>>916430 I honestly don't know much but I have an Arduino that I'm just starting out on. Some anons here will probably shit on it for being a meme board but who cares. It's got a fuck ton of support and parts for it.
>>916430 you want wifi capabilities? Go with the Raspberry Pi or the LinkItOne The raspberry is getting cheaper the linkitone is a bit out of pocket, but its works with a lot of the native Arduino stuff. API and Shields. LinkItOne is really powerful for being small. But if you're Just starting i suggest Arduino all the way. It's great to get started in the field of embedded systems
also make sure to check out maker sites! They always have available projects that one could get started in. Instructables is one good example.
Don't be afraid to ask questions. But don't be stupid and not try to figure it out for yourself first.
General rule of thumb: try to debug it yourself first and google. 9 times out of 10 the answers are already answered. Look before you ask something that's already been asked. I can't emphasize this enough. You'll get looked down on if you newfag too hard.
I'd like to design ( and then build ) my own tiny hipster house to store my lawnmower, rake and hose pipe in but have no clue where to begin. I have ideas like maybe using a shipping container half buried upright in the ground with the bit above ground being covered in reclaimed wood from pallets and some sort of protective window shutters that close over the windows to prevent immigrants form stealing my lawnmower but have no clue how to incorporate them into a blueprint.
I have no resources, I'm renting a town house and I don't own a lawnmower.
>>916426 Unfortunately for you, the man lawn mower association has made it illegal to own a lawn mower if you don't have a lawn. They did this just to stop you anon. I know because I tried to do tge same thing.
First time here so I apologize if this is the wrong board to be posting my question. I'm a college student and I want to begin a hobby that I enjoy but can earn some extra money. I love to work with my hands and I've been looking at metal beads, tags, etc. From what I can tell, its basically called metal smithing or metal working. I want to begin making small little keychain or necklace things like pic related. What tools do I need in the beginning as an absolute amateur to begin? I can only think of the basics such as sandpaper and some type of saw. I'm... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I'd like to design ( and then build ) my own tiny house but have no clue where to begin. I have ideas ( protective window shutters with solar panels that close over the window for travel but can open/angle downward so the solar panels can collect light ) but have no clue how to incorporate them into a blueprint. That assumes something like that even belongs in a blueprint; I'm pretty fucking clueless and need all the help I can get.
Pic semi-related: a random tiny house being towed by a uHaul.
I just found this image and wanted to share it; I was thinking of something along these lines but with solar panels that would face the window when closed to keep them safe during travel. I was also thinking it would be nice if, when facing outward, the shutters could be tilted at an angle to help catch sunlight. I don't know if I would need a track system for something like that though.
But my guess is that is a bit far off into the future. For now I just need to know where to start in the design process. Would I use MS Paint with a grid and/or... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Hey, I saw this picture on 9gag some time ago and I really wanna do it on my wall, any tips? Some I can, like RHCP and too fighters and Nirvana, but the other seems kinda hard, but I don't like all those bands. I know a projector could help but I don't have one
My idea was to do the outlines with pencil and then if it's nice, use a permanent marker on it, but I'm not sure how it gets on the wall. BTW, I don't live in North America, So my walls aren't made of cardboard, they are bricks and the white cement stuff to paint on it, then the paint. I thought of using some adsive tape on the wall and then paint the outlines of it.
I got an old foot-powered sewing machine structure (the cast iron part) and plan to make a lathe out of it. But I'm having a problem and I can't seem to find a good solution due to my lack of knowledge in this area.
As the picture shows, one of the four table supporters is broken, and I don't have the broken part, nor any experience in welding. And as far as I read, it's kinda tricky to weld cast iron.
So, how can I fix it? Any ideas? It must be sturdy.
>>916255 >>916256 Another simple pocket hole jig is to get a scrap of wood and guess-and-check the angle until you get it right. It won't last forever, but it'll do a few holes with a somewhat decent degree of accuracy. Best part of it is it's free, so you get what you pay for. But if you have some scrap wood laying around, it'll do decently. Hardwood works best, anything soft and it's likely to get too much play in it through repeated use in a very... Comment too long. >>916256 >>916255 Personally I'd still go for the full sized kit w/ everything so you can actually make consistent holes and stuff easier. Trust me on this. I used one back in HS for a little rifle crate/display box and it made things really simple, fast, and not shit. I've been thinking of actually building some shelving and a table myself and it's one of the top things I need to pick up before I get started, it made it just that much easier.
