I've been going to the gym for three years and I see visible progress in muscle gains. However I still fail to do any "hanging" exercises. I can neither do 1 pull-up nor a front lever. How is this possible? Are there people who are genetically unable to do those things despite being generally strong?
And before you ask, I have been specifically doing all the preparatory exercises. I have no problem with rows and lat pull-downs, or with leg raises and L-sits. But as soon as I'm hanging, nothing works.

started off a very fat 190lbs 5'10 male. when I tried getting serious, I was eating 2kcals and went down to 185 while improving in lifts dramatically. however, I guess it was water weight or something because I stopped losing weight, so I started eating 1500 cals a day and went from down 175 lbs while maintaining my lifts/watching some go down a little. I looked much better, was developing some visible muscle, and felt comfortable in my own skin.
but /fit/ told me I'd just turn into a flabby skelly with no muscle and I was wasting time if my lifts weren't improving. so this past month, I ate 2k cals and my lifts are going up again, but I'm becoming gross and chubby again. if I keep this up, I think I'll end up at 190lbs looking the same with just slightly broader shoulders. then I'd cut and probably lose that muscle, making it all a big waste of time.
even now at 185, I have to just tell myself in my head "this is good" even though glimpses in the mirror depress me and people around me will think "wow, poor anon is gaining weight".
most people I know IRL seem like they just eat normal then lift normal and then get muscles. is this a feasible path? any advice?

So cut until 10%, then bulk until you barely see your abs. If you're paranoid about losing muscle, do a recomp until you're 10% again and then bulk again, or you can just cut. Then bulk and so on.

It's your diet. Thinning like that occurs mostly due to diet. Roids have little to do with it, they cause balding not spot thinning. Eat fish oil, vitamin B12, make sure your preworkout has taurine in it. Get enough vitamin A as well. This hasn't been proven but ostarine and mk 677 might help as well, they certainly won't hurt.

Also do some cardio right before you shower and then massage the shit out of your scalp when shampooing. This helps the blood flow in your scalp. It will help if the cause of thinning was poor nutrition.

I once went through a manorexic and then vegetarian phase (because you have to eat a lot as a vegetarian to gain weight) because I was fat. I remained grossly thin, 6'2" 160lb, exercising a lot towards the end of the anorexic phase because I had body dysmorphia/still thought I was fat. From 7th grade to 10th I looked pretty good at around 180-190lbs. During like junior year of HS, I ballooned up to 280lbs because of Abilify and other SSRI's that make you tired and hungry all the time.

Also, I'm on SSRI's, been taking different ones for years. Would it be helpful if I like, bought an Oz, weened off my meds with like a bong hit in the morning until I felt good and then did acid? I heard certain hallucinogens can be extremely effective for treating depression.

Eat less do more if you want to lose weight. Dedication isn't "built up" you have it or you fucking don't. If you want motivation to work out, then lift some damn weights, once you have a pump you'll understand. Running sucks and will never be fun, ever, you do it so your heart doesn't die. Just walking around is not good for anything except for geriatrics to stave off sarcopenia.
Yeah but like, I'm gonna lose weight for looks, and walk as a precursor to running for dopamines/gray matter. It's difficult to go outside because crippling depression. Figured if I want to start running but can't force myself to get started, walking would be a good start.
