going down to the screenprinting kiosk at the mall today to get this on a t-shirt
L.A. Ring is pretty known danish artist as well, but his painting are great.
from what I understand, he was never fond of the art nouveau stuff he did, viewing it as commercial rather than artistic.
Doesn't make him Kitsch though.
And yes, he was a brilliant fine art painter besides his commercial work as a graphic artist.
My nigga. I love me some Borremans. Went to the BOZAR recently?
jacque louis david & francisco goya >>>>
>tfw i will never have my portrait painted by john singer sargent
Salvador Dali, Vincent van Gogh and Piet Mondriaan are my favourites.
probably Matisse (I also like Picasso, Klimt, Nolde, Gauguin...)
I'm a sucker for colour so my favourites centre around matisse, klee, gauguin, turner, bonnard & watteau
He's definitely not my fave, but I've been checking Domergue recently.
Francisco De Goya especially the Black Paintings
>what is this style called and where can i find more?
also like dore, and im a fan of john baizley so naturally i like mucha
just wanted to post enough to get suggestions for similar artists.
Pretty sure the whole point of art nouveau is that it had more commercial, rather than artistic, merit.
This is coming from a course of music history where plastic arts are studied tangentially so I might be wrong.
he does some really cool texture studies too
zdzisław beksiński is a fucked up dude. I studied him for a while and thinking about his stuff too much really started to put me in a bad place.
His digital work is absolute garbage though.
i found this self portrait to be really potent
yeah, Bosch is always a fun one
his works always have a lot going on
getting it on a tee would be stupid though
Goya is great. This is one of my favorite paintings.
William Thon. He went blind in later years but still managed to paint in monochrome from memory. My dad has a sketch of his of a boat and the lines are so beautiful and powerful. You really feel the pull of the sea.
