GALACTIC KIDS NEXT DOOR RULES!!!
You've all aged seven long years since this show went off the air. You are free to live your lives.
So, do they want us to beg Cartoon Network or what? Honestly, if there's no plans for a new series, I don't think CN will give a damn about bringing it back. I was a kid when KND was a thing, and even then, I didn't think it was all that popular, not with my buds in school, not with my younger siblings, etc.
I wouldn't mind seeing GKND, and I will sign the petition, but I honestly don't see it happening.
well it was a parody of many things, and something too childish to seriously care back then.
but it grew in many people, a lot, is one of those series, recognizable characters and shit.
But isn't Toonami just a block where they show series already done? I mean, from what I gather, they still show the same shit they showed back then, OP, Naruto, Inuyasha, Cowboy Bebop, etc. Even with new shows like KLK, it's already sort of safe, since they can monitor what would be beneficial for the block.
GKND would be a brand new project, which would require them to foot the bill for a show which CN's current demographic might not be into. KND parodies a lot of thing in pop culture, from spy novels, to toy-pushing 80s cartoons. I think a lot of the jokes in KND was lost to those who watched it while it aired. At least, personally, I can tell you I appreciated KND a lot mroe now than I did when I was in junior high.
What I'm saying is, I think it would take a lot more than a few hundred thousand signatures to get KND back on TV.
I think it's gonna is an towards the Adult Swim audience (see Numbah 3 saying fuck in the second teaser) that and it would better for to be an Adult Swim thing to show to fans of the show than market to kids and fuck that up since kids wouldn't care about KND and would be given a bullshit timeslot and doesn't have the hipster feel like AT SU and isn't random humor like TT Go and Uncle Grandpa
Get a Viral reddit/imgur post on it. Get it retweeted and someone to make a tumblr post that'll get notes and like Kotaku or some other news site that would write an article on it to write an article on it. Only way.
It's been some time since I've been this hyped over something. I feel like a kid again. How apropos.
Good question. Maybe time distortion because of light travel or whatever? Who knows.
It wasn't a prank. Chances are CN didn't give G:KND the greelight.
Hence, Numbuh 4 at the end of the new video, "There are no plans for a Galactic Kids Next Door series... But thanks for helping us try!"
We need to upvote these posts on reddit to help spead awareness
I don't really care if the show get's a sequel or not.
I just want to know the plot behind this video
>Lizzie and that other kid was an alien all along
>Everyone has to evacuate Earth for some reason
>Numbah 1 is a bad guy now
Don't leave me with these massive cliffhangers
>Lizzie and other guy are secret operatives for Galactic Kids Next Door, they recruited numbah 1 to fight galactic adulthood, numbah 1 has to make the decision to blow up earth because it's infested with adults
>The show will focus on Sector V trying to persuade Numbah 1 to be good again
>Numbah 1 will probably be a massive edgelord until they somehow convince him that destroying the planet is bad
Nah. Nah. Nah.
I have no idea whats going on.
I thought KND was getting a reboot but its not except people are trying to get a reboot going on?
There have been some leaked videos of rough animation of what looks like a possible sequel series or movie called Galactic Kids Next Door. All the original voice actors have returned in each of these videos.
What do you imagine is worse: no closure at all, or shitty closure? Would you rather have a Hey Arnold scenario where everything's blown wide open before ending for good, or a Danny Phantom scenario where you have a definitive albeit entirely unsatisfying ending?
Has anyone else every gotten letters after they pressed the nose button?
I get S, M, N, etc.
Got this messed up one.
Hey OP, thanks for posting the petition. I'm the creator of it. So far we've got quite a few signatures in only a few hours. This is really fantastic. It may not work, but we can really just do what we can to help.
Not fucking. But why are they showing up at random in the ear?
I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing that it's gotten to this far
On one hand it's good to see that 1000+ people want it back, but also kinda bad that only about 1000+ people so far want it back even after the
"hype" and video views from the youtube stuff and what marketers would've hoped through word of mouth and social media would've reached a lot more people
I'm sure it'll go up more since the petition was only made up late night and stuff, but I'm a bit iffy on how high and meaningful or discouraging the numbers will ever be from a business's pov
I don't like it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Big KND fan here, but I don't like the concept of this. The series was amazing, and that's it. And it has an amazing finale! What more do you want? Just let it rest, you guys.
>an amazing finale!
As much as I enjoyed it, it was quite a fucking cock tease for people who enjoy the lore.
Calling it now.
It's a test of loyalty to see if Nigel would destroy earth as the G:KND had ordered. And he disobeys them....but for the right reasons, so they allow him in because he made the right choice.
>Sector V is listed as planetary decom pending
>362 is a fugitive
>Maurice is listed as highly dangerous
>Lizzie and 74.249's earth mission is complete
>Numbuh 1 is trial pending and 274 is captured
>Delightful Children are classified
>0 is unkown and Father is DANGER DANGER DANGER
God all of these teasers are already hyping me up for another season of KND we might not even get.
So it seems like Sector V might already be in trouble with the GKND since their decomissioning is listed as pending, unless the planetary decom means that they're going to destroy the planet.
Also 362's description is also a very interesting plot point. She's the Supreme Leader of the KND of earth and yet she's a fugitive now and they're searching for her. Maybe she could be trying to infiltrate the GKND to bring Nigel back?
Numbuh 19th Century
>Needs To Get With the times
>ease up, girl
>Do Not Make Mad
>Still has a bad haircut
>Hiding Video Games under his bed
At this point, it could be that there's no new material to do and we're just left with rehashing old series, possibly for nostalgia bucks.
Sort of like what Disney is doing: rebooting old shows, possibly for nostalgia bucks.
Yes, I'm sure this is the same reason he wrote KND stories for DC's Cartoon Network Action Pack, and totally not about how he still wants to tell stories about the KND.
>GKND would be a brand new project, which would require them to foot the bill for a show which CN's current demographic might not be into.
This would be a great financial risk; considering today's economic environment, a corporation may be disinclined to take that risk.
Also, consider in fact how CN was dropped by Dish a while ago.
>“Despite our best efforts, we were unable to reach an agreement with Dish Network, and they have unilaterally decided to pull CNN, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, truTV, TCM, HLN, CNN en Espanol and Boomerang off the air upon the expiration of our current deal,” Turner said in a statement shortly after its networks went dark.
Samurai Jack on Toonami is (was?) a thing.
>which would require them to foot the bill for a show which CN's current demographic might not be into.
God I hate how CNs current "muh feels" market complains about any show that doesn't try to hamfist some shitty emotional story arc over just being fun and entertaining.
>Honestly, if there's no plans for a new series
Have you not seen the two teasers and Stop the g:KND videos? Plus Mr. Warburton drawing of Uno from circa 2012 of Sept. 5th?
There is a story to tell and be seen to warrant a potential series, hell, even a season or miniseries will be satisfying.
It does seem like Mr. Warburton did pitch the proposal around to have G:KND become an animated series yet was rejected.
Thing is, I don't think Mr. Warburton intended for G:KND to have been an April Fool's Day prank, he wouldn't have gone through the effort justification of reuiniting the old cast and drawing the storyboards.
It was smart of Mr. Warburton to have done this on this specific day and I think he expected this, for a decry of "It was an April Fool's Day prank along!" As a way to not get the fans hope up or anything, something along those lines.
The thing with Toonami is they are doing it basically free of charge and out of their own pockets.
I don't know if it changed, I haven't watched Toonami since last year yet Toonami consist of a group of eight (8) humans and the folk at [Adult Swim] probably dislike the block and revived it because of the fans vocal opinion.
You know Nick does need a show, how interesting would it be if G:KND went there instead. Nick will be losing FOP soon, and spongebob can only hold the show up for so long.
>any show that doesn't try to hamfist some shitty emotional story arc over just being fun and entertaining.
How will CN think that fun and entertaining shows are any good when everyone seems to complain about them?
very few old series were ever revived from obscurity;
in fact, one could say that a petition never revived any old cartoon series;
it didn't work for Teen Titans (classic series, not TTG), & it's unlikely that it'll work on KnD (petition or not).
>Powerpuff Girls is getting a reboot in 2016 yet CN has no fucking interest in G:KND?
PPG is still marketable; KnD may have run its course.
PPG is basically a series w/ standalone episodes, making it easy to be rebooted.
KnD ended with a narrative at the end, leaving its formerly standalone format.
It's just like how people are complaining about reboots in general: in movies, and on tv.
But what some are asking for now is basically the same old series.
If a corporation looks at this, they might just throw their hands up in the air shout obscenities at the viewers for being so fickle.
A lot of you are wondering why [adult swim] didn’t go ahead with the Galactic Kids Next Door on April Fools’ Day, so I’ll explain it.
[as], like all businesses, exists to make money. They need that sweet 18-30 y/o demographic to watch their shows every night. Most kids who grew up on KND, by and large, were born in 1997, only a small fraction of that demographic. [as] probably doesn’t know you guys even exist compared to the Toonami audience.
These are also the kids who, if they got their way, would want [as] to play #ThrowbackThursday marathons of Naruto, One Piece, Scary Godmother, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, Krypto the Superdog, Baby Looney Tunes, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, Class of 3000, Mucha Lucha, Teen Titans, Gym Partner, live-action Fridays, Squirrel Boy, Juniper Lee, Xiaolin Showdown, Code Lyoko, Camp Lazlo, and Foster’s, a move that would be corporate suicide.
Basically, what I’m saying is: KND is too recent to be considered nostalgia by [as]’s marketing team, as opposed to Toonami. Wait until 2022 to get a KND reboot. Better yet, accept the fact that nothing made post-9/11 will ever be considered nostalgic and will always feel “new” no matter what. Them’s how the chips fall.
its still the same shit adult swim already had going for them on Saturdays they just threw Toonami on there to make all those fegs happy
You guys know what has to be done
Make sure to tweet @CartoonNetwork and include #GKND somewhere in your post
Why Mr. Warburton?
Why did you do this?
I never thought you were this kind of person.
was this supposed to be a joke? because if it is, then I'm not laughing. None of us are.
All you did in the end was harm and disappoint your loyal fanbase.
Why Mr. Warburton? Why?
Kim Possible, Fairly Odd Parents, Futurama, Family Guy, Rugrats, and a couple other shows all got cancelled and brought back due to fan support/high ratings for reruns.
Add Invader Zim (in comic form) and Powerpuff Girls. There's been a decent amount.
CN is bringing back Powerpuff Girls and Courage with new shows because they know they still have an audience. that's why they aired Dance Pantsed and Fog of Courage. it was a test to see if they were still profitable so I think that once Cartoon Network sees the positive reaction these teasers\animatics have gotten they will at least consider making it a full series like PPG and Courage.
This was probably a pitch to show CN people still enjoy KND and want to see a sequel. And judging by the people signing the change.org petition, people still enjoy KND and want to see a sequel.
For a show like KND, which was made in the first place because we, the viewers, voted for the show way back when, it seems fitting that, once again, he comes to the "viewers" to request the show be made again. He/They even may storyboards of the initial concepts, which is basically an early stage pilot. I hope we will do our parts and help this project come to life.
>an obvious april fool's joke
Not really. Although it did end up on April Fool's, I didn't think Warburton was the type.
Even then, nothing explicitly stated "WE WILL NEVER MAKE A G:KND SERIES" but still... damn. I'm still disappointed.
Damn....it's been a long time since i've been surprised at a children's show saying some cuss word.
The fact that it was number 3 to say it somehow made it really adorable.
Yes, the Powerpuff Girl's special entitled Dance Pantsed was aired to build up hype for the reboot and The Fog of Courage was a independent short made the creator of the series, John Dilworth shown at Comic Con and had petitions to air officially on television. CN listened and saw how much people still loved Courage and got John Dilworth a new contract for a whole series. and I hope the same will happen for Galactic KND, Oh yeah, they even got Ringo Starr to do a music video for the PPG reboot. you can even watch Fog of Courage if your interested.
You may have set your expectations a bit high, what did you expect to happen?
I mean, the [as] takeover would've been cool and true to the pilot, but odds were good it wasn't gonna happen.
Why? Mr. Warburton never specifically stated Galactic: Kids Next Door was a April Fool's Day prank.
A series can't be made right now, Mr. Warburton probably tried to pitch the idea and the idea was axed and this was his way to prove the fans are still invested and care for an old favourite to have become a series.
Y'know as a way to say the execs "Hahaha, I told you so, cruddy adults don't know anything!"
Seeing as how the voice actors/actresses reprise their respect roles it does seem like they had hope too for a G:KND series to be made.
I still trust and favour Mr. Warburton.
>Why is everyone acting like Warburton is an asshole for this?
I can't type nor voice my opinion for the other anons yet I don't think Mr. Warburton is an asshole.
It wasn't a spur of the moment April Fool's Day is around the corner let me whip up a quick prank situation.
Mr. Warburton had the idea for G:KND circa 2012, or hell, even prior 2012, he drew Galactic Uno on 5th of Sept.
And the work he put into G:KND having the cast reprise their roles, drawing a storyboard, and all. He is clearly still interested in C:KND and not to use TvTropes terminology Mr. Warburton is doing it for the art, in my eyes.
I think it was humble and admirable of Mr. Warburton not to use Kickstarter or Patreon and ask for donations.
>All right guys, listen up! Even if we never see each other again, just promise me one thing: That you'll never grow up, even if you're 100 years old and don't remember a thing about our times together. You still will be a kid at heart, okay? So who's with me?!
You heard what Numbuh 1 said before leaving in INTERVIEWS.
It was an obvious pitch, just like the Fog of Courage stuff. If you guys actually want this shit back you need to make some noise about it. Just don't assume creators are teasing big shit without any sort of feedback first, they obviously want our opinions on stuff before they go through with it.
#G:KNDRULES would be less fucking lame you twat
but in all reality fuck hashtagging
>All this hype
>Expected a Aprils Fools joke
>Got a petition
I don't want to sound like a pessimist but petitions never work.
>mfw I was on the stream last night and everybody freaked the fuck out when metal music start playing because they thought the teens took over Adult Swim.
And of the things you listed, only one of them was any good (Space Dandy). Everything currently on Toonami is either reruns or shit.
>it really was just a pitch
Just because I was right about it, doesn't make me feel less bad for you guys, though. You 2000s kids obviously got your shit wound up tight about all this.
The ending says
>Their are no plans for a GKND series, but Mr. Warburton and the voice actors are all for it
A series is a bit too much, an 8 or 10 ep long miniseries is more believable goal (ending with a tv movie)
>There are people who actually had hope that this wasn't some April Fools shit.
You people don't even deserve an I told you so...
In all fairness, if the leak had never happened, and the original video got posted at the end of the countdown, we all would've thought it was an April Fools thing. But Vine scrambled to post more stuff and get Dee Bradley Baker and Lauren Tom in on this to make it seem like it was something more.
I'm so hyped
All that waiting for a fucking petition?
What a let down. It's literally nothing. Nothing will come of this.
Am I the only one who noticed how badly edited these frames were? They didn't draw Numbuh 3 with her mouth closed. They just did it in MS Paint.
The first teaser didn't have any of that though. It was cleaner. It's kind of sloppy considering it wasn't meant to be fully animated in the first place and was shown to the public rather than to the animators only.
It's not that hard to understand. The first teaser was clean, as if every frame was animated individually and professionally. This new video however has edits done to the frames that look like they were done with a mouse.
I feel a lot of the cartoon effects Courage does just don't work in a 3D format. It loses a lot of its charm and humor and is less dynamic.
That and (to me personally) 3D cartoons have always had sort of a low-quality, tech-demo Dire Straits-video-esque feel to them. Toy Story and most future films like it are fine though.
We're at 7.5k but we need to go to outside sources more than before soon and really push the pressure on. Didn't Toonami get news articles? We need a few of those, even if on shitty websites like Kotaku. You need to take it to reddit, get it on the front page. Get it on the front page of imgur. Make this shit go viral or it's bust.
You need to get this shit past every shit place you hate on the internet to actually get to the numbers we need for Cartoon Network to pick it back up. How viral works. Maybe some youtube but I doubt anyone here has the skills to do viral on youtube.
Yeah, I guess you're right. The "Stop the g:KND" video is at about 2k karma on /r/television, and around 50 on the other subs it's submitted to.
What else can be done? The other exposure it got on reddit was a comment on that picture of Mr. Boss smoking a cigar without it being in his mouth.
The links to the original leaked video got lukewarm reception at best, all were around 50. Hell, the petition links are around 15 right now. Not looking good on the reddit front besides that 2k link.
We could whore it out around Twitter. Maybe tag some big names in animation that have a Twitter. The worse that could happen is they disregard it. But if they did promote it, the support following it would be overwhelming. In general though, I think we need somebody with a lot of followers to put it out there.
Why do KND celebrate birthdays? Wouldn't they be seen as some horrible harbinger of Teenagehood?
>These are also the kids who, if they got their way, would want [as] to play #ThrowbackThursday marathons of Naruto, One Piece, Scary Godmother, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, Krypto the Superdog, Baby Looney Tunes, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, Class of 3000, Mucha Lucha, Teen Titans, Gym Partner, live-action Fridays, Squirrel Boy, Juniper Lee, Xiaolin Showdown, Code Lyoko, Camp Lazlo, and Foster’s, a move that would be corporate suicide.
i can say with certainty that this describes a perfect cartoon network for me.
I remember that they treated some adults that even normal kids despise quite neutrally. Even though they suspected a dentist of being a supervillian they never really openly antagonized him, other than a few jokes at his expense.
Jesus christ, I can't believe we've made this far in less than a day.
>People think this is an April Fools prank
>People forgot all about how Toonami was brought back
Its more about testing the waters and getting awareness out there. If no one really cared about it or shrugged at it then they can call it a joke and nothing would be seen as a failure.
However if it gains massive awareness and starts pulling a movement together in trying to make it happen, then it can be considered a success in getting the ball rolling on the possibility.
If Mr. Warburton plays close to ear with the success with the revival of Toonami notes, enough waves can make something happen.
The Space Dandy simulcast/dub was a jointed effort with Funimation and Toonami in airing an anime as soon (and dubbed) as it was airing new in Japan. It usually takes months for licenses to be acquired and VA's to be picked out/record. They did it all back to back with Japan's airing however, which was no simple feat for them.
Also, Intruder II is happening soon, which will be its own story.
If the G:KND happens, it will likely be airing in the same format new cartoons are now with 12 minute episodes.
FFS this is not the same thing as Toonami. The only thing that happened is it became a fancier Saturday night Adult Swim. And that's Adult Swim, where there's actually a market for action cartoons and uncut anime.
This however is an entirely new show for KIDS to be aired on CN's main block. How many signing that petition are CN's actual audience? And unless you, for some terrible reason decide to add in a bunch of adult humor and language, this won't fly on Adult Swim either.
A sequel series might've worked if it happened almost right after the original ended, like with the Ben 10 series's and Korra, but this shit went off the air 7 years ago.
Operation A.P.R.I.L F.O.O.L.
>Scary Godmother, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, Krypto the Superdog, Baby Looney Tunes
>Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi, Class of 3000, Mucha Lucha
>Gym Partner, live-action Fridays, Squirrel Boy, Juniper Lee, Xiaolin Showdown, Code Lyoko, Camp Lazlo
Remember how hype we were?
Remember how threads would reach the bump limit in a few hours?
Remember the speculation? The feeling that the new show HAD to happen?
Remember how we would bond over a show that gave birth to continuity in kids shows, even if it was only for a week?
Remember the night of the hype?
Remember those faggots who RP'd?
Remember when 362 was best girl?
I miss it already. Fuck.
I'm glad all that shit got archived so I can relive it later. It was fun, even if it was only for a few days.
At least there's a chance, even if tiny, that GKND might happen, since Warburton and the VAs are on board with the idea.
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! is the little little tripfag roleplaying shitfuck upset now that he cant post his ebin little thred full of amazing helpful and insightful links so he can get alto fo replies and posts and be recognized as "the guy who made that awesome knd thread"??? god i can just see you right now, fucking 11 years old, masturbating to all the porn on /b/ and coming to /co/ to fucking post your stupid bullshit and put on your trip. by the way what the fuck kind of trip is that? why the fuck is your fucking name numbuh 96 you fucktard? is it 96 because 96 reversed is 69? god you're such a stupid immature middle schooler. fucking asking the op of this thread to delete it so you can post one about the exact same topic only with a few links in it, and maybe some extra waifu bullshit. what the fuck is wrong with you you stupid piece of shit. im so fucking tired of you newfags coming on here and putting your ebin trips and names on and looking at what topics /co/ likes to discuss and trying to make a thread based on that topic so you can go "oh look at me! i am not new! i fit in!" and puting on a tripcode and a name so everyone KNOWS you're the cool guy! you're the guy who fits in! hey everyone, isnt numbuh 96 just the most insightful, funniest faggot around? man! you sure are awesome man! seriously though, i have blocked about every tripfag and namefag i've seen so i can keep my shit purely anonymous. i HATE you tripfags. your fucking name and trip has absolutely nothing to do with this conversation AT ALL, and no one cares if you make a fucking thread about le ebin new knd show. no one cares. fuck you you attention whore shit. im so fucking done. im done with you and this post, consider yourself blocked, you shmuck. if i ever see you using another trip and name, and believe me ill know, ill dox your stupid ass and post it on hackforums and ddos you. punk.
I've got the best post saved, like that dumbass who said Lincoln was the 5th president.
What the crud did you just cruddy say about me, you little twerp? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Arctic Base, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on the Delightful Dorks' mansion, and I have over 300 confirmed butts kicked. I am trained in G.O.R.I.L.L.A. warfare and I'm the top hand-to-hand specialist in the entire Kids Next Door. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will kick your butt the crud out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my cruddy words. You think you can get away with saying that crud to me over the Internet? Think again, squirt. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of KND specialists across the USA and your bus route is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, squirt. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your butt. You're cruddy done, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kick your butt in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my feet. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the Kids Next Door Moonbase Reserve Supply and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable butt off the face of the continent, you little twerp. If only you could have known what unholy retri...retri..PAYBACK your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your cruddy tongue. But NOOOOOOOOO! You couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you idiot. I will unleash fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're cruddy dead, dork.
I saved that fifth president one too, fucking hilarious
>people still think this is an April fools joke even though the Numbuh one design seen in the video was in an old blog post and dated Sept 5, 2012
At least wait for Warburton to say something
Implying Nigel wasn't working under cover and had Numbers 2-5 evacuate planet Earth before the destruction occurred.
Also, I think the Delightful Children Down the Lane somehow are in charge of GKND (those multiple voices from the overhead light in the video)
I don't doubt people want it, I'm just saying it feels a bit scripted to me.
>This looks like an incredibly blatant viral marketing ploy.
How? If it was then g:KND would have had a lot more to present then what was shown like flyers in the streets saying "Stop the g:KND" or CN plus [Adult Swim] playing the second teaser trailer sporadically to gain interest from the viewers.
I can see how it looked like a viral marketing stunt yet it didn't seem like a viral marketing stunt.
I tried asking in the other thread, but I'll ask here just in case. Is there any way I can watch the episodes online? My computer probably couldn't handle a download that massive. If not, then just please spoonfeed me the download link and I'll grit my teeth.
I'm not saying it's happening, but it's totally fucking happening
Which other thread? Also, I don't think there's any good site that doesn't have shit quality, so you might be best off getting the tvrips instead. Half the size, shittier quality though.
Certainly. Albeit without the debacle of having multiple threads and keep discussion in one entire thread.
The thread can revolve around discussion how to get the execs to realize to greenlit G:KND into a series and/or movie. And to continue to spread the word.
G:KND is not done yet, Mr. Warburton has to fill us in on more information as he stated in his blog.
ASAP let's start a new thread with this link in the OP(along with the video and petition). We need to make sure to include KND/Kids Next Door in the post title
I'd make the post myself but my computer is fucked up atm and I'm stuck on my iPad
