i've done this like twice before with mixed results, but if anyone would like to ask me anything, i am an 18yo male model who's now pretty established in the fashion industry -- i'm signed out in LA/NY with some of the best agencies out there and -- as of a couple of weeks ago -- I'm also now signed in Seoul, where I'm moving to for 2 months on contract next week. i honestly haven't booked any gigantic campaigns yet thus far in my career / haven't worked with any blue chip designers yet that you guys would be impressed by, but I have been on option for CK/McQueen/Burberry/ some other euro shows and have worked with a couple of really cool smaller designers like brian lichtenberg -- and hopefully will be doing some euro stuff that you guys would recognize very soon. so those are my uh credentials.
This isn't some self-promotional/ego thing posting here every couple of months -- if i wanted to do some big social media thing, /fa/ would be the very last place i'd start at. as i've said before, the reason why i post here from time to time is that /fa/ told me to model first back like a year and a half ago (archive: https://warosu.org/fa/thread/S6437570 ) and shit blew up from there. all because of /fa/, i went out and got a mother agency, was picked up by a ny agency, then an la one, now korea, soon london/paris. i just feel like it's important to show my appreciation for that from time to time...
so with that, i'll throw up a few of the newer photoshoots and stuff i've been up to and if anybody has any questions, i'd be happy to answer. i don't think not being anon in this case counts as shitposting because this is a fashion blog and i'd assume that at least part of /fa/ would find a real male fashion model's experience interesting. i'm sure there are a few other models on here too so feel free to jump in.
also am tripped this time so hopefully things should go a bit smoother.
thank you. :) that's very nice of you to say that I'm an inspiration. I'm actually taking a couple of gap years for the modeling thing and am hoping that the sat score will help me still get into some good ones even w a few gap years. ATM I'm looking into the art center college of design because im probably gonna major in industrial design.
just caucasian, nothing too crazy. i think i have a lot of scottish in me and maybe some swedish. i'll have to check on that lol.
yeah, i'm signed with Ford Models in LA actually -- and pending some issues with my current NY agency, later might be w Ford in NY too. They're obviously incredible as far as bookings and stuff going plus the prestigiousness of the name. i'd probably say that (at least with the pillar NY/LA offices) you should try for a mother agency first. they're a little hesitant signing newcomers w/o any other agencies, but having a m/a should help.
6'2, ~160-ish, and I've never heard of doing anything with face workouts. My skincare routine is daily moisturizer 2x a day, sunscreen in morning, 1x weekly peel, 2x weekly exfoliating gel type stuff, and on days where i have to rush, i wear very light/thin bb cream w sunscreen/moisturizer built in
look shitty bc not allowed to cut my hair until I leave for Korea so they can decide how they want me to style it.
thanks man, you're too nice.
sooooo much. i still am really, really unnecessarily skinny and pretty much every one of my agents wants me to gain like 20 pounds. slowly getting there but metabolism is too quick.was really concerned korea wasn't going to work out bc of my weight. but yeah. everyone wants to build up my chest and get more of a six pack and it gets me less work that i don't have gainz.
ugh but people think i got like fucking collagen implants or some shit
just don't cut your hair for like 6 months and boom there ya go lol
i just mean that it's not like i go post on here when i'm feeling bad about myself or some shit for a pick-me-up. i think i have an interesting perspective on the fashion industry and since /fa/ got me started, i post every once in a while to let people know how stuff is going.
Can i cut it as a moggle or am i too avg
I'm 6'5, 160 lbs
We know that's you stance ginger fuck.
What sort of stuff do you wear daily Tyler? Fashionable designer stuff, or just vans and some lazy outfits because you're good looking enough?
P-post a fit.
i know, seriously so excited to see what they do w/ the hair.
i just do basic shit at the gym, mostly upper body now - curls and benching and that kinda thing. nothing too crazy. in ny they had us use the home gym at the model apartment to stay in shape.
i dunno, i feel like all the modeling stuff has done a lot of bad things to how i look at other peoples' problems. like i have difficulty empathizing with some shit.. my girlfriend of about a year broke up with me last week because she felt inadequate with all the stuff going on with me and that i didn't make her feel relevant enough and shit like that. it does fucked up stuff to your ego and makes you internally think everybody is almost below you. physically, idk. my ears arent symmetrical at all which sorta bothers me.
yeah, it's out in the archive i think. thanks mayne.
If you mean an actual selfie that you're taking with your phone in one hand, don't do that, just get a timer app and take one in decent lighting, take a few poses, show your hair and different sides etc.
like japanese super light liquid foundation. it barely does anything color wise or texture wise but seems to moisturize alright. one of my ny roommates showed me his and i've been using it on days that i'm late on since.
well, your features are definitely symetrical, so you've got that going for you. the problem is that the market really stops taking in people once you're past like 6'3" or so. if you go boutique, you could try it out but honestly you'll probably have difficulty with your height.
fuck yea, loved the clothes in that shoot. ricks as well: http://creemmag.com/about-a-boy/
ann demeulemeester show probably or gucci maybe. i've casted for gucci before so maybe someday :)
lemme find one rq
i wear a lot of the designer stuff i get from shoots/shows and all because money isn't always great when you're modeling full time (like one day you get a $1k booking for the day and then nothing for 2 weeks). lot of alexander wang, some smaller botique firms like drifter industries (look them up, they're fucking dope), a lot of shit i see on here like minimal paris and stuff.
thanks man, nice of you to say.
yes, so much. i wore a lot of psuedo fashion high school type shit but never really high fashion. after all the modeling stuff and getting to hang out with other models, my fashion sense definitely went more high fashion and loose-fitting than before. i care much more about what i wear now because it feels more like people are paying attention.
yeah, but i just have a super hard time eating that much. i used to take adderal for ap tests and stuff and i think that messed up my appetite so i dont eat much of anything anymore.
depends who. if it's a big one, at least don't have it be like filtered and stuff. should show general bone structure of your face and everything. if you have any (not professional, just like family taken ones of you or something) dslr full-length shots, those will probably be better.
How many qt foreign models have you been with? Doesnt everybody just bang everybody because you're all 10/10? You are living my dream. inb4 has gf
>all the modeling stuff has done a lot of bad things to how i look at other peoples' problems. like i have difficulty empathizing with some shit.. my girlfriend of about a year broke up with me last week because she felt inadequate with all the stuff going on with me and that i didn't make her feel relevant enough and shit like that. it does fucked up stuff to your ego and makes you internally think everybody is almost below you.
well at least you're aware of it, so now you can try to change
>it does fucked up stuff to your ego and makes you internally think everybody is almost below you
It's called being attractive. You are aesthetically pleasing so you get paid to work out and look good.
If I had super powers, saved lives, controlled an army, that's when I may start harboring an internal struggle with my empathetic values. Your growing ego is a product of superfluous attention.
sorry guys, i'm trying to keep up with these the best i can.
like smaller, not gigantic agencies. there's good sides and bad sides to going smaller but definitely a little more lenient with the small stuff (height, weight, etc). the big ones have a very specific cutout they look for.
i sent in pictures online to my now mother agency through their website. following that, they had me attend open call and a few follow up meetings. whole process probably took like a month maybe? there isn't really like 'competition' because when agencies sign someone, they're looking at them in terms of having a certain look that's different than the rest of their catalog. so don't feel just bc you see someone at open call that's crazy attractive that it becomes you or him. like every single model has a slightly different look and a slightly different demographic/key market, you know?
lol i wish. modeling isn't exactly the profession you get into to get rich
i'd say so. i definitely have to watch what i post a bit more bc they have people that monitor social media to make sure everything is ok. like last week i got in trouble w ny for having the caption,"no more drugs for me, pussy and religion is all i need" on an instagram photo and had to remove it. as far as physical freedom, it depends on the market. in ny, all the models were out clubbing and bringing girls back to the apartment every night / smoking weed all the time, so not much restriction there. korea, i've heard, will be a lot less free w drugs/drinking/that kinda thing.
just to let you know, i don't really go on fb anymore / post. i'm active on snapchat/instagram though (both @tylermcferson)
kek @ age , emailed pics
i mean i started as an amateur, pretty much everybody does. just send in pics mayne / attend an open call locally. as far as stretch marks, i'm not the person to ask. i've been like 2 pounds my whole life so wouldn't know. sorry
i mean the girlfriend i was talking about a few posts up was a model w my mother agency. i was with her for a year (and i've been doing this for just over a year) so while a couple of qt3.14 models have been interested, didn't do anything. probably will though, now that i have the chance. and yes, everybody bangs everybody in the industry. one of my male model friends has a stack of cards like 2.5 inches high (like a big card that you bring to castings w measurements and pictures) that he's taken from model grills he's fucked. it's insane.
yeah, definitely hoping to. it's not good for my friendships/relationships period.
yeah, i know how dumb it sounds. it's exactly that - a product of all the unnecc. attention. empathy probably wasn't the right word. it's just that being put on a pedestal can turn you into a kanye-tier ego if you dont keep an eye on it.
i always clench (>>9282752 is best example), have never sucked in cheeks. the cheek thing makes your lips look thin and weird. most models i know clench, a few w thicker faces suck in cheeks
what would you consider your end goal as a model? do you want to branch more out into the fashion world aside from modeling? what got you interested in modeling aside from /fa/'s nudge?
also i'm interested in seeing more things on your personal style, you should definitely keep a blog about how you progressed (both style-wise and career-wise) not only as a diary but also to share with other people your accomplishments!
you get used to it. pretty much all of the faces / expressions that they have me do, i've practiced in front of the mirror a million times prior to make sure it doesn't look too weird. for inside shoots, definitely makes me more comfortable posing and stuff with rap in the background. it just gets less and less awkward the more you do it - like when you change into only underwear in the street on shoot.
i dunno mayne. grills r hard
thanks! i definitely know a few models with less than great skin, so it's not a dealbreaker. as long as you don't have like actual scars from acne / you don't have like the sorta thing that requires prescription, you should be fine.
yeah, one of my favorite shots ever
Tyler please, this is an important one!
Love you by the way you're gorgeous man.
yeah, rose is insanely gorgeous. her eyebrows are sex. always wanted to ask her out to coffee.
Jawns are jeans, and just a whole outfit if it's possible.
Idk what time it is there or if you're up for it, I just put a phone in quite a low-rimmed cup to lean it up, use a timer or smth like that.
thanks. yeah, a couple. everybody moves around a lot, so you're not like best friends with anyone for more than a month or two. it's been going well though.
oh god. i'll write this up as i'm replying to other ones. but yeah sure
i guess i'd say that my end goal is to meet interesting people like designers and notable people. maybe work my way into designing down the road. for the first one as an example, when i was shooting with brian lichtenberg a month or two back (like actually brian, not a photographer for him), he was telling me what kanye is like irl and miley and all these really high up people. we were just riding around in his kardashian-mobile mercedes talking about like the biggest people in the world. it was so surreal and i hope that over the next few years i get to meet people as interesting and notable as him, you know? and i agree on the blog/diary part. i have a blog (tylermcferson.com) but i don't really do text posts on it or things related to me bc i've felt like it's too self-promotional but now that i think about it, maybe i will.
All models are plebs. Because why bother when no matter what you do you're gonna look better than everyone else
But still op you're wasting your potential
they're not crazily photoshopped besides some perspective stuff as far as i know (i'm really not sure, i'd imagine they aren't but it's in post which i'm not involved in), but i do have a few that look fucking ridiculous due to photoshop shit (pic related)
yeah, i'm working on building up my designer collection esp. when i get to korea. just hard bc at home, no real places to shop at. i shop online but generally don't do above ~$600 online so don't have many options.
>>9283161 runway is way more exhilarating but it's so much work backstage just for a few seconds of walking. i really like indoor, studio photoshoots for lookbooks and that kinda thing.
