i will return
I'll take a look at it after I'm done this. I know they fight Ock.
I appreciate the sentiments, but not sure how much longer I can do this. Depends on many financial factors in my life coming up, need to find a way to pay the bills.

There's always Patreon.
>Pledge $5 a month and get your name listed in a post
>Pledge $20 and get a comic of your choice scanned
>Pledge $100 a month and get that scanned comic mailed to you directly
I dunno, that has always seemed like begging on the internet. And I'm no Anita Sarkeesian.
I can check other books once I'm done the storytime. I've only got so many hands.
Yes, that too. I'll keep doing this as long as I am able and there is a reason to. Who knows, it might last a lot longer, but probably not.
(I don't care if people post pics in my storytimes as they are always just a single issue.)
I was kidding, but I think Patreon is more like crowdfunding a person versus a project.
If you're comfortable sharing with us, how bad are your finances looking?
Personally, I'm wondering if they're trying to go for the "Harley Quinn" audience, with the comedic tone and the talking head cut-in in >>69738836.
FRANKY MY MAN
It's more that I need to find "real work" than working a little here and there at a comic store. Finding real work means no more working at the comic store, which means no more early storytimes. Maybe. Maybe not.
Well, you may have enough clout by now that if you're like "Hey, I can't really get to the comic store on Wednesdays now; is it possible to get in on Tuesday and buy some issues early?" they might let you get away with it.
Good luck on the job hunt, though.
Yeah, that's probably what will happen. We'll see. Just not counting on that. Or maybe I'll find a girlfriend and have no free time for this. (hahaha)
>miles cant stand on his own and had to steal peters cast
not trying to derail this thread but Peter's cast appearing is literally the worst part of the book ask any fan of the book
>Peter's cast appearing is literally the worst part of the book ask any fan of the book
Nah, man. I like Gwen's interactions with Miles. Plus she looks good when drawn by David Marquez.
>vandalize the city
Yeah, very heroic there Gwen.
>and you read turrible comics
>they have to shit on her to shill gwen more
Fucking Quesadilla and Dan's Ass Slott and the raging infection currenlty in charge at Marvel - they have to continue to shit on MJ even in an alt universe? Fuck them with a chainsaw. Hard.
Next issue, Spider-Man webs her leg to catch her and she snaps her neck.
>This book exists because of you.
Okay, which one of you was it?
Spoilers for other books in a little bit. No more scanning tonight I think.
>Next issue, Spider-Man webs her leg to catch her and she snaps her neck.
no bro, she can snap her own neck, she doesn't need no man
and the art on Spider-Gwen is worse than Silk too, what the fuck is going on
I like it. At the very least it's not a 1:1 of Peter's type of ribbing, which is sort of what Silk does (I sort of hope her writers address the way she is aping Peter in a lot of ways even if she doesn't consciously want to.).
Thanks for sharing, Scanbro. I hope everything works out for you.
This issue didn't impress me, but neither did her first appearance. I'll give it until the end of this arc before deciding whether or not to drop it.
No, see, if I were Slott, I'd think this was well written because I would be practically illiterate and unable to tell good storytelling from bad.
Like you, apparently.
This was mediocre. Gwen is unlikable, the dialogue is trying way too hard to be cool with the kids, and the art is barely Deviantart level.
Silk, on the other hand, wasn't great but it was a more successful first issue than this one.
Bleeding Cool has never done anything other than mention me. They know nothing.
Mayday's mom is still alive. Dad isn't. She is "not a girl anymore" and will be known as Spider-Woman from now on, and wear his suit. Most everyone else goes to their home timelines. Otto starts dismantling the Great Web as he wants to control his own destiny. They fight Otto. Peter beats him and sends him back in time. Spider-UK's home dimension doesn't exist so he can't go back.
You morons know Sloppy Slott of Sloth originally came up with the idea for Spider Gwen when he was pitching Spider-Worse and he's one of her biggest cheerleaders, right?
I've no doubt Slott is on /co/, but get your shitposters straight next time.
>Spider-UK's home dimension doesn't exist so he can't go back
No mention of him that I noticed. They talk about the team of Spiders that will be in that upcoming comic in the new solicts, the one with Spider-UK and Spider-Ham and Spider-Gwen etc.
...Curiously, Ron Frenz did bring up in a podcast that Marvel wanted Mayday to become Spider-Woman years ago when they were going to launch Arana initially, but they got cold feet and decided against it.
/co/ nufig here
I don't read Spider-man and know diddly dick. But the little shit I picked up on based on reading other comics, well... What the flying fuck is going on? Is this 616? Captain Frank Castle?
Also, I don't normally read scans. Isn't this not out yet? How does OP have scans?
Spider-Gwen is kinda meh. Honestly though Gwen only matters in how her death developed Peter and MJ and was the catalyst that eventually got them married. Other than that Gwen's really kinda dull and really is only interesting in how she interacts with post NGSD-Peter.
People only started really liking Gwen because of Emma Stone's portrayal.
like lets not kid ourselves here, MJ has always been the one mainstream spidey shit has mentioned before the ASM movies and Gwen was either never brought up or relegated to second potato like in the Raimi films. in the original comics Gwen was boring and dull and was only around to be Peter's armcandy.
Emma Stone playing Gwen revived her relevance and popularity, no question about it. Poor MJ is now the one getting shoved to the sidelines.
Exactly. There's actually a clue in the very issue where "put through the wringer" is spelt "put through the ringer" when Peter is talking to Mayday, not even Slott thinks this is Tom's version he was tackling, that or it was a light "right back at you" for Tom trolling him in team-up issue three
>Poor MJ is now the one getting shoved to the sidelines
More like lined up against the wall and shot. Between becoming an attention whore bitch in this title, the way Slott took a dump on her in Amazing, and all her alternate versions in Spider-Verse watching her lover die horribly before her eyes or getting killed herself, it's not a good time to be MJ.
>pandering to the more obnoxious aspects of modern teenage girl culture is the only way to sell your non-tradition capeshit book
I really wish this wasn't a thing. It's not bad but when this level of pandering to a specific demographic sells more then actual good storytelling you know something is wrong
This was terribly average, with a dash of feeling a bit below. Why were people hyped for this again? I'm asking honestly, because I just don't get it. For being the main character, Gwen just doesn't feel all that center stage in her own book.
>Frank HAS to show up
Meh, at least Marvel is giving their fans what they want, this does nothing for me though, hopefully they make him a better character in this universe than he's been in every other universe.
Young 616 MJ was self-centered, but she wasn't a raging asshole. And this certainly isn't an on point representation of 616 Gwen.
Besides, this MJ is right. Gwen quit the band and disappeared. Why MJ is the asshole fucking up the band and Gwen the quitter isn't is beyond me, yet "Glory is right."
Blame Scott Lobdell and Carlos Pacheao
Young MJ wasn't a musician. Being serious about a music career absolutely mandates this sort of behavior even from otherwise saintly people.
By contrast, young 616 MJ was trampy and attention hungry- she had a really, really rich boyfriend with a sweet apartment and her pick of all the hunks around, but she couldn't leave Peter Parker alone to dote on Gwen because she just needed that attention, even though anyone could see he was bound to tie the knot with her.
No, other than being a musician this is pretty much spot on.
Usually bandmates are like that when there are underlying problems, which tends to make "the last straw" appear lousier than it might be. Probably MJ had an ego trip going and Glory was pissed off already, so the fact that MJ was a bit self-righteous there made her blow up.
But yeah I wouldn't have begged Gwen to come back.
I think you mean Scarlet Spider. And that was Yost, and well over 2 years ago.
Slott is a fag who drops characters on a flip of a coin. What was the point of showing Julia's family life so much if you just comatose her and her daughter vanishes?
She wasn't a lead singer, but she was a dancer and aspiring actress. And she still wasn't a raging assoholic the way she is here. She was an incorrigible flirt, but Gwen never seemed too bothered by it.
But this isn't the Silver Age and this Gwen has nothing in common with 616 Gwen other than a headband. So why make MJ just a shrill one note jerk, unless they feel they have to in order to make Gwen shine even more?
Eh, whatever, it's not like this book is going to last more than 12 issues, especially with Secret Wars interrupting whatever momentum it manages to build.
Well because she's just your stereotypical teenage girl? Instead of really having anything compelling to her? It could've been made to work, there was potential, but really the writer is the most at fault. I actually believe Bendis's Ultimate Spider-Man: Miles Morales is actually better than fucking Spider-Gwen, and that book is pretty boring.
Spidey's still one of the better characterizations we've had in a while and of course it feels like a teen book because he has to deal with teens.
I like this and I like whoever's writing this so I buy it, fuck Slott.
Dumping preview of #3, looks excite
I would actually really like to know the entire roster for a team like that...given that the fucking Ringer is in that pic, I'd love to see who else they'd trudge up from obscurity
This book is turning into another Superior Foes for me! I just love it so much!
Shit's good, definitely worth a buy.
>Hating on everyone else
Thank you based Lieber
Oh that's cool, no biggie.
>jumping in and out of portals
>Spidey forgetting about radiation
>One panel fights/spiders killed off
>Killing spiders off panel
>Slott's OC saves the day
The only fun parts of Spider-Verse weren't written by Slott.
Most of the Edge of Spider-Verse issues were fun reads. I liked Scarlet Spiders more than anything else out of the main Spider-Verse event.
"Every Spider-Man ever being hunted" could have been way better if we'd gotten actual fights on pages, Spidey-banter and good interaction between the different Spider totems.
It had some enjoyable moments though, like the bottom panels in pic related.
I didn't like how Peter didn't give a single shit about anybody else than Silk and occasional Gwen & Mayday. The other thing that make me grit teeth is usage an uselessness of non-main spiders and the shity rushed ending, godamit Slott you had 6+ issues to sort this out.
The only thing that makes is good about this event is the edge of spiderverse and the new Gwen issues.
Squirrel Girl has sold absolutely shit. I think #2 sold 4 copies. In comparison, our best seller is Batman that sells 40-45 copies easily.
Silk sold better, about 15-20 copies I think. Nobody really asked for it though. Spider-Gwen a lot of people asked for, so we'll see how it does.
>Squirrel Girl has sold absolutely shit. I think #2 sold 4 copies.
>issue #1 sold 41,693
heh, hopefully the failure of this and 2014 Ultimate FF will teach Marvel that people don't want to read crap.
Yeah, the only people buying Squirrel Girl are our Marvelfags that buy everything Marvel. No girls are buying it. We do get some girls in the store, but we've had some scared away by autistic customers too.
Silk, Spider-Gwen and Spider-Woman won't all survive, probably just one will. Sales on Spider-Woman are shit too, but better than Squirrel Girl. Most customers are disappointed by all the costumes being changed recently like Spider-Woman and Angela, etc.
>Most customers are disappointed by all the costumes being changed recently like Spider-Woman and Angela, etc.
b-but muh practicality and less objectification of womyn!
Spider-Woman's isn't TOO bad, but Angela's is straight up shit
issue #1 was shit,up to 5 it was okey (I adore ever word that U Doom says) until the moment Sue
attempt to rape Reedand on the last issue he just given up any hope on continuing the story.
It doesn't seem to be the art. People don't know (or care) who Squirrel Girl is. She's been mostly a background type character, so who the hell would be hyped about her getting a comic? The art doesn't help of course. Mainly the faces.
Yeah, Issue was shit, I think what pissed me off the most was that Fialkov was handed a not-so good artist, and made Iron Man's armor piss easy to destroy. Only near the end did we get kind of a better artist, one who was less of an eyesore. It should've just been fun adventures, with a good artist in tow. Fialkov did great on Ultimates Disassembled. Even if there was that lame-ass retcon of Ben's rock form.
>This book exists because of you
That's fucking bullshit. Spider-Gwen was getting a book like immediately after she showed up in Spider Verse. Don't pin this on us. We wanted Supaidaman.
i think the most annoying thing about it is spider-gwen, as an idea, isn't very inspired. it's just "gwen got bit instead of peter." it's the world-building behind it that really makes it cool. matt being an anti-hero, frank working for the cops, peter being the lizard and so on.
One thing I noticed when her issue first came up was someone saying that the universe was interesting, given that Matt Murdock either works for the Kingpin, or was the Kingpin himself (I don't remember which).
I wasn't too big on this whole Spider-Gwen thing, but I actually liked this. It was nice and simple, like a teen hero book should be. Reminded me of early Spider-Girl issues, albeit with a little more emphasis on being 'hip' and 'with it'.
