>>76569207 nothing, but before I was listening to Harmontown and doug loves movies and all that trash, my first love was Patton Oswalt's standup. He went from being a nihilistic edgy comedian with no hope in life to a happily married father though his material got worse in the process.
Listening to Dan, he just sounded like a younger Patton Oswalt, though they're both the same age. It seems like there's an entire generation of aging Gen-Xers who have found financial success at comedy in hollywood but are still single and lonely in their early 40s and are just now settling down. As someone who's 27 and hasn't had a date in 8 years, Patton gives a bit of hope there's sunshine down the road. Dan shuts the blinds on me.
>>76568779 I don't know if they'd fuck with the family dynamic in that respect. Hopefully they focus less on marital problems and get back to the odd "straight man-funny man" flip flopping dynamic they have going on.
Might even set up a nice chance for Jerry to man up and break Rick out of jail and earn enough respect from his family to move from punching bag to occasional voice of reason.
>>76569465 >if your resume is full of jobs you got because of your vagina How do you know that? Look how about we just wait until the fucking season airs instead of jumping to conclusions? Besides the original team is still there, they just got new people on board and most of them happen to be grillz. I trust Justin, he's a cool guy.
>>76569489 being married in general is a hindrance to success. I don't know where that bull about every great man had a great woman behind him came from. but in reality if you look at people that really transcended their field in science and art and shit. single men, gays, or married men that hated their wives. A a successful man can become successful DESPITE being married, but not because of it
>>76569634 Or maybe there's actually zero correlation, haven't you considered that? If you don't wanna get married don't do it, nobody forces you, but damn it's so pathetic when you faggots come here and start projecting your insecurities.
>>76570136 You talk about reality huh? Wanna know what ''reality'' is? Each relationship is different, it's about two people finding their own dynamic and then making it work. These retarded generalizations are literally just you projecting your insecurities. I mean, if you weren't insecure then why are you posting here? To get validation that's why.
>>76570221 It doesnt matter how much you make it work because a woman gets very bored easily its literally to keep a woman satisfied if your dick is 9 inchs long. Once a woman is bored she just looks for new stimulation and then cheats on you leading a divorce. Marriage is for suckers just get a girl pregnant and force her to raise the children with you.
>>76570356 I dont need to change, women need to change they need to stop being teenage girls and wanting an exciting life after their fucking 30s or some shit. Its not my fault at all, Im not saying Im a victim Im just saying its futile.
>>76569370 >He went from being a nihilistic edgy comedian with no hope in life to a happily married father though his material got worse in the process That sounds familiar. Why must they find happiness and deprive us of entertainment, why?
>>76570532 >being a ''normie'' prevents you from posting on 4chan also fuck it lemme tell you this secret that most adult people consider it as ''common sense'' any kind of human social contact, relationships included, are based on six important pillars: trust, honesty, commitment, communication, loyalty and respect if even just one of those six things is lacking, then shit's gonna fall down the reason so many relationships seem to fail nowadays is because the internet and smartphones have severly damaged the concept of honesty and communication, you can't deny that this applies to anything involving human contact really: relationships, friendships, parenthood, teamwork, hell even projects between two companies the fact that I have to explan you this basic stuff is embarassing
>>76568573 It's pretty fucking hilarious to think that this is why we've been getting so much god damn Beth and Jerry. Could one of them just die now, please? Outside of their marriage troubles neither character really even brings anything to the plot or dynamic.
Beth is a fucking horsedoctorsurgeon or whatever and we haven't heard about that nearly an entire season. Jerry does PR shit or something but spent the last several episodes being the butt of 'get a job' jokes.
Spent half the season on BJ spitefully hating each other with half a dozen last minute resolutions to do better by their spouse and 'make this thing work' only for us to be right back to square one an episode later with them at each other's throats and passive-aggressively taking jabs at each other in conversation.
>>76573241 I'm not surprised that some fuck who uses ''normie'' unironically has no idea how social interactions work. Haven't you considered that maybe the reason all your friendships failed because at least one of those six things failed? Maybe it's time for you to do some self-reflecting.
>>76573290 >>76573320 oh wow your so rite. this anonymous post on some website drives me to rewrite my life that it may fit the chaddish cravings of some anonymous normalfag that don't know he's place
No, really, why do you need to be here and not on reddit or comicsalliance? Do you actually get off to being surrounded by people who don't wish you're normie life? Are you that insperate for approvation
It's snarky. Dan announced the divorce or let it a few hours before that tweet at a live Harmontown event. Erin found out about it on the pocast's subreddit, evidenced by her posting WHAT to somebody posting about the announcement, and then this a bit later.
>>76569550 You could tell they werent a good couple on the Harmontown podcast. I used to listen to to it beforeI got super behind and dropped it.
Even in the Harmontown doc you can see they werent a good couple. Harmon was too dependent on Erin. She would make sure he was bathed (most of the time), ate properly, and pretty much anything he needed.
>>76573866 >>76573917 >>76573920 I don't listen to the Podcast so I might be talking out of my ass, but could it be a "Married to his work" thing where normal everyday things fall to the wayside?
I know I can get so caught up in my work I'd go all day, maybe days at a time without eating because I just kinda forgot to do it. It got to a point in 2013 where'd I'd go fucking days at a time eating and drinking nothing but coffee, water and breakfast muffins that my girlfriend would pull me away from my desk and force me to eat something.
>>76574052 Bah, gimme a break. I'm certainly not the only person in the world who would trade happiness and self-respect in exchange of living in a cartoon - especially since such people are not happy not have no self-respect in the first place.
>>76574245 There are two types of workaholic, anon: Those who are genuinely passionate about and dedicated to their vocation; and those who are broken individuals with no self-love or feel, who drone everyday because they got nothing to do.
Whether Dan truly loves working on Rick and Morty can be argued, because such things can always be disguised and affected, but he does seem to be chronically depressed and fundamentally unhappy type. i.e. these >>76573917>>76573920
>>76574245 He acts like hes married to his work. He acts like the whole world is out to get him. Hes just a alcoholic that had a good show. The behind the scenes drama really got his name out there and hes milking it.
The reason he was fired for Community was because of the low rating and Dan being drunk. Theres a blog made by one of the writers of the 3rd season that was just pictures of Dan passed out from drinking.
Dan has self-esteem issues that come from being abused as a kid and a young adult. He's driven to make things that are well-liked to fix his default assumption that he's worthless. His desperation drives him to work hard.
The problem is, at the same time, he also feels awful all the time. It means it's hard for him to work hard. He tries to escape these feelings by drinking a lot. That makes it even harder to work hard. This feeds into his already existing problems.
He's also surrounded himself with very abrasive people who are also more or less outsiders who romanticize being outsiders, and that mind-frame lets you justify things like drinking, being a huge dick, etc. Jeff is a famous womanizer who doesn't do relationships. Dustin Marshall is bipolar. His friend Dino is a consummate shit.
The nice people around him he doesn't spend a lot of time with.
>>76574879 Patton was a famous and successful comedian since the mid 2000s. It didn't make him happy. I'm living with a wonderful married couple, I've just started a decent-paying machining job, I've got most of Maslow's hierarchy of needs met. All I need to do is get off my ass and find someone.
>>76574674 Yup, he takes any sort of criticism as an attack on his person, which does not work in an actual healthy human relationship. He's smart as fuck, but his narcissism being a lynchpin of his charisma makes for someone that's fun to be around but you have to wear a hazmat suit to go near him when shit gets serious.
Erin seems like a sweetheart, so here's hoping she lands on her feet but I'm bored of hoping Dan learns his lessons.
>>76574742 I'm an animator, let's leave it at that. I come here to post about cartoons, not shill mine. I'm not on Stamper, Chris and Zach, or, fucking Christ if only, Arin Hanson's level of popularity, but there's a decent chance you've seen my work, especially if you keep your finger on the pulse of the YouTube animators circuit, but if you haven't seen my works I wouldn't be surprised.
The reason I bring that up is animation is a fucking grating process, especially when you're a one man team like myself and months of work are represented by a 4 minute short, so I can't blame Dan for letting things like showering fall to the side. I've been there, I've ignored necessities to get work done, it fucking sucks and you don't even realize it's happening. Like I said, I don't know Harmon, so this is simply my opinion.
Also, protip, if you ever meet Jonathan Gran, Ukinojoe at a con or something, give that dude a fucking hug, he is the sweetest guy I've ever met in my years animating. And if you see Suzy Berhow, Hanson's wife, don't give that cunt a second of your time, she is a fucking bitch.
>>76575638 Not really, Justin's just a bit of a manchild. They compliment each other really because Justin's so gregarious and wears his heart on his sleeve and loves jokes about shit and cum and collects Lego's. When he creates something I think he's proud of it even when he knows it's not perfect. He just likes creating and being in the moment.
Whereas Dan's just about dissecting things, constantly deconstructing, more in his own head. Everything has to be better than the last thing, and nothing is ever good enough.
>>76575418 Yea, after Jon left Game Grumps, her being a cunt isn't too surprising. Hell, I'm pretty sure everyone's pieced together what that break up was about.
>>76575504 Yea, good luck with that dude, just a little heads up, she doesn't look like that anymore, like with all newly-weds, she has fucking ballooned since that. She's a fucking cow last time I saw her in person.
>>76575909 Wrong answer... Or maybe it's not? THE PLOT THICKENS.
