In fact heavy compounds are shit builders of them.

His shoulders and arms ARE well built.
Successful strongmen tend to be tall, with massive rib cages and thick bones.
They also have wide pelvis and hips.
Plus massive core muscles, and colossal Traps.
That means he is going to have a wide torso, and sort of sloped shoulder look, even when well developed.
The torso width takes away visually from how big his arms look, when look directly at the front on his relaxed arms.

The same people who keep saying to do SS also keep saying ATG.
But Mr Marcus Rippletoe says that the squats in SS are low bar squats and you CANNOT do those ATG. The whole point is that your torso is more parallel with the floor than it is vertical to recruit and stretch out your hamstrings and make use of the elastic reflex or whatever
he says to squat to parrelel because anything lower than that requires you to relax some muscles.
His method is for using the most amount of muscle within the most efficient range of motion to lift the most amount of weight
This. If you want to lift as heavy as possible, go wide stance, parallel, low bar. If you just want to increase your strength somewhat and don't care about your total but want to stay mobile and already have good mobility go hip width, ATG, high bar or front squat.

What sport should I start doing as an adult?
I want to stop playing video games and do something more athletic with my time. Problem is that I've never really played any sport growing up, so I don't really know what I sport I should do now that I'm an adult.
I've considered getting into table tennis or long distance skiing (I live in Scandinavia). However the first one seems slightly autistic and I'd only be able to practice skiing during the winter. Do you guys have any other suggestions or experience with this problem?
