Really loving woodcut illustrations and thinking of getting the wounded man as a tattoo
I think this will either be pretty cool or pretty stupid to get something alike. Maybe not as big and maybe it twirling around my upper arm but starting from my armpit.
yo this is really cute
like a peek a boo tattoo :3
Mine, not done yet, will fill in just black
>nb4 not being /fit/
Got this when I was either 14 or 15 from an old hawaiian, a friend of my grandfather. He did it with a single needle walkman gun. Still my favorite tat.
I was thinking about getting some eva inspired tattoo similar to pic related, something not too "in your face" so its not obvious I got an anime tat, what do you think?
>inb4 disgusting weeb
thanx, everyone thinks its a butterfly. its a moth but i dont correct people cause im not a prick and idgaf
i got it to celebrate the life of a close friend who had passed away and i was pretty overcome with blinding grief at the time. he had a gypsy moth (in a completely different style) hand tatted. in hindsight, it was a pretty rash decision, but i definitely havent regretted it in the slightest
what if i got this in the same place as pic
please be nice
that's not a woodcut, that's engraving
woodcuts are way less detailed and more crude compared to embroidery and they both have kinda distinct styles that come from the limitations of the techniques
Also using the right term makes searching for inspo or pics you might want to get tattooed way fucking easier, not trying to be a dick.
I got this elbow piece, last night, it hurt so much.
Also im an apprentice at the studio so ask any questions (:
>getting wood carving tattoos
Congrats on your newst trend tattoo. You will be remembered as the tool who got himself that tattoo that tumblr liked ca 2014/15.
Fucking idiots, get yourself something timeless and solid.
Been considering something similar. Would have it framed and contained within the black borders.
If you're going to have your skin *permanently* stained by an artist who you should be paying a fair sum of money, I reckon you should have a meaning for it.
It doesn't have to be very deep but having a deerhead and cross or w/e because "it just looks nice" is a bit wet.
if someone wants a decorative modification to their body, it can be in whatever mode they want.
does every painting or song require some deep and meaningful backstory?
the funny thing is, the core tattoo scene gets tattoos for some intrinsic value and doesn't apply all these extra ideas to it.
it's the yuppies, posers, and hipsters who are trying to dip into the aesthetic that champion having some deep meaningful connection to the art
so many people get caught up trying to get a meaningful tattoo that they forget about the aesthetics. it's better to have a meaningless, but pretty tat than have a shitty ugly meaningful tat (i.e. photo realistic baby handprints, badly done portraits, a lot of script tattoos out there)
What do you guys think of getting a line of poetry tattooed on your ribcage? I'd probably think someone else was trying too hard to be deep and philosophical if I saw it but I've been thinking about getting it done myself a lot lately
not to hate but as someone whos very passionate about irezumi and tattooing in general those waves are god awful, theres waaay too much shading and the shading is waaay too dark, and looks like they were done by an artist who doesnt really do irezumi, or didnt really research how to do it well
the cross and the rose dont look too bad though.
id hate to know how much you wasted :/
no. tribal teir is old school american tradional,
alllll the tumblr hipster core figits that wear beards and flannel have them
i dont mind old school american tradional, but its waay too easy of a style for someone who isnt an artist to learn and then proceed to order a shitty cheap tattoo kit online, and fuck themselves and their friends up
holy shit triangle tattoos are literally the gayest shit out there
why the fuck would you want fucking triangles on your body
its so fucking lame and tumblr gay it makes my dick go limp and my mother start crying
swear to god
irezumi has been timeless since its inception back in the edo period when woodblock printers were some of the 1st tattoo artists and would use the same or similar tools they used for doing their woodblocks with and would do designs similar to the the tattooed hero's portrayed in the woodprints at the time
but i will give you this
they do make you look like a battered old seadog when youre old as feck with old school american tradional
but doesn't irezumi basically require getting sleeves/full pieces to look proper? also its basically a weaboo stamp on a white person
small american traditional pieces will still look good by themselves
its like you dont even know the meaning of this trendy word
"Examples include sports teams using Native American tribal names, images, or human beings as mascots; wearing jewelry or fashion with religious symbols such as the war bonnet, medicine wheel, or cross without any belief in those religions; appropriating other culture's history such as tattoos of Polynesian tribal iconography, Chinese characters, or Celtic art worn by people who have no interest in, or understanding of, their original cultural significance. When these cultural artifacts are taken from living cultures and regarded as objects that merely "look cool," or when they are mass-produced cheaply as consumer kitsch, people who venerate and wish to preserve their indigenous cultural traditions are often offended."
you honestly think that EVERYONE that gets tattoos from different cultures ONLY get them to look cool?
and dont do any homework or research into that artform or culture to see if they relate to it or not?
thats ridiculous, also no one ever gives asians shit for wearing american tradional tattoo's when they've never been in service to the american army/navy so fuck off you troll
well idk about it having to be "proper" but most ppl who really like the art of irezumi get some sort of suit, im planning on getting my back and 3/4 sleeves done,
and if you're always scared about what other ppl think then no one would get anything done, art or otherwise, im the one that has to look at it and live with it the rest of my life, so it makes no sense in getting something just because of my race, thats sorta racist dontcha think?
Art's art, and this style of art has meaning's that i can relate and strive to, like determination, and tenacity, strength, and courage
and as an artist i get bored of things easily so the only way that i can have a tattoo is if i can relate to it and have a connection with it, so its not just a fashion piece that ill eventually get bored of, it has to mean something to me
ive been a fatass my whole life and was always picked on and never had any respect and the last few years ive been trying to shed that fat and build a body that i can respect and demands respect, and when i have that body that im not disgusted looking at in the mirror is when i'll i get my tattoos as a way of solidifying my new version of me, that isnt a fat wimpy pushover and is happy with life
but thats me and those are my reasons, youd be surprised by the reasons ppl get tattoo's if you take the time to ask and listen
not everyone just wants them as fashion accessories
does someone know what is the meaning of the hand in the picture? ive seen it before without the geometric shape at the center and always wondered what does it mean.. anyway im just curious..
thanks heres second, there's coloring that needs to be done. heres natty boh with the utz chips girl dancing, i used to be a ballroom dance instructor so this one is pretty dank
Found this on leddit. Thinking of getting this on my side as my first piece. Any opinions?
what the fuck is even going on with your sleeve. no cohesion at all, shit pieces, and your placement makes no sense which enhances just how bad the work on your arm is.
at this point i'd seriously consider blacking out your arm.
pretty corny, but if you like it that's all that matters. a circular design would translate a lot better on your shoulder or chest. this tattoo will also be a really easy one to fuck up with all the detail and negative space and has a high risk of looking awful.
research intensely about the tattoo artists in your area or around you and comb through their portfolios. don't skimp, you get the tattoos you pay for.
