How effective is it to just use your own bodyweight to tone up?
I've got crippling social anxiety and cannot go to a gym without being self-concious about myself as fuck to the point of throwing up.
I don't plan on bodybuilding, I'd just like to tone up what I have and develop a healthy exercise routine since I pretty much stopped once I graduated from high school.

I recommend looking into torrenting Never Gymless by Ross Enamait. The static/dynamic protocol is excellent. Naked Warrior by Pavel has good info, but way too much fluff. The most valuable thing to glean from that is that you should not shoot for tons of reps. Slow the tempo, and flex the working muscles hard as you do the exercise, and you can get just as good a workout as you can with weights.
Any exercise is better than none. Gyms are nice but I got fucked over by hidden fees too many times and decided to go /homegym/ with free weights, an affordable rack and bench. It's ghetto but it works.
You could even just find a playground in a public park and go bar starzz mode on the monkey bars at 5:30 AM when no one is around. You do you, mein neger.
How do i get good sleep.
I work 9-5 and go to bed at around midnight, i usually get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep, the occasional piss at 3-4am.
Is this good enough to not tarnish my gains?
Well it's dependent on your individual needs and age plays a factor as well. Assuming you're 20+ eight hours of sleep is great for the most part. However, try and get to bed earlier and get up earlier instead. If you can 8-10 hours of sleep is best and, if you're feeling drained a short nap can go a long way; just don't sleep more than you need. Don't want to wake up incapacitated by that nasty "sleep fog".
So /fit/, what to you think of weighted vests for cardio and calisthenics? Im considering a 20kg-30kg vest to simulate combat gear whilst training, as Im in the military.
