what sort of compliments/reactions have you gotten to higher end pieces?
i think it's interesting to see how people with less vast understanding of fashion would react to the more out there pieces
i wonder is anybody's gotten the age old 'nice converse' on their ramones
>what sort of compliments/reactions have you gotten to higher end pieces?
I have one pleb friend (female girl born in china) who always compliments me on my designer clothes. She dresses frumpy as hell and seems to have no clue how to properly dress herself, but always likes my clothes.
Most of the compliments are just things like "cool" or "interesting"
but more recently I've stopped wearing my more "out-there" designer pieces and just stick to more casual, unassuming clothes.
I've only ever gotten compliments on my lower end pieces. Backpack from Target, boots from Marshall's, Nautica Voyage cologne. That's why it's hard to justify buying anything too expensive. Unless you are doing it for yourself, not many other people know or care how great the quality or name brand your piece might be.
not a whole lot anymore, I used to own a lot of damir doma before I sold it
now i wear stuff like billy reid, dries van noten, apc, and probably some other labels i can't remember right now
tbh my billy reid stuff gets way more compliments than anything else
dammit i found this brand circa 2008 at saks and haven't mentioned shit hoping reddit/styleforum didn't turn it into the new fedora like raf simons
construction is pretty damn good for a non-luxury brand
and the styling is forward for a man in his mid-20's
rather than the damir doma, ann d teenage dress up brands
It depends but I have found the only pieces people like of mine that are designer are things they can easily relate back to more basic and well known items. For example
>Ann D hightops
People love these because they look like your standard converse fucked a combat boot and this is what came after. Both very common items for normies so easily related to
>UC Joy Division hoodie
I know /fa/ has an aversion to anything Unknown Pleasures now because of hipsters in the recent years making it into a meme, but normal people still love it. I get compliments almost every time I wear it because people think its so cool.
A lot of people are just kind of in awe as well, especially since a good majority of them have never even seen something remotely resembling high fashion. This is where I think a lot of people here get the idea that because you are into high fashion you are automatically a shut in weirdo now. Yes you obviously look different to the normal eye but if you can style i right I have found you can always be quite approachable no matter what you might be wearing. Styling is so important when it comes to stuff like this, but sometimes there is nothing you can do and the pieces or look can just be to out there for people.
if you were wearing this fit, for example, would you get any strange looks or comments? considering how normal yet slightly different it is
I agree with you (I grew out of my teenage dress up damir doma phase thank god)
I actually first came across billy reid like 2010 when I found a shirt at marshalls that i bought. still wear it all the time and no other single piece of clothing has gotten as many compliments as that one has. I like that the label is relatively unknown (at least in the midwest where there aren't any stores). his stuff seems to have gotten more expensive in the past few years though
plus he kinda looks like you sieg
People always ask what pieces I wear, and I never feel like telling them because it's too much work.
So I just thank them and tell them I buy my clothes online or give them a vague response.
I swear I'm not autistic.
> less vast understanding
Any two people on the opposite ends of understanding something, whether it be fashion or grammar, will usually be uncomfortable around the other, if not outright hostile.
guy walked past me and said "nice come up on the qasas" I said thanks
another asked where I copped my velcros
guy walking past me was looking really hard at my velcros, not really hiding the fact.. Kinda weird. I think he wanted to say something since he looked beginner-/fa/ esque
guy asked me where I got my norse projects shirt
complimented a guy on his arenas, but then I was wearing mine too
complimented a guy on his guidis
possibly more but those are all I can remember atm
>nice shoes anon
>nice shoes anon, lol do you buy a new pair every week?
>well again, nice shoes anon
>nice jacket anon
>nice sweater anon
>is that a new shirt?
Idk it's usual here to compliment new clothes, we always do it in my circle of friends, and they're not even into fashion.
>No it's the vintage ones. I got them on sale for $200
There's no such things as "vintage" common projects. The label hasn't even been around that long. You're just wearing used shoes from a few years ago. I could go to goodwill and buy a pair of 6 year old reeboks for a couple of dollars but I wouldn't call them "vintage"
and common projects are explicitly influenced by converse (and stan smiths).
he's talking about common projects vintage high in white. it's just a name. it refers to the fact that the shoe has a yellow sole the say way old/vintage shoes do
is this a reverse troll?
have you ever seen rick in public? i suppose it depends on where you are, i see people in rick quite often in london and it doesnt look strange at all
not to mention, wearing rick doesnt mean decking yourself out in full goof attire at all. the picture in the op is hardly that strange but he's still wearing ramones
why did you mention rick anyway?
I'm always annoyed when people ask how much did i pay for my stuff. Like, it's not their business nor their money.
>wow you paid how much?
>how could you spend so much on clothes
>you could buy a car for the price of those shoes
honestly what are you trying to prove? is this a troll? the anon bought and likes his shoes, other people like his shoes, it's that simple. you're entitled to your opinion that every single model of cp ever made is rubbish, sure, but there's no need for shitposting
Same. I'm a pretty humble person so when people constantly ask me I try to push it off, but usually they won't let it go till I tell them. But it's always the same after I do.
>wtf that's so much why would you ever pay so much
>they're just clothes...
Oh and my personal favorite
>no need to brag
Right after I told them I didn't want to say how much. I swear some people are just way to worried about what others are spending they're money on.
I was wearing my Supreme x CDG polka dot hoodie and some guy at uni nodded at me as I passed him in the hallway and pointed out my hoodie.
I thought dressing nicely in the suburban South would just get me called faggot by every redneck ever.
Actually rednecks treat me exactly the same, but old people fucking love me now. It's unbelievable the amount of old people I get asking where I got my shoes, or just initiating random conversation with me.
My theory is that old people really cared more about how they dressed, so when they see a young person doing it, even if it's kind of crazy, they're going to respect them more for not just wearing sweatpants and a monster energy shirt.
I'm white too though, not sure how this would work on a black dude.
Because they look sick I don't supporting a company that makes clothes which I like and enjoy wearing.
There's also the fact that branded clothing is a status symbol but personally I don't consider this as important as the first point because I'm not a 3rd world nigger.
Err, that was supposed to be "I don't mind supporting a company..."
Sadly sold that knit and the post office lost it. I've done something pretty similar though. Yeah I plan on getting them from grailed but I dont want canvas or mesh and the leather pairs are much harder to coke by in my size surprisingly.
Chromosome are either XX female or XY male
>having a high school education
literally nothing else exists, anything else is fucking mental disorders, go fuck yourself
FUCK minorities! Especially the mental ones, thinking their in any way different form anyone else because they say so, and force others to support their lunacy. Imagine if the only thing in your life that was interesting or that you talked about was your fucking sex, or sexual preference, wouldn't that be fucking boring?
>literally every fucking tumblr retard
I had a pair of drkshdw ramones his in brown canvas. Got a few compliments but nobody thought they were converse, theyre noticeably bulkier in person.
My Hender Scheme NBs get complimented almost every time I wear them, mostly by college peeps tho i dont think anyone has known what they are. my stepdad thought my Hender vans were "weird knockoffs" so theres that lol
I also had this digawel shirt with a big bird emboridered on it before i sold it (sized it too big) and got compliments literally every time i wore it out
pretty much anything bold will get complimented but thats not always a good thing
"If you ever go as Gandhi for Halloween it could be good?"
>wearing a pair of Frye boots (left)
>mention that I'm breaking them in
"Oh but those are your Anna Demyulahmonster boots, you've had them forever!"
(they were not my Ann Demeulemeester boots. The Ann Demeulemeester boot is on the right)
I get fed up with this kind of hyper-correcting as well by tumblr types, but there are various types of true and pseudohermaphroditisms that can occur from genetic or developmental defects. Saying there's just XX and XY makes you sound ignorant.
I don't ind as long as it's on anime image boards as that's what they're for.
Just glad I still get pussy.
>Chromosome are either XX female or XY male
>>literally nothing else exists
>there are various types of true and pseudohermaphroditisms that can occur from genetic or developmental defects
>anything else is a mutation/disorder/syndrome
that was clarified you dumb shit. it doesn't make your original argument statement correct.
"literally nothing else exists, anything else is fucking mental disorders" there are genetic disorders which are different where people can have XXY or even just X or just Y
I get some nice compliments on my duffel coat from gloverall. But usually /fa/ hates it because I'm a fuccboi.
I mean high fashion really won't earn you compliments because except from people interested in high fashion.
Bench, lat pulls
3 sets til failure
Squat or deadlift pick one cause doing both in the same day is always shitty, you won't be able to stand up or take a shit and get up without using your hands. Clean
3 sets 5-8 heavy weight
Aux lifts, Bis and Tris if you want, focused muscle groups you want that you missed earlier in the week.
Women love my Jil Sander Sidezips.
Ironically nobody bats an eye if i wear Rick anything but the second I wear Rick shorts with leggings people raise an eyebrow.
>Haha, whats that?
>Haha, whats that?
>Haha, whats that?
>Haha, whats that?
I hope so too
I was just really tired and automatically attached an anime picture as I was previously shitposting, sorry.
