>My editor-in-chief, Hannah Means-Shannon, pointed out to me that the Gwen Stacy of the title Spider-Gwen was a teenager, rather than the twenty-something character we had left back in the seventies, something I think I’d failed to pick up on.
Remember when people used to read comics before making up facts and assuming?
So if she is underage and this is supposed to be a title geared towards younger audience then why is she at a bar and being offered a drink by Spider-Pig?
Could it be that she is of age and people are just trying to find an excuse to call sexism, no shock there
A. People don't bother reading the comic, they just assume I BET SHE'S LIKE 16
B. People are making the readers of these articles think that Gwen is a young teen by lying and hoping to drum up hate.
The fact still stands she was allowed in a bar without being carded. If this book is trying to appeal to a younger female audience then alcohol may be something to stay away from
>Ladies and Gentlement the wonderful world of feminism
skewing the facts to make it so you can never be the villain
If it's for teenage girls, then there is no problem. If it's for young children then I would blame the writer and artist for having a bar scene. I still wouldn't blame Cho because Cho wasn't even distributing the art for sale it was a fan drawn piece
Let's assume Gwen got into the bar without being card (something in NYC that never happens), Gwen is in college as Captain Stacy said so she at least 19-20. Sure 19 years old is a teenager but she's older than 18 so she's legally an adult. Gwen could be a porn star or stripper if she wanted at 18.
My point is 19 is an adult. So why are all these sites acting like Gwen is 15 years old?
I think people assume she's a teen because of the first Spider-Gwen comic where the recap took place in high school, I think.
Also isn't Randy Robertson in this universe the same age as Gwen, MJ, Glory, and Sha Shan? Why is he in a bar if people think Gwen's a teen?
The best part of this is that the Bleeding Cool guy comes here so maybe he'll add a correction note at the bottom about her being 21+ when he sees this thread (without actually crediting us, as usual).
>Fuck, and I thought Hannah not being a boy's name was confusing enough.
Honestly, I assumed that she was meant to be a teen as well. I thought the band breaking up, that we saw in her original comic, was during an audition for some school dance. Which Back to the Future has led me to believe is a thing in America.
>Cause a pig in a spider costume seems dumb as fuck.
It's not a real thing in real life. Some schools get DJs but others just get someone to put a mix together on their iPod and let it play (though usually a teacher combs through to make sure it's the radio versions). But it is a thing on TV.
HERE, CAPTAIN STACY SAYS THAT GWEN ISN'T IN HIGH SCHOOL ANYMORE AND SHOULD FOCUS ON COLLEGE
SOURCE: EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE #2
>clickbait site clickbaiting
I, for one, am shocked and appalled that this could possibly happen. Next you'll be telling me that the X-Men were going to be put in a different universe.
Whelp, I guess I was misremembering. Although I don't understand how the American education system works anyway. You go to college, without choosing what you want to study...and then you just not say what you're studying for a while until your parents complain that you haven't 'declared'?
It doesn't matter because they aren't writing for people that read comics. They want to make up what they need to be true, just to drum up support for their "progressive" movement and will never back down when facts are revealed.
Because even if they are 100% wrong, it's important someone brings attention to these imaginary crimes.
Sound like an excuse to get mad. There's no real meat to this controversy (just like there was nothing to the original Spider-Woman cover) so Rodriguez is just insinuating that Cho's a pedo (even though 16 is legal in some states).
But hey, we've must be careful never to laugh at ourselves lest we have a sense of humility. We must be as uptight as possible at all time.
>Anyways, Cho is a drama whore looking for attention once he realized how stupid he looked. News at 11
Frank Cho came out of this looking golden. He gave no fucks which is the only way to defeat a SJW.
Robbi Rodriguez on the other hand came out looking like a fool. His threat to Cho and his comparison of Gwen to his daughter made it clear that he is the worst type of SJW/fanboy.
He sounded like Chris Chan.
The way it works is that there are general classes you have to take for every major anyway (things like 2 semesters of a lab science, 2 semesters of a history class, etc) and then you begin to take the specialized ones once you pick a major.
>My point is 19 is an adult.
Sexist pig! 19 is an impressionable and innocent age. She probably doesn't even know about the birds and the bees yet. And that sexist monster Frank Cho is *choke* drawing lewd pictures of her but.
Hey, those girls worked very hard on their car washing. Now I for one am going to be a gentleman about it, and go over there and congratulate each of them personally.
The writer himself already gave an approximate age for her.
Dunno why no one...I dunno...asked?
Here, just send this panel to anyone who has been claiming that Gwen is underage in the last week. Unless she's a teen prodigy I think we can safely say that she's college student age.
Why do we care how old Gwen is in the comic?
If she was underage does it magically mean that Cho is a pedo or something? It is obvious Cho was drawing an adult.
I think this is just a typical SJW debating tactic, attacking the character of the person by implying he is a member of an unsavory group.
I'm suprised none of the usual suspects have tried to claim that Cho is a Conservative, Libertarian, Egalitarian, Athiest, Nazi, MRA, Red Piller, Gamer Gater, Sad Puppy yet.
>Sir. Sir. Sir! I need to see some form of identification.
>I can't do that.
>Oh, just because you're some kind of superhero, you think you can hide behind that mask?
>Look buddy. For all I know you're a thirteen year old kid under there.
>Yeah I ge-
>And I don't wanna be losing my job by letting a minor in here. Even if they are a masked superhero.
>Okay I unde-
>So either you gotta show me an ID, or I can't let you in
>Look, I'll even let you pass with an Avengers card. That usually has your age on it. It'll do.
>Come on man, don't make me throw you out. So you gonna give me your ID or what?
>I'm a fucking pig you moron.
So how old IS she?
She's ATLEAST 17 unless she graduated High School under 17. I don't buy the bar as indicative of much since it could've been a restaurant with a bar.
I think the idea is you go with a vague idea of what you want and then things become concrete usually by Sophmore Year
Nah, SJWs still think he's a dick and anyone who hated them was probably going to like him to begin with.
Robbi sounds like an uptight prude to me but there are apparently people that agree that Comic men have to be on their best behavior not to alienate ladies or kids in comics even if it's a private sketch on their own site.
Like the dude who drew this needs to reign it in or he might seriously scare off prospective women readers.
There we go.
Thanks Jay, you've been a saint in all this.
Fucking disgusting. Having a 19 year old in skin tight pants. SHES JUST A KID.
On a serious note, Latour gives no fucks about any of this. Why Robbi is making it into a big deal in beyond me.
>Why do we care how old Gwen is in the comic?
Because some people bring it up as a reason to take a shot at Cho. And that Bleeding Cool article brought it up as well. If they didn't like the cover it's one thing. Creating fake reasons to complain is another.
An artist who draws sexy women drew Gwen in the pose of the Spiderwoman cover for a fan and people got mad. Then he told them to fuck off and drew Harley too in that pose. Some mad people tried to claim he was wrong for the Gwen thing for incorrectly saying that she was a teenager and arguing that teenage girls shouldn't be overly sexualized.
I don't understand asking people to reign in their personal art, it's theirs to do with as they please and it isn't like it's being sold as an alternative cover. The worst case scenarios is the artist chooses to sell it as a print on their website or at a con and even then it's not like you have to buy it
>Then he told them to fuck off and drew Harley too in that pose.
Holy shit, this is some Bendis level trolling right here.
>Why do we care how old Gwen is in the comic?
Part of it is that, yes, it does have to do with how "old" she is meant to be. That is something people still care about greatly. I agree it's functionally pointless in this kind of thing, but there we are.
It's mostly being jumped on here on /co/, though, is because it is, in fact, more useless than usual. Even by the standards being used to criticize the fake cover, those critics are wrong. She is not "an underage teenager." She is a woman in college. It's about people getting worked up about an issue without even having the decency to know basic facts about the issue.
A large part of this seems to be the way we portray ages and so on in art. If a character doesn't look "old enough," they're immediately decried as being underage. Which is silly, because one look at the real world will show you that you get all sorts of body types, sizes, and appearances that make simply telling age from physical appearance a suckers game. I knew an 18 year old in highschool who could've easily passed as a middle schooler, and probably even younger than that too. She looked the same when I met her in college. It was pretty uncanny, I'll admit, and she had crazy asian tiny girl genes, but still.
This is essentially what most level headed people (including other industry artists) have been saying, but of course people actually involved with the argument don't care about being sensible at this point. They just want to be "right"
It never happened yet. There was a 2 page spread about it in Edge of Spiderverse 2.
Spider-verse 2 was just suppose to be 1 comic so they didn't have time to explain her origins. Then Gwen got popular and Marvel gave her a book. Now they have time to explain.
Next issue we find out about the day Peter died.
>It is obvious Cho was drawing an adult.
You blind son! It's obviously an underage girl. Just look at her slender hips and childlike face.
Frank Cho drew a sketch of Spider-Gwen in the Manara pose for fun.
The next day people started bitching on twitter, the Mary Sue wrote an article on it, the artist of Spider-Gwen made a tweet saying "Be lucky you're never around me" and then later went on to say he meant he'd rant at him and went onto rant that Comics are in a boom with women and kids and feels artists like Cho and Campbell
who has actually done real variants for Gwen multiple onesrisk that by keeping in their old cheesecakey ways. He also said he just recently got over being embarrassed to admit he worked in comics.
It doesn't exist we entered mid story.
I'm just saying nothing really changed.
>SJWs still think he's a dick and anyone who hated them was probably going to like him to begin with.
SJW's think every who isn't a member of their clique is a dick. They are a tiny (if very vocal) group and the vast majority of the population either doesn't know who they are or absolutely hates them.
Conservatives hate them, Libertarians hate them, Liberals hate them and Socialists hate them. (actual left wingers really REALLY hate them)
It's sad that they do more generally have reason to complain about female teenage leads being drawn too sexy, but they ruin it by lumping in stuff like this that doesn't even apply and weakens their argument.
You know that cheek bone structure and body type I would say she looks about 22-24 in that picture.
However how much you want to bet that Robbi will find a way to de-age Gwen in the comics so he can be right?
Looks like every other Frank Cho woman to me.
You know, the character is going to be drawn the same anyway. You can call them underaged or you can call them fifty billion years old, it doesn't really make any difference. Pretty silly to get upset on that basis.
Even if she was underaged in the series you could just say that that cover is set in the future in the setting, it would be drawn the same way. Getting upset over that is like people who watch an animated movie and complain that it's unrealistic. Yes, fish can't actually talk, but this is a movie about talking fish. Ya know?
SJWs have a strict ruling list they like to follow
>the artist of Spider-Gwen made a tweet saying "Be lucky you're never around me"
I wouldn't want to be near the Joker either.
I think we all know the answer to that.
The people who get mad at this stuff won't agree with you because they extrapolate things into real life. You can't go around talking about how pre-college aged girls "look old enough" for obvious reasons.
Honestly, while women might enjoy it, since many actually do cheesecake, let's face the facts: It's mostly made for men, and you know what? So what? Why would we have to be ashamed of that shit? Girls schlick all the time to Dr Who or the Supernatural guys or whatever, and many female artists love to draw some yaoi stuff and beefcake and such and no one shames them for it because there's no reason. Shaming people for their sexualities is fucking stupid. Might as well start stoning the gays if we go for that route again.
yes, I mean men get all the powerful poses right?
>He also said he just recently got over being embarrassed to admit he worked in comics.
What a fucking asshole. He has way too much pride for a guy who looks like a literal clown.
I'm almost entirely certain it was due to the character limit.
Which is really just another example of how, out of all the fucking terrible ways there is to argue about shit on the internet, Twitter is the worst.
>Like the dude who drew this needs to reign it in or he might seriously scare off prospective women readers.
That's based Sara Pichelli.
I'm just saying, she does have a thing for older men. Much older men.
>Here's my take on the frank cho sketch cover. Your drawing dirty pics of one of my kids. Be lucky your never around me. #spidergwen
131 chars, guy's lazy, like most of twitter. Agreed about the arguing though, you can't say shit in 140 chars.
Why are female heroes always in those slutty poses while guys aren't? Sexist men!
>Why do we care how old Gwen is in the comic?
Because of tweets like this in the past week.
I'm pretty sure there were others.
Every ones gotten super touchy.
Personally, no I don't think it was a threat.
I didn't think it was anything but empty posturing just Robbi being an internet tough guy and didn't have any plans to hurt or even talk to Cho if he really met him.
I guess so but at the same time it's not as if men and women can't appreciate well executed Beef or Cheese cake for reasons other than "I jerk/schlick off to this"
Or atleast I used to think that but I'm starting to think I'm started to get legit turned on by this stuff.
>Saw Twitter fight saying there are a lot of cheesecake artists but few notable beefcake artists
>The only one named was some crappy porn guy
>Wanted desperately to log in and name off a few I think are good
and say if Cho applied himself he could be a really good beefcake artist too he's got the human anatomy down he could make a hot dude if he bothered to make their faces more handsome
>They put this on an all ages book
But what if it does. Then Dick is already exposed, you've got other options but none of it really compares to some good Dick.
Do you think they care that she's about 19 or is it still too gross? I mean Cho is still in his 40s.
College Student and Gwen's bandmate
>I mean Cho is still in his 40s.
So Dean Yeagle is in his 60s. Making pretty ladies has no age limit
Northern Ireland fag here. This is pretty much spot on; it's how kids are/were pulled into the paramilitary groups, on both sides.
Obviously some (actually quite a few considering) people would have a genuine grievance with 'the other side', but quite often it was/is a case of 'Here, you don't want your wee ol' mam to be beaten up by those bastards, do you? And did you hear about the bombing/shooting last week? Killed two kids, the bastards'.
They reinforce the idea that there's some innate, deep down in the bones difference between 'us' and 'them', and to be friends, or even kind to 'them' would be cats and dogs living together. 'They' are the enemy. 'They' want to kill your mum. 'They' killed some of 'us' the other day.
That's nailed into you day after day, until finally, you believe it, and you're the one telling some kid that their next door neighbour, some ninety year old man who never hurt a fly, is the enemy, and should be shot.
Showing a sign of weakness, of doubt, is like blood in shark infested water. After all, you're either with us, or you're against us. So eventually you'll be turning on your best friend, just because they're not as stanche in their belief as you, even if you don't believe it yourself. It's all about keeping up appearances. You might think it's all nonsense, but you can't let on, because then you'll be the one on the chopping block.
The IRA and UVF and everything in between may be bastards, and believe me, they were, but at least they were out in the open. I dunno how else to put it; you knew it was out there, and you knew it was happening around you, but you wouldn't realise it was working on you. With the SJW crowd, it's all done in the shadows. It's not obvious, and it's all lies and half truths, and you're told that it's good, because hey, you don't want to be a racist do you?
You're not an oppressor, are you? You're not one of them, are you?
>Like the dude who drew this needs to reign it in or he might seriously scare off prospective women readers.
They can fuck off then? Any woman who gets offended by Cho's art or that pose isn't really worth their weight in ham.
>Making pretty ladies has no age limit
it is when you are 24 and want to draw 15 yea olds
I wish I lived in grorious nippon
Yeah good Dick usually does the trick but sometimes they want more than just Dick. And if you start off with Dick then you've got nothing to build to. Building up to Dick is usually the way to go
I'd love if Sara took over but it's Robbi's book even if he's a shitty person he shouldn't be booted off the book.
Let him get kicked off on his own.
Then ask for Pichelli.
age of consent in new york is 17, with special stipulations that 14 year olds can have sex with people no more than 4 years older than they are. so i don't really see what the big fuss is about.
Don't tell me how to live my life dad!
no making pretty ladies doesn't but I can see SJWs arguing it as a reason why these men aren't allowed to draw woman of specific age range
Anon you can't forget we have Dick and we have Delicious Spider-Butt
It's okay for Peter to be naked and being watched by a by nympho but make a Spider-Female crawl and pose like Peter and it's disgusting.
>clearly anon you don't get it, men are never sexually degraded, woman are the victims and should never be he victims
You won't hear anyone complain about Grayson working out in his underwear either
The way she's hanging upside down is incredibly sexualised. She's got her hands between her thighs, spread open, right in front of Peter. What, she just finds this the most comfortable way to sit? Splayed, on show for th male gaze?
And again in the next panel! She's laying back, her legs spread! Disgusting. And then she's just lounging there, her ass on display, up in the air as if she's in some misognistic advertisement! Whoever drew this is a shitlord and deserves to be shot at dawn. No last cigerette.
All joking aside, do the spider powers also come with the desire, compulsion and indeed, tolerance for these fucked up poses? Every spider related hero is always hanging upside down, standing on two different walls at once, or whatever. You'd think it'd be uncomfortable, but they treat it like falling back into a big comfy chair
Just so we're clear, Robbie recolored MayDay Parker and added a hood that could have been drawn by a five year old on a character that is older than he is and is claiming ownership over it?
Look at this disgusting piece of shit. I bet Cho drew this. We should burn it, for sexualising an underage girl, and her childhood companion, her family swan. These sick bastards. I bet she loved that swan in a totally platonic way, and some sick, misognisit cis-pig needed some jerk off material, so he painted this.
>Nah, SJWs still think he's a dick and anyone who hated them was probably going to like him to begin with.
And Cho increased his support from his supporters while making his detractors look like a bunch of whiny kids
Yep. There seems to be this weird view of ownership this new incoming group of creators have. CamStew is the same way about Babs.
Eh, CamStew is nowhere near as bad as Robbie is being. CamStew got upset over an official cover (one even the artist didn't like) and rightfulyl pointed out it wasn't going to work with the tone of the book itself as well as send a message counter to the one they are aiming for with that book.
Robbie's getting all twisted up over unofficial art and now people are lying to try and make Cho look bad.
Thank you, I picked up bits and pieces and it's good to have pretty much the whole picture.
I'm a bit of a newfag in the sense that I've only peripherally heard of this thing. I know he had (odd) plans for Mantis (and Swordsman II IIRC), but I can't remember the specifics.
He took a character he didn't create and slapped the look and abilities of another character he didn't create on it and now treats said character like his own child.
>what the fuck is this crazy shit?
>read wikipedia entry
>"The businessman suddenly discovers his penis has mutated into a gargantuan power drill
He is not sexy! He is a male power fantasy, you shitlord!
Come to think of it, wasn't Slott the one who came up with the idea of Gwen being a Spider-Woman? he had the idea in mind of Gwen wearing the green coat and regular outfit but with a Spider-Man mask.
More or less, yeah.
And to be honest if you were superstrong and hyperflexible wouldn't you be prone to strut your stuff?
>Pete: Could I sit at the table, like a normal person. Not scuff up Luke and Jess' cheap rented apartment we're all squatting in because we're fugitives and likely fuck up whatever security deposit they worked out? Yes. But I'd rather stick to the wall with my legs wide open, with a faint outline of my dick for all to see.
I bet he did it on purpose. The director would say something, Jackman would pretend not to hear, and swing around fast, his dick flailing wildly, and he's all 'What? Sorry, I didn't mean to do that, silly me!'
walk into any mall and look in any clothing store that targets teenage girls or at the teenage girls themselves. the Cho cover is fucking tame compared to what a lot of pre-teen and teenage girls actually wear in real life
He's being ridiculous, but this is kind of interesting to think about more generally. How do the credits work on alternate versions anyway? What about a character like Iris West II who technically didn't show up until Johns Flash run but was thought up by Waid and Ross in Kingdom Come?
I guess ultimately it doesn't matter because these are company owned characters, but it's interesting.
Specific Alternates I believe get credited to the writer/artist that made them.
Like this is credited to Claremont and I forget the artist despite being more or less Spidey without change.
Bendis has a lot of pride in Ultimate Spidey too, so I don't think it's a foreign feeling and I don't think Robbi is wrong in feeling some kind of creatorship of her but he's sort of acting like a baby.
What a pimp.
In his late 40's and still slaying 20-something pussies.
Bendis is rightly credited as having created the character of Ultimate Peter Parker, but I don't think he's ever been insane enough to run around trying to police fan art of anything that might kind of resemble "his creation". Mark Bagley doesn't claim that "The younger Spider-Man with the BIG EYES" is his "son".
Edge of the Spider-Verse 2 tells us she's in college, though it's unclear how *far* into college. She's probably not old enough to drink, and may well be 18 or 19, thus technically a teenager.
I think this pretty much proves the feminists who cried about the Batgirl cover being "inappropriate for children" were bullshitting in order to push their agenda.
All these facts and they still want to paint Cho as a pedophile because he draws cheesecake on his personal blog.
Jason says she's around 19 in>>71121581
I don't know if that's still inappropriate to these people since she's legal but young.
Not really, I mean they're probably the same assholes but there's no real proof.
Chapelle has a pretty funny joke about age and all that and it kind of hits on an important issue:
White women are considered younger and more naive by default, for better or worse. So even if Gwen is 19, people are going to go "She's practically a child!".
And that mentality is only getting worse as we infantalize millenials.
I hate how they never seem to spend as much energy praising good books that could use attention. Something like Gotham Academy deserves some hype and word of mouth but doesn't get it apparently because the creators never tried to make a big deal about how progressive they were or whatever.
There's no controvesry to be had there.
I know this gets overlooked and yes the term has been diluted but one of the main reasons they're called social justice *Warriors* is because they're really just looking for a fight. Any fight. And once they "win", it's off to the next one.
But at the sametime they do that to Gamergate type shit.
What did LaTour do? He's been quiet.
I mean I guess I could get a quiet place with people you can talk to about shit. That's fucking therapy but...play-doh?
>but doesn't get it apparently because the creators never tried to make a big deal about how progressive they were or whatever
Eh, Cloonan has a little, but far as I can tell she doesn't spend all day on social media.
Anyone got the full version of this?
Latour has been in the game for at least a decade. He's a professional who sees comics as going from one job to the next. Those are the people that last the longest in comics.
Rodriguez complained on twitter a couple of weeks ago that Stan Lee signed a Spider-Gwen comic, and then said "some things never change in the industry". Wait until they hand off the book to a superior artist, and watch the inevitable twitter meltdown.
Except they are some people who are pissy about Dick being objectified in canon.
They don't read the book, see mostly panels of Dick being half naked, and rage about the book threatening his purity and being out of character.
Wish I had made screenshots of some comments made when that issue where the horny girls chased him came out.
I'm a 'uprising' comic professional, and I have to say I feel I can never talk these things on twitter. You wouldnt believe how feminazi is the thinking on comic professionals around these days. All you can do is talk on cons with your pals that knows that all these bitching about covers stuff is nonsense, it's ridicolous.
You cant disagree with these people, because they're very vocal and you always looks bad. Either your pervert, or a sexist, or an old trend. Is though, but I want to work with superheroes (for now, I want a little fanbase before doing my own stuff), and that's the job.
>and rage about the book threatening his purity and being out of character.
This is the man who slept with a broken-hearted Barbara before announcing her he was going to marry Starfire.
>Anyone complaining about the perfection that is Dick
Those people need to start reading comics, he is on of the head poster boys of beefcake along with Peter Parker
Dug through his twitter to find this. Motherfucker is the biggest superfan of his own character. Jeez.
Anyways, here's the tweet in question. Looks like he's specifically angry about Lee's signature covering his own. Doesn't he realize the man is 92 YEARS OLD?
It's a think Stan Lee probably get's the mos signature requests as he is a media star. Hell I hear about people requesting him to actually sign DC books because of that stupid Big Bang Theory joke
It's better to stay out of it unless you can be as eloquent as this: https://twitter.com/thatpetewoods/status/586026256468205568
But notice he still had to phrase it as if he was completely on their side.
You expect less from the Clown Prince of Crime?
That reminds me of this really, really long rant someone did about Grayson. She said how objectified he is, how he is "too passive", and how he was "too good a person". Yes. TOO GOOD A PERSON. One of her examples was the third issue where he should have just beat up the guy with the guns instead of trying to talk him down both times
Shit was hilarious. Lots of out of context panels and everything.
That is out of character though, and Barbara was written as the same age as Dick. Both are unacceptable.
When the girls are allowed to get cameltoe, the men can start getting more bulge. However there are a few times the bulge will sneak through
That's the thing though. They KNOW he's been objectified in comics before. Hell, if they have a tumblr they probably have a tag for it.
It's more like they just don't like Grayson for whatever reason and just decide to shit on everything about it. That or the horny college girls remind them of themselves and it embarrasses them.
and we occasionally get bulge too, surprisngly Captain Marvel seems to keep showing up in this category
I think these people need to lighten up, and have a good time
To be fair a moderate Bulge isn't really the same as cameltoe and it's not like they're asking for a dick outline just the proof of dicks.
Well let's see what Robbi's contributions are:
- Costume recolor.
That's pretty much it. Lee & Ditko created both Gwen Stacy and Spiderman. Rodriguez didn't even change her iconic hair-cut and black headband that Ditko designed.
Ok, what about the idea of Gwen getting Spider Powers? Oh yeah, that was Dan Slott's idea, who brought Rodriguez/Latour in for Spiderverse. The rest? Written by Jason Latour.
The Verdict? Spider Gwen is even less of an OC than Sonichu.
Is the occasional Bulge on the list of secret Captain Marvel powers?
fair enough, I can support that. However it's probably more editorial protecting themselves from parental lawsuit about things being too provocative
I kinda wanna feel bad for the guy, because I wanna think this is one of those times where HE thinks he has to say what he assumes people want to hear. But then again he could genuinely mean what he says, and that just makes him a faggot.
I hope Marvel hands Spider-Gwen over to Greg Land
What I don't get is that why people are so eager to cave into what crazy SJWs say about your work?
At least not wanting to piss off muslims I can sort of understand. They do trhe same things SJWs do, except additionally they'll most likely blow you up in real life. Why cave in to a bunch of impotent whiners who won't dare call you that shit in real life?
Everyone thinks they're doing the right thing. They believe that if they have to publicly humiliate someone to get a fairer society, then so be it. That if they can just censor a few images, the rest of the art form will be better for it. If they can expel just a few people who are the bigots then the industry will be a better place.
Do not EVER trust anyone who thinks like this.
I don't think so I think it's just probably artists/styles.
Like the artists who go ahead and draw the bulges are also typically the one that have understanding of fabric. So they're drawing the proper way the clothing would react whereas a lot of artists either go in simple styles which simplify greatly or go with the whole painted naked human schtick so they didn't draw out the genitals at all so it's just an absence.
On the bright side I think people are getting fed up with it.
Like that new Daily Show kid was shit on for WAY old tweets making bad jokes about fat girls and jews. The show also had a segment about how people love outrage and demanding someone be destroyed because of it citing that girl who made an AIDs joke about going to Africa and got fired before she even landed in Africa.
That's too much. Land doesn't need anymore work.
The story about what happened to that lady is pretty sad. I mean she should have known better than to joke about something that deadly (and she claims it was in jest anyway like she was saying that she was privileged), but she was legitimately harassed for posting something stupid on the internet and afraid to leave her home. That's going too far.
She said something like "Hope I don't get aids, lol don't worry I'm white"
It was as tasteless as wet cardboard, and she had some kind of PR position IIRC. It was irresponsible but she sure as hell didn't deserve what she got.
Muramasa blade it's a Katana or some other jap sword they almost all look alike to me.
>Like she was privileged
What White Privilege stops AIDs now? I thought she was just making a joke like you'd make with your friends. That's an issue with Social Media, people like to treat it like it's their friends when it's the world. You can make those jokes with your friends and they'll know you're making a joke or at the very least you embarrassed yourself in front of a small group understanding people. With Twitter you're just shooting your brain farts out into the world and while your friends will see it, a million dicks you don't even know will probably think you're being 100% serious because they're humorless.
Yeah I didn't get her reasoning on it. I think that was a little excuse-making. Ultimately you do need to just lock your personal account if you're a professional or have a separate one for work promotion and real life.
The sad fact is you need to never friend any coworkers, and treat every phrase you type in as if your boss was watching you.
We've entered the future where you have to be careful what you say because someone is watching everything you think and say. But we fucking did it to ourselves.
Yup. People said Brave New World was more realistic than 1984. And they weren't kidding. 1984 could only be achieved in places like North Korea. Brave New World can happen ANYWHERE.
If you're not able to look at the group you're a part of and voice an opinion of "Okay wait we're being enormous fucking assholes here let's stop and think about this", then something ran off the rails somewhere down the road and you should consider getting the fuck out of dodge.
Because they keep thinking that these people(women) will start buying their product once they weed out the "problematic" elements.
Women aren't buying comics in big numbers compared to men, the entire industry could potentially double in size if women bought more comics. Companies look at this gap and wonder why women don't buy comic books. SJWs show up and say it's because of the cheesecake and that they'll start buying them in huge numbers once it's gone.
But then they get rid of it and suddenly the writing is "problematic" and they'll start buying them when that's all fixed up.
Then when that happens they say that the fanbase is "problematic" and that they feel uncomfortable buying something associated with those kinds of people. But promise that women will start buying the product once they've cleaned that up.
And then the male audience leaves because they're perpetually having things they like attacked and diminished and the existing female audience which was often barely complaining about stuff give up because everything they liked about the product is now gone.
And the tidal wave of women that the company bent over backwards for? They never show up. But the hope of the company is that they will so they keep doubling down and hoping that with just one more rule or edit women will suddenly fall over themselves to read the latest Batman comic.
More that they dangle a carrot in front of people(more sales and money) and never ever follow through. Just complain more.
I think Gail Simone wrote something about it recently Tumblr Comic fans, the ones who don't read, don't buy and don't contribute anything to the company making the product but have a massive sense of entitlement because they reblog fan-art and demand that the companies fix their problems while giving nothing back.
I used to pirate comics exclusively myself, never bought them except the odd trade, its the easiest way to get all the classic series that would cost a few hundred dollars minimum to catch up on(Sandman, Preacher, Transmetropolitan, Starman, Ultimate Spider-Man and the like) but then DC cancelled Manhunter which I fucking loved. And they killed it because the sales were too low. So I started buying comics that I liked and pirating the ones you "have" to read for universal continuity. Now I just buy what I want weekly and skip the universal storylines where I can. I still want them to bring back Manhunter one day.
While there's a lot of them obviously calling for the destruction of shit like Cheesecake and the old fanbase it's not like they haven't had success with shit like Ms Marvel and Batgirl.
>While there's a lot of them obviously calling for the destruction of shit like Cheesecake
It's not exactly that. They want to destroy men's enjoyment of cheesecake.
They literally want men to not enjoy a woman's body.
>don't contribute anything to the company making the product but have a massive sense of entitlement because they reblog fan-art
This is the most hilarious thing about it. One of the people responding to her post basically said "I never plan on watching a single episode of Steven Universe, but I always reblog fanart of it, and I love the show because of it". Its like, c'mon, seriously? Literally fucking proved her point.
what does that even mean?
Also I'm glad Gail is more reasonable lately. I remember a post of her when she called James Bond "problematic" and wanted to change him into a woman of color, completely missing the point of Bond.
I'm a guy and I like Batgirl and Batwoman, hell the last Marvel book I gave a shit about was Spider-man loves Mary Jane(I don't really read Marvel much), I ended up giving my SLMJ books to a friend of mines daughter and she loves them as well.
There are well written and good books out there that both guys and girls like that don't have to be feminist screeds, the problem is that people on Twitter have an all or nothing attitude to these things. So you're either with them or more or less a rapist.
Cheers, I didn't have a link on this computer.
But in the case of the Frank Cho nonsense, the majority of people getting pissed are guys.
I can sorta understand girls getting offended over cheesecake, but when it's the guys getting more offended over sexy fan art than girls, what the hell is going on?
noun: gatekeeper; plural noun: gatekeepers; noun: gateman; plural noun: gatemen; noun: gate-keeper; plural noun: gate-keepers
an attendant at a gate who is employed to control who goes through it.
a person or thing that controls access to something.
"the primary-care doctor serves as the gatekeeper to specialists"
I think we're about done. No one learned anything.
So the solution is simple, we get female Cheesecake artists and pretend we hate it.
I'm just saying while they see it as a zero sum, the Big 2 so far have reason to want to follow the carrot since it's got them some success.
>So the solution is simple, we get female Cheesecake artists and pretend we hate it.
That still limits men who want to draw cheesecake.
Also porn made by women doesn't satisfy my internalized rapist urges.
>I'm just saying while they see it as a zero sum, the Big 2 so far have reason to want to follow the carrot since it's got them some success.
Good point. I wasn't looking at it from that perspective I admit.
How new are you to comics that you don't know that Marvel has, since Fantastic Four, used modern slang and references in their comics?
That's why old Marvel is so dated, they reference TV shows and pop culture of their time frequently.
Are they not?
I mean Male Gaze essentially means shooting the person to show off the sexy bits right? The ENTIRE point of Victoria Secret is sexy as fuck lingerie is it not? I mean people aren't necessarily buying it because it's a functional reliable....as far as I know.
That's why fuckers gotta get out there and support some shit or you'll end up with nothing but Super events and tumblr books.
>Are they not?
Well there's been a push over the years for women to embrace being sexy for themselves and not for others, and this is where complaints about "male gaze" come in, but its like come the fuck on. You're complaining about a lingerie company showing off fucking lingerie.
I'm told they tried to do that with my family back in the 1700's in Russia against the Jews, they got spooked and moved to Canada.
Everyone starts trying to break up the minorities, it's time to get the FUCK out of Dodge.
But that seems like kind of a problem.
Male Gaze and being sexy for yourself don't have to be contradictory.
And it's a model shoot, what exactly are they supposed to do to differentiate "this is for guys to fap to" and "this is for women to project onto"?
A woman in tight black leather goes full-on dominatrix and has a cadre of thong-clad men that she orders around like dogs, but they all enjoy it, it's their fetish.
Is it empowering because the woman is in control, or is it "male gaze" because it's what the men want?
The right answer is who fucking cares because both parties are happy and it's none of our fucking business. But good luck telling them that.
Hey man I'm just going by the rationalizations I've read about this sorta thing. Does sorta fall in line with what >>71130424 said; if a guy is enjoying it, then something *must* be wrong.
You can't just say both parties will be happy though because not everyone is into the same stuff.
You could just as easily get faggots saying "it's emasculating to men" these fuckers exist and bitches saying "it's just a male fantasy".
Not to mention if this were the case then people wouldn't have ANY problem with most women in comics since at the very least all of them are typically some kind of sexually empowered like that, be it shallow "strong sexy women" fetish or more in depth writing.
I'm still waiting for an SJW to really piss off a nutcase.
I'm not talking about a serial killer either, I'm talking like the furry community or something. Someone who thinks they're a minority being picked on, someone vocal and with a lot of other people with a persecution complex.
Because there's nothing more "sparks meet gasoline" than someone more judgmental than anyone else coming into contact with someone who cannot believe they are in the wrong and has more followers than George Takei.
Yeah, that'd be great wouldn't it? But here we are.
That would be fun to watch.
Though I doubt it'd get anywhere just y'know.....Furries screaming fursecution at tumblrtards.
Though aren't tumblrtards into otherkin type shit?
Isn't that already the case with the Brony community? SJWs tried so hard to attack them, they ended up pissing themselves and end up entrenching themselves and moving to the Steven Universe fandom instead.
Otaku are untouchable because they've already given up on 3D women.'
Ninety percent of this shit is because guys don't want 3D women to consider them untouchable. Once you go wizard, SJWs have no power.
>Though aren't tumblrtards into otherkin type shit?
You make the mistake of thinking tumblr is one group.
Tumblr is like 4chan. It's a shitload of different communities. /b/ doesn't define /k/ or /fit/. People on /tg/ are only vaguely aware of any hacking activity done in the name of politics, and probably only secondhand or hearsay or through like one guy on both sides.
SJW tumblrites have nothing to do with the tumblr fetishists or the tumblr camwhores or the tumblrs posting crap from the 90's for nostalgia. It's a powder keg though, since it has a high density of nutcases without anonymity.
This is a 2,000 year old dragon
It is A-ok to want to fuck her.
It's mostly an American thing is it not? It's not like they'd pop into Japan. But that'd be so one sided. Japan gives no fuck, their nerd shit already has a healthy abundance of female inclusion, and really they're obsessive about it. Their hardcore nerds make our hardcore nerds look like well adjusted individuals.
Deprive them of their money.
Post their real identity and tell them they're a shitbag until they an hero, then watch as their mother gets the media to decry SJW's and divide the soccer moms from the lesbians.
Yeah, but gay people fall into:
3) Traitors to the cause
There's not enough people with gay sympathy, and unless you actually have a job there's not much the united homosexual community will do.
You need someone absolutely fucking CRAZY. Crazier than they are.
You see it with the minorities too on some things. They get overlooked by people claiming to be on their side but who are also unwilling to accept that maybe their input is not needed and possibly also incorrect.
So basically the world is begging for more lewd Spider-Gwen. I can get behind that. In more ways than one.
>Spider-Ham is her conscience
Well I think that's probably the best thing that could come out of this series. As appealing as the design and premise was, nothing interesting has been done with it. Who gives a shit about the Josie and the Pussycats stuff? Did they really have to make MJ a cunt foil to make Gwen interesting? Actually that's been a trend for a while now hasn't it?
>Please stop. The 13th Amendment makes it illegal to own niggas like this
They didn't say bad people, just odd.
I think he does it unconsciously, like wandering onto the ceiling when lost in thought.
Seems like something he'd do.
