>>9576451 Yeah, 1+2 is supposed to come out around Q3 this year
All I know is that if you're gonna get a smart phone you'll be paying more than $20/mo. Not sure about the States but in Canada I'm guessing the minimum would be ~$40/month
I'm not sure what company but I remember talking about a modern flip phone that someone has (samsung, nokia, blackberry??? can't remember which).. But maybe something like that would interest you if you don't need all the perks of a smartphone but need something a bit better than a throwaway drug dealer phone lol
>>9576515 You need a mobile data plan with smartphones, not just talk + text
>>9576516 i don't really get what you're saying about the 40y/o guy or whatever..
I haven't really argued phone's here, just what I think is the best right now and which is best value for money..
Only time I'll ever argue is against Apple, and that's not limited to phones.
But you're right though, nobody gives a shit. Everyone's got a phone and they all do the same shit. Specs don't matter to 90% of consumers anyways.. They could be using tech from 2009 and wouldn't even know it
>>9576292 >buying phones on credit see that's why you're working at mcburgers
I'd say Nokia Lumias or Jollas are pretty effay, especially if you want to be a special snowflake. Samsung is plastic crap, iPhones have become common as fuck (they're still great phones though, it would be my second choice), but if you really wanted a decent android phone I'd get a Sony.
>>9576584 I think you actually do need it, though. I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure a data plan is required on smart phones.. You'd have to check with whatever phone company you want on that though
Yeah, that's the edge. I guess it's for notifications and stuff like that. Different contacts flash different colours so if your phone is face down you can still tell who's calling. As far as I know that's the only advantage lol
>>9576608 Yeah I'm not too sure about all that.. My first Samsung phone was the S3 and it served me pretty good minus a couple issues here and there.. Don't know much else as before that I had Blackberry lol
Won't be going back to them though, 1+1 arrived in the mail today and that'll be my phone for the next year or so..
>>9576628 Yeah the 1+1 is pretty nice, I love the material they used on the back, it's so nice on your hands. But Android has become what Windows is to computers, bloated because of the huge amount of hardware that the OS supports.
but I'm a Microsoft fanboy to the core, so I'll stick to Nokia's
>>9576765 >>9576762 But yeah, you guys are probably right. I do remember hearing a lot more about Ubuntu around the time 10-12 versions were out. I'm in web development so I still use Linux on 2/3 computers though... It's too bad because it's by far the best OS out there.
I heard they're working on another Ubuntu phone though. Not too sure how credible the source but wouldn't doubt it
>>9576795 >where linux has been relevant and widely supported since forever can you please stop rechewing and repeating everything anyone says?
you contribute nothing, drop your trip or fucking kill yourself already
>>9576830 >ubuntu sucks for everything >windows/mac are better for computers >ios/android are better for phones >debian is better for your gay nerdy web server shit >literally no reason to use ubuntu you dense fuck, seriously, kill yourself
>>9576855 could you please supply proper arguments on why >ubuntu sucks for everything >windows/mac are better for computers >ios/android are better for phones >debian is better for your gay nerdy web server shit >literally no reason to use ubuntu
just the fact that you don't know the difference between OSX and a Mac proves you're a dense fuck
but hey here I go: >ubuntu is a great distro for people looking to get into linux >Windows/iOS are not objectively better than any linux distribution, by the way did you know that OSX is based on Unix, just like linux is, no way right haha?! XD >iOS/Android aren't objectively better than WP, Balmer just fucked Microsoft over and therefor iOS/Android got a head start >Debian is so widely used because it's a fucking beast? Gay nerdy web admins are the only reason you can surf to 4chan right now
you're just a fucking idiot with tunnel vision, jumping on any bandwagon of internet maymays >fuck internet explorer XD
>>9576897 >ubuntu is a great distro for people looking to get into linux okay, you have a point
>Windows/iOS are not objectively better than any linux distribution, by the way did you know that OSX is based on Unix, just like linux is, no way right haha?! XD yeah, except os x is actually user friendly
>iOS/Android aren't objectively better than WP, Balmer just fucked Microsoft over and therefor iOS/Android got a head start which makes them objectively better than wp, and all of them are better than the trainwreck that was going to be ubuntu for mobile
>Debian is so widely used because it's a fucking beast? Gay nerdy web admins are the only reason you can surf to 4chan right now yeah, which is why debian is better than ubuntu. work on your reading comprehension
Well, I left for a bit and this convo turned into a pissing contest... I just want one of you Linux haters to explain WHY it "sucks" and is useless?
The way I see it is that it's hands down the best OS available. Only place it falls short is software compatibility, and even there it's constantly growing. Might not ever catch up to Windows and Linux, but unless you need a niche app, you probably won't even notice..
And it's capabilities as far as what it CAN do, it's just so far ahead of Windows and OS X that it's not even an argument..
So I really fail to see how it "sucks".. Sure, it's not nearly as mainstream or popular as the other OSs, but it certainly does not suck.....
>>9577206 you would be better off ignoring this. Like all other OS discussions it's just hyperbole and fallacies. for some reason OS choice is hugely personal and people can't distance themselves from the argument. Just use what works best for you and don't care what others think.
it doesn't run professional level software it has numerous fomatting and compatability issues with mainstream professional environment utilities
linux is good for a student or for web borwsing
but you're not running cosmosflow works on it and when you're talking to a supplier from china and you send him a document in .XML because you're too cheap to buy industry standard and download some obscure shit from sourceforge or someshit you lose money and time
college kids can't swing the $3000 it takes to setup a decent workstation so it's understandable
>redhat and fedora cost money that's 2, out of a LOT...
>it doesn't run professional level software and what software is that? I mentioned earlier it doesn't work with Photoshop, and if you read that it's one of the few things Linux lacks in.
Honestly, all of your points seem to be referring to the "arts".. Music, Design, etc.. Which I pointed out earlier is niche shit man..
It really seems you have NO idea what Linux is best for. There's a reason a large majority of websites run on it...
>linux is good for a student or for web borwsing 100% made up bullshit..
>but you're not running cosmosflow works on it and when you're talking to a supplier from china and you send him a document in .XML because you're too cheap to buy industry standard and download some obscure shit from sourceforge or someshit you lose money and time What are you even saying? PS I work with people from China.. And if file format is your biggest problem then you're laughing, son..
college kids can't swing the $3000 it takes to setup a decent workstation so it's understandable Eat it up, bud.. dropping $3K on a machine you can buy for half the price. For a better product (higher specs). Because you're too important to spend a couple hours installing what you need on your computer when you buy it. It's all there out the box. So easy. Worth double the price for sure... Right?
holy fuck people fuck off back to /g/ ,we discuss form here, not function.
pic related is the most effay phone. it's different. it looks expensive. has enough detail to make it interesting. metal arrow gives it a very premium look, but the plastic back makes it understated at the same time. also gives you a special snowflake aura as mentioned above.
