic users. Poof and Sparky in particular. Poof just has this tendency to disappear, without explanation. Sparky is sometimes nowhere to be seen but just shows up at some point the episode to remind the viewer he exists. They have no consistency to how they handle the rules with the fairies, so there is no suspense when something like Timmy losing his fairies or them being unable to grant a wish happens, because in the end Sparky or someone else can do it... unless they conveniently get written out of the episode.
It's a damn shame. The animation of this show has gotten better, the environments and settings are actually well detailed in many cases, but the writing and pacing is just absolute shit. Worse, Hartman just refuses to admit the problems with the writing, if you follow him on twitter he just flat out dismisses any such comments.
From my career of sitting in FoP threads and waiting for shitposters to show up, I've noticed there's always this one guy that really, really dislikes Tootie and gets really passive and aggressive about posters not hating her. And there's also quite a few people that get really annoyed any time my retarded character white washing theory gets brought up; not sure why. For some reason the show attracts these people like flies.
Then again, I don't even watch the show since having a neutral viewpoint makes my post stronger. There's some weird appeal to pretending like I'm not just a bitter shipfag.
>It was a pretty big production order to begin with, yet they seem to have been given a limited time to do it
That makes very little sense given how long Nickelodeon stretched out the previous seasons. It took them 3 years to finish airing season 7, and one year to air 6 episodes of season 8. Perhaps we have a real life Cosmo in charge of scheduling.
This segment really bugged me when I was a kid.
Apparently, the most mild of cartoon violence is too much for teh childrenz to handle in this day and age. Let's allude to this with a shitty gag.
It was especially jarring when you could just turn to CN and actually fucking WATCH Tom and Jerry.
I thought they were poking fun at their own censors on Nickelodeon.
Most violence in FOP is accompanied by classic Batman-esque BANG screens and then showing the aftermath of the hit.
Though Timmy has lopped the heads off a couple of monsters, and Kitty Katswell... I guess Nickelodeon has actually loosened up since Avatar.
personally I cut off at just before Wishology(cause that was just awful), with exceptions made for a couple characters introduced afterwards(Missy, Megan Bacon being the only ones off the top of my head)
Grey, you should've been telling Hartman to give Tootie more roles in the show. Live action isn't good enough.
Wishology was... ugh. That was the first point where I had become disillusioned with this show. I had even tolerated Poof up to that point somewhat.
i mean could it be any blander
>yay! he gets with the rich girl! and ends up super rich! ALSO HES BATMAN
kinda goes against the morals of this show anyway, that the best looking option isnt always the right one
Reminder that this is a thing that is happening next week.
the girl who plays tootie is so cute. drake looks fucking photoshopped though
this doesnt really bug anyone except the shipperfags who were screaming NON-CANON.
i dare say its even better than the cartoon is now.
>i dare say its even better than the cartoon is now.
You say that like it's hard.
Off the top of my head, the only Poof-and-onwards episode I genuinely like is Bad Heir Day. Crocker was surprisingly human there.
>Man yells at cloud.jpg
Also, any more art of sexy chub Tootie?
Look at him, this isn't a role he enjoys doing, or even one he wants to do. He needs to, in the way that most need to work 40 hours minimum wage. He NEEDS this money. His music career never took off, he never became a teen idol, a failure that he is obviously bitter about, judging by how much he makes fun of Bieber on twitter. He's half a million in the hole, he would need to Timmy turner for more than a decade to make even a quarter of a mil, and doubtfully even that much.
Atleast Josh Peck is doing well
Didnt you see how trixie shared so many interests with Timmy, like comics and stuff?
For all we know she was just following the social system but inside that wasnt really her.
You dont need to end up with the rich girl, but if you do because you share many things with her that both of you are passionate about then well... its better than the first child love for the rest of yer life.
>fat as fuck, has no skills and is bullied constantly
>known as "that funny fat kid on Nick"
>now a handsome, fit, wealthy adult enjoying his life, riding the popularity gained from Drake and Josh
>mfw the first lyrics on his new album is "Taxman's takin all my dough"
There is no such thing as "alternate timelines" or "canon" in an episodic cartoon like this where they can't even keep the damn rulebook coherent. You've been listening to the shippers too much.
How many more episodes in season 9 because between Missy and Megan the show seems to be making up characters just for the hell of it.
>that Denim jacket
Those truly were different times, and he looked so happy back then.
Get with the times gramps. People don't come to /co/ to talk about cartoons.
yup, and Megan Bacon is a new character who's revealed to be a former godkid of Cosmo and Wanda, and the owner of the Cake and Bacon restaurant that's been featured in the show a couple times before, and through Timmy screwing with Time Travel again, he briefly alters history so she becomes a Super Villain instead, although he eventually fixes things back to normal
I CAN'T EVEN
I WANNA WATCH THIS
EPISODE TITLE, PLEASE
>Hartman took full control.
It's one of those scenarios?
Who was in charge before?
The series sounds like it could use a hard reset at this point, but I don't remember if there really was "continuity" before....everything was really episodic, and I hated that.
Wow, I'm actually sorta surprised they made a callback to the Cake and Bacon restaurant, even though I only remember it in one episode. So was the episode overall well executed or was the character just really likable?
P.S. these comics are pretty entertaining, keep em coming.
from what I've heard it was decent by modern FOP standards, also these comics were done by Yoto, and I'd post more but I need to get some sleep
>watch today's episode
>mfw Poof disguised as a human in Anchor's Away
That just ain't natural. At least everyone else on the show arguably has necks.
He WAS (as in, was 17 in 2004)
Do you even reading comprehension?
the live action movie will be better than the new season i think
I fucking loved this movie, too bad it would NEVER fucking air in my TV, and there was no DVD release of it that I know, or that I had the money to buy.
Man, Fairy Godparents did hit the shitter hard, didn't it?
Yeah, there's a fuckton of muscle growth in FOP. If I ever had the time and attention span, I'd go through the whole series and create a collage of every time it's happened.
Channel Chasers would have been a damn good finale to the show.
Its a shame really.
>no Tootie being aged up by the remote
>no Tootie getting muscle growth by the remote
>no Tootie in the bad future being a sexy Dot Matrix-esque resistance leader
>no Tootie in the good future being a MILF because it would hurt the widdle shippers feewings
It was a let down, in retrospect.
>no Tootie getting muscle growth by the remote
She probably would've been in a loose-fitting outfit like Vicky.
Besides, if she was in the TV with them, who would be exposing the truth about Vicky to Timmy's parents?
Cosplay as characters that reference their voice actors.
This would have been a suitable finale for the show if it ever came to that.
The only major complaint would be a decent portion of the cast not getting screen time/closure, but considering the current state of the show that isn't going to happen anyway.
