murakami is a good author
seems we have the same taste in sophisticated literature
do you have any book suggestions (any author)?
btw you should start using wooden pencils because they're much better
Despite the hate for Tao Lin on /lit/ I really liked Taipei recently, if you haven't read it.
I use wooden pencils at home but when I'm out and about the mechanical one is handy in that I don't have to bring a parer and rubber too.
Could you stop bumping your own thread. kthanx.
I use a Moleskine professional book right now that I bought at the airport. I like the sections and the bullet points and built-in lists but I prefer Leuchtturm for date sections, titles, page numbers, table of contents and better paper.
What the fuck man
we have the same headphones ^_^
ignoring all the murakami shitposting, Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage was actually pretty good; its alot more down to earth and less supernatural than his other stuff
still haven't found time to finish the book, but I read a few pages on the subway
I like the author's writing style a lot, especially the way he describes things
Depends what kinda pen you plan on using and what you are going to do with it
I have pen that uses ink so I need relatively thick pages and since I just mostly doodle I got book with blank pages.
Go to some paper/art shop and check out different kind of sketchbooks.
Writing things down helps me remember things and follow through with them more often.
Also, you can't draw with a phone.
Thirdly I just like fountain pens. It's an easy way to brag and get women as well if you play it right.
>not following the most /fa/ visual guide to have ever been compiled
Because I pretend to be a street photographer.
Have some more EDC.
>today I will: find out where _____ lives and add it to my database (he leaves work at 5, follow him from there); ask mum for money; fish around on /fa/ for more Toronto posters, record as much data as I can find
what the fuck am i looking at
these fuckin smart watches will kill me, they aren't effay once and for all, if you want to wear a watch, go for a classic one or don't wear anything FFS
exactly which level of autism do you need to suffer from to even think about that wearing a smart watch is a good idea?
What I learned from lurking this thread (generalizations):
/fa/ is autistic
/fa/ is full of pseudo intellectuals
/fa/ is dominated by liberal arts majors
/fa/ is full of middle class suburban kids who have had little exposure to the outside world
/fa/ has fascination with looking cultured and classy
/fa/ will most likely sacrifice function over looks
/fa/ is technologically illiterate
/fa/ is the epitome of post-irony
/fa/ carries to much unnecessary shit (clothing, items, electronic etc)
/fa/'s livelihood is largely dependent on the "circle-jerking" phenomenon (ego-boosting, reinforcement, attention)
even though I enjoyed the Wind up bird chronicle, it still annoyed me how every five lines he'd say "I was listening to jazz on the radio in a nice suit making spaghetti when the phone rang"
>/fa/ is autistic
no argument here
>/fa/ is full of pseudo intellectuals
did you really just say "pseudo intellectuals"? are you thirteen?
>/fa/ is dominated by liberal arts majors
maybe. doesn't seem like that to me, though. and why is that a bad thing?
>/fa/ is full of middle class suburban kids who have had little exposure to the outside world
most people have limited experience with the world outside of their social class. middle class kids tend not to know about life on the streets. lower class kids tend not to know about life in the middle class.
and I'm not convinced /fa/ is as sheltered as you think they are
>/fa/ has fascination with looking cultured and classy
this is not limited to /fa/. but it would make sense that people who like fashion also care about how they're seen by other people
>/fa/ will most likely sacrifice function over looks
>/fa/ is technologically illiterate
seriously disagree with this one
>/fa/ is the epitome of post-irony
what on earth gave you that idea?
>/fa/ carries to much unnecessary shit (clothing, items, electronic etc)
you're basing this on a sampling of posts from a thread about bragging about your edc. hardly representative of the whole board.
and what makes you think you're fit to judge how much is "too much"?
>/fa/'s livelihood is largely dependent on the "circle-jerking" phenomenon (ego-boosting, reinforcement, attention)
you mean the phenomenon where social human beings say nice things to each other?
did I just fall for a troll post?
Just got them yesterday, but they are slightly uncomfortable after extended periods of usage
I saw it at a bookstore, read the first few pages, then downloaded it because it was pretty good. Mind telling me what you don't like about it, or what you prefer reading? Open to suggestions
Just looked up velour ear pads
They look like they'd attract a lot of dust?
Do you just rip off the old pads and glue on the new ones?
Not really dust but it does attract like fuzzy strings on it that you just pull off. and the old ones just slide off and you put the other ones over the clip things where the other ones came off. idk im high af
oh okay cool thanks
you should stop doing drugs by the way. they can have a lasting harmful impact physically and/or mentally depending on the drug, and also, they're a waste of money and time which could be spent towards more productive endeavours.
I haven't really been keeping up with the latest smart watches, but Pebble is very neat.
Way more customizable than the iPod which is not really meant to be used as a smart watch.
I'm not into smart watches (or even watches), but I really admire Apple's whole ideas of locking the user into an ecosystem. If you buy the watch, you need the iPhone to connect with it, then you need a Macbook to sync your texts, then you need an iPad to use with your iCloud on the go, then you can pretty much only get apps from Apple's own app store so they're making money off you even after you've made the purchase. Fucking smart really when you think about it.
>It's an iPod nano with a watch strap, lol. There are different clock faces you can change in the settings.
what the actual fuck are you saying, are you blind/retarded or did you quote the wrong person?
anon the watch you're looking for is something from LIP design
pic related is what i carry on my pockets and/or jacket, i also carry my phone which i used to take the pic, and my backpack which has three notebooks, a pencil and a pen
Technophile fashion is so high tech, it gave me the weirdest cyber boner
Not very /hr/: http://cl.ly/image/433W0N1i330A/ewdraw.jpg
The ecosystem is a garden of pure ideology.
And my books, don't forget my books.
It's an OG 70's Lip. The bigger automatic rectangular model.
Pencils are lobbed loose in bags.
I will kick and scream.
It's not the fridge, different model. These bastards have so many nicknames.
Here not mine but better pic.
>fucking shilly when you think about it
the only reason they cancelled the ipod classic line is because it was the only device that didnt continue to make them money after the initial purchase.
Fucking this. The one genuinely good product they ever came up with and they discontinued it because it didn't line up with their future plans for DRM-ridden, cloud-based bullshit. It'll be a sad day when my current one eventually breaks.
>No legit successor to the high-capacity, hard drive based mp3 player.
Literally just attach a DAC to an SSD and charge £300 for it and watch the money roll in, leave the plebs to their 16gb phones and Beats.
>sucking Murakami this hard.
>"Sophisticated Literature" No, NO! I love Murakami's books and have almost read all of them but one thing it is not is "sophisticated literature." His books are entertaining and make you think about existence differently but they are not classics yet.
Why is OP carrying "Wind Up Bird Chronicle" everywhere he goes, you only have to read a book once.
not that guy but,
the way someone puts something somewhere for the sole reason of making an impression
like how i put my magnum trojan condoms next to me bedstand whenever i bring a woman into my bedroom, even though i never use them because they dont fit
S.T. Dupont Lighter
Vial of cocaine
Mont Blanc pens
Smythson money clip wallet
[Iphone not pictured]
>Literally just attach a DAC to an SSD and charge £300 for it and watch the money roll in, leave the plebs to their 16gb phones and Beats.
Because it makes no sense from a financial perspective.
I know Rotring makes arguably the best mechanical pencils, but they're everything I hate in a pencil. They feel too heavy, and when you write, they're so sturdy that you can pretty much feel the pencil lead scraping on the paper. It's like fingernails running down a chalkboard silently.
Pic related are my favorite pencils in the whole world. So light. So soft. I haven't tried those Blackwing things yet but I doubt they're *that* much better.
Yeah, notebooks are really useful! I didn't really like the pattern, so I changed to this.. It's from Muji, and it's the same price, but a lot better looking :)
It just feels a lot better to write things down on paper! I know some people also like taking notes in class in regular notebooks instead of using a laptop/tablet too. And also, I don't use a smart phone, so I can't take notes with my phone.
Oh thanks :)
Btw WHY is there nowhere in Canada that sells these beeaauuutiful cards? I could ship them from the US on Amazon or eBay, but then they'd come up to like $20, which is a crazy price for a stack of paper. Man I wish I had these...
that is nice, and I'm pretty tired of the generic-school-look it has
I was thinking of just getting a moleskin or getting a pack of field notes since I do graphs a lot
I'm all for integrating tech, but it's much easier to use a small notebook than my phone
it's a physical aspect
I usually groan when people say they use real books because "it feels right" and all that, but writing in my notebook serves me since it's an actual dedicated carry I feel more obligated to look notes/tasks that I write down
plus I can rip out pages
and I don't have to worry about battery
it's ironically more convenient
What do you do with the launch pad? Do you actually carry it around everywhere?
And >1800... lol you're like my friends who log onto Ellusionist and pick the most eye-catching cards they can get, like the fire / water / shadow / vintage ones. They're a novelty I guess, but they're so gimmicky.
The only decent decks they've produced are >>9361982 (i want these so bad), Erdnase Green and Madison Rounders. Theory 11 has some alright stuff like Bees Stingers but the designs aren't that out of the ordinary compared to Ellusionist. I guess I just like decks that you can actually use as normal playing cards where nobody will notice the difference.
I tend to just wear 2 bracelets which most of the time match my tie (Workplace requires one)
3DS stays most of the time in my car, never actually carry it around, just use it when traffic is super slow.
What kind of workplace requires you to wear bracelets? That's an odd requirement. By the way, I really love all the stripes and patterns you have going on on everything.
And about the stripes, I just fucking love the pattern.
Fucked up by not getting the slim tie over the big boy sized one, but I'll get it once spring season starts and donate the current one to a coworker.
why does it seem like every new tripfriend hasn't left there computer in ages
Like, do you just post everywhere since you started using a trip to get recognition
I feel like if you only posted slowly and a little at a time and then built up to being in every fucking thread, then maybe I could tolerate or value your opinion,
i think drafting pencils are pretty nerdy items to have.
nobody drafts on Size E paper by hand anymore
my undergrad drafting courses were almost 10 years ago now, and even then i found it faster to just o-space-c the dimensions in Autocad
some people would go in and fix their datum input errors with pencil
but i found it easier just to re-plot after having everyone in the engineering building look at you crumple a size E plot into a little ball and trash can it.
I ordered a new camera a few hours ago, so I guess I'll start carrying that as well.
