/mu/ crossover? What music do you count as /fa/
>inb4 death grips
we all know you like death grips we all like death grips we don't need to hear about death grips anymore.
I like Beck a lot. Monsters of Folk are pretty good. Still really enjoy Modest Mouse. Curious about some more minimalist stuff that came out of NYC in the early 70's, but not enough to be listening often.
Really need new interesting stuff. Niggas on the Moon is refreshing, but isn't going to keep me long. I'm pretty bored with a lot of music though, I want something engrossing that I've never been exposed to before.
neither death grips or fucking vaporwave nonsense is remotely /fa/.
stop making these threads. music isnt fashion. if your music taste is fashionable then good for you, but listening to things simply because people might think youre interesting for liking them even though you dont even understand what youre listening to is fucking idiotic.
It's funny how ionizing Death Grips seems to be, I haven't really heard of anyone kind of liking them - it's always they really like them or really dislike them. Though usually anyone who has a loud opinion about them is pretentious in their own little way.
I'm going to check those out I suppose, how would you describe them?
I can see how you could have a problem with it, but there's something to be said about talking about different things with a certain group of people. A board dedicated to music talking about music is going to be one thing while a board about fashion is going to have a marginally different view. You also can't really argue how tied together fashion and music are, and pop culture in general. There's a reason artists get posted as inspo, musicians affect trends and hype, and that different artists choose certain designers. Hell, you see musicians as models and musical editorials with fashion reporting.

Ive been into Destroyer a lot recently.
King Krule is dope, teh Smiths might be sorta considered tumblr teenage girl core but actually really good. Iceage is dope, been getting more into that genre since listening to them.
is mvotc effeh?
i saw iceage live a couple weeks ago and i have to say i was disappointed not that /fa/ and kinda boring. songs were really boring lacked the energy i was hoping for. their front man was on a chair the whole time doing weird jim morrison dances and looking all cunt-y.
I dont even like going to concerts, the ones ive been too always had obnoxious fans singing along or shouting and ruining the experience from me, and from what I hear all concerts are like that.
Idk just not my thing
I need to update it now that I think about it
Definitely would add either Ex Military or Government Plates to it
Ex Military was one of my favorites for quite a while I still don't know why I never added it
Oh well, I'll get to it
damn dude sorry you can't enjoy shows. half of enjoyment of getting into a band is when i finally get to see them live. also getting into the local diy music scene has opened me up to all kinds of new stuff. as far as fashion is concerned its always cool to go to a show and see what everyone else is wearing especially more left field punk and noise shows.
theres not much of a music scene in suburban new jersey, but hopefully when I move elsewhere there will be
and idk man I still plan to go to shows sometimes maybe theyll grow on me, just the few that Ive been too havent had a good impression on me yk
look at some of the facebook pages for the shows. listen to some of the bandcamps. figure out which bands you like and which you dont. make a trip to see the ones you do. a lot of these diy places dont list their addresses listed so you are going to probably have to pm one of the hosts to get it if its not listed. its a bit of work but its totally worth it. as far as /fa/ philly bands look out for alex g, mumblr, amanda x, drums like machine guns are bros, ted nguyent is sick too.
I'm into experimental, ambient, electronic, industrial and hip-hop, including:
Swans, Nobukazu Takemura, Coil, Akira Yamaoka, Oneohtrix Point Never, Current 93, Boards of Canada, Funker Vogt, ?, Metal Fingers, Monaca, Rasmus Faber, Burzum, Killing Joke, Outkast, Sturm Café, Deine Lakaien, Steve Hauschildt, Baroness, ????, Tim Hecker & Daniel Lopatin, Foetus, Ken Ishii, Ravenous, Lauren Bousfield, Dustin O'Halloran, Aphex Twin, Terra Tenebrosa, Nujabes, A$AP Ferg, Three 6 Mafia, KMD, Giles Corey, Death Grips, Juicy J, Kettel & Secede, Psychic TV, Sleep Research Facility, Friendzone, Selebrities, Laibach, Carnivore, The Magnetic Fields, Pyramids, Ceephax, ????, Enigma, Sigh, Natural Snow Buildings, Sissy Spacek.
lots of emo and stuff this week.
cool taste m8. I love go-qualia. Bate MIDI 4 Too_A Buried Motif 2 is probably my favorite track off Girl of Synesthesea, which might be my favorite album from him. Xeno is pretty fucking good too.
Check out Yukari if you havent already. Not as much noise, but really good use of it. Whats ur last fm?
Tricot is one of my favs too. Have you heard Itsue? along the same lines as, GOAT fem vocals.
pretty cool taste. except whirr. those guys suck
i dont really care about their internet drama or whatever shit they said , i just really fucking love Distressor.
i hate their name so i always put off checking them out, but i'll check em out now. I was that way with Hot Cross, but now they're probably my favorite skramz band.
>making a video for a 14 year old song
yeah i dont get it.
you know nothing fucking pleb, wont even try to explain why sweet trip is such a great band when youre just discovering genres like post punk with fucking joy division and DNA, hmu in a couple of months
The ones out of that list that i know
>we listen to good music
What does /fa/ think of the new Death Grips shirts?
if that design came from anywhere else it would be mocked and scorned for the amateur effort it really is
the hands remind me of yoko ono's awful capsule collection for opening ceremony
qt Lana is tumblr core but I don't care. I love her. I love the atmosphere of every song and the lyrics.
Dude holy fuck let's be friends
You mean ??? right? Damn man I was just looking for a vinyl release of Echo the other day but it was only on CD
At first I was disappointed with Xeno but it grew on me like wild fire, lost a bit of his infused abrasiveness that he usually keeps, but was still really nice
He's definitely adopting that Virgin Babylon "sound", that's for sure, and I don't mind it so much, VBR is by far my favorite label
Also I deleted my last.fm a while ago, been debating whether or not I should get one again but not to be so anal about it like I used to
I don't really listen to music with lyrics too much anymore.
I stick to instrumentals.
Right now I am listening to this on repeat:
Even though I've never played the game
>everybody posting whatever garbage they just found on RA or pitchfork
>people calling Lone effay
>Haxan Cloak/The Body
>Blackest Ever Black
>anything on Chain Reaction
>anything on stroboscopic artefacts/prologue
>Black asteroid cos rick owens says so
>L.I.E.S, Pan, Creme organisation, etc
teklife we run this shit
Tobacco, Little Dragon, and I just found out about these Hundred Waters people...
>monsters of folk
currently digging AJJ, animal eyes, the we shared milk, ghost foot and a little bright eyes
>asap rocky, death grips, kanye
>deep house, indie & whatever other boring coma inducing genres that are available
>yung lean and other baby chav rap
>listening to this music for the sake of it reflecting on how you dress and so you can be percieved as le effay
This is so sad.
Must be sad that new track with the bug is pretty dope:
The Bug - Skeng (Autechre Remix)
P sure BEB does more than release techno. Same deal with RVNG. I can't remember the last time PAN released a house record. This is making me feel like ur posting whatever is under the techno/House tag on boomkat.
Good labels worth checking out tho
>LA Club Resource
>Rush Hour in-house
some music ive made
/fa/ how often do you guys go to shows? I'm 19 and have been following bands since 12 but I've only seen a few shows live (mum, real estate, deerhunter, couple others). I don't know I feel like I should be doing it more often, being an hour from the city and stuff, most of my friends are reluctant to do things like that though... Anyone ever go to a show alone?
Don't be afraid to go to shows alone, dude. I'm 21 and I wish I had started it sooner. If anything, you can always post around and see if there are people with similar music tastes that are willing to come along. I've met some really cool people doing that.
vince guaraldi trio

black moth super rainbow
the radio dept
its super subjective to consider anything as "fashionable" music and it also depends on genre as well. if we're speaking about something just being 'fashionable', then it must be p new n fresh
anyway i think jock club, and stuff like this https://soundcloud.com/sorenroi/up3 is p /fa/
100% silk has like 4 good releases, and the rush hour label is hit and miss, but rest of them are good tips
and no i just thought pan would go better into house, and beb, rvng into techno
by no means a complete list
>ctrl + f gesaffelstein
for shame /fa/
I listen to a lot of the stuff on here.
It's just obscure stuff and sounds great.
Other than that, Death Grips is extremely plebby and you really shouldn't talk about it if you like it, it's embarrassing.
Bones and Spooky Black are both really good and /fa/ at the same time, I like Orthodox music and religious music too.
-grabs him by the throat- back the fuck off!?!?
Man DG pleb as shit and you know it, the music sounds alright even though the new album is uninspired and boring, he's /fa/ though so I'll give you that.
It's just not something you should gloat about, it's like saying you like NMH or Animal Collective it's just embarrassing.
You're practically saying "yeah I went on /mu/ for 15 minutes and I'm pretty abstract huh".
dawg dont be calling anything pleb you listen to bones. and i like bones but cmon now. on top of that you like probably his worst tape.
i feel like i caught the b8 honestly
Really anyone who's played in berghain
I wish I could go. I live state side but if I'm in Berlin I will make the trek. From what i heard it's pretty "normal" (gays and straights) except for the fetish nights which are scheduled.
>Death Grips is extremely plebby
>likes fucking teenwitch
LOL okay then. Bones dresses like shit btw
Obvs Tommy Lee Sparta is the most /fa/
CC is classic example of a group that is cool/freshish at the beginning (chiptune, noise, dance crossover), good at the middle (II is a solid, accessible but still fun album), and then age out (everything after that). happens to artists, no need to be sore
>no one mentioned Blood Orange
It's like you guys don't even like throwback 80s slow sensual pop music
nah merchant ships are goat
check out his other bands, william bonney is prob the best of them
also new death grips is disappointingly bad
i've been jamming to le1f, donchristian, junglepussy for my queer hip hop.
some longass nightmares on wax boiler room shit on soundcloud.
and HTRK and Rhye for lounge.
I'm interested in what /fa/ thinks about Boards of Canada specifically.
>we all know you like death grips we all like death grips we don't need to hear about death grips anymore.
>dat unsubtle projection
>hurr i hate death grips but I still don't want people to bed mad at me. so i'll pretend to like them but say "hay guyz, pls dont tawlk about Deaf Gripps"
If you can pull off looking sad 24/7, emo like American Football or TWIABP
dadrap like wu-tang and NWA
Clipping aka less homeless Desu Grippu
My Bloody Valentine
if you can pull off looking brooding and spooky, drone/black metal like Sunn O))), Boris, Burzum, Deafheaven
Punk (Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Andrew Jackson Jihad)
GY!BE is essential
FlyLo is pretty /fa/
