What can you do to slow or reverse a receding hairline? Is there anything that isn't snake oil that works? I read about removing DHT from the scalp and using oils to help hair grow back but I don't know how to go about that.
I will eventually. But im only in my mid twenties and wouldnt mind keeping my hairline as is or slightly reversing it for a bit longer if I can. It's still pretty think on top and I dont have any patches, just the receding part.
is there any hope for me brahs?
i'm 27, just noticed my thin crown a few weeks ago and can't get that shit out of my head. had no idea it's that bad. no one ever told me.
already started minoxidil, gonna hop on finasteride and nizoral soon, hopefully i won't get the dreadful seids.
Is Propecia worth it? Everyone on /fit/ seem to have horror stories to tell, but I heard the success rate is extremely high and the precentage of people who get side effects is extremely low.
Will it effect my "manliness"? Will it effect my gains?
i don't mind the hairline/front that much which is why i avoided using anything so far, but the crown really freaked me the fuck out. it looks much worse under sunlight and shit.
I have more or less the same problem but worse.
I tried shittons of shampoos but honestly non of them was actually effective (also in long term they are most likely be useless).
So basically shampoo/oil/hair grow caps are more or less useless, however I don't deny the fact they can help, but I highly doubt they are permanent solution.
I recently met a doc and she suggested I should go to the hospital so they can check my blood, and then I can take the next move, if these things didn't work.
I more or less already know that I have 2 options: Drugs or hair transplant, or maybe both. You can't grow back something what is not there anymore, so if your case is like mine you better get your wallet ready.
Everybody keeps talking about how finasteride stops hair loss
But are there drugs that, in addition to finasteride or by themselves, will START hair gain?
Finasteride is said to cause hair growth in about 60%, Minoxidil has some success too. Anything that stops the loss can't make room for some growth, though they said it is much easier to prevent it than to treat it. As in, don't expect miracles once you lost a lot of hair.
I had the same problem when I was 23: my hair was falling at a disturbingly fast rate. Had to do something.
I read most studies about Finasteride (Propecia/Proscar) and gave it a shot. After 6 months the problem was almost gone. Kept using it until last year (I'm 31). My brother has very similar hair - he let it go and he's bald today. I'm not.
So, say what you want about finasteride, the reality is that it worked for me. I never felt any side-effect, but I guess that can vary. I feel like I had a crazy high testosterone level in my early 20's - whatever loss of sexual drive people are talking about never affected me. I was, and still am, a horny motherfucker.
If you're on a budget check our Proscar. When you cut it in quarters it gives you about the same dose as Propecia, at less than half the price. If you go generic it falls under 10% of the price of Propecia.
Yours isn't that terrible. I'm about to shave mine completely.
I've tried Minoxidil but all it did was make vellus hair (peach fuzz) pop up every where
studies show that minoxidil monotherapy slows hairloss down for about 3 months or so, but after that hairloss quickly starts up again at the same rate as if you had never used the drug
Was tired of taking a pill every day, and at 31 I don't really give a shit anymore. It's been a year since I stopped and nothing changed.
It just stopped hair loss. Hadn't lost a lot though.
My advice, if this is something that's as important to you as it was to me, is to try it for 6 months. Take a picture on day 1 and compare after 6 months, and look for a constant (not temporary) loss of sex drive.
>It's been a year since I stopped and nothing changed.
this is interesting to me.were you definitely losing it? it's pretty much widely accepted that hairloss begins again quickly post-finasteride.
I was just wondering if it didnt inhibit muscle gain, since Im not sure if im losing hair and considering hopping on fin just to be sure
my hairline is already matured but ive noticing some hairs after taking shower so thats making me scared
My unscientific theory is that my testosterone level (which gets converted to dihydrotestosterone due to 5α-reductase, when you're not on finasteride) is lower right now.
I haven't really paid that much attention, but people tell me that it doesn't look like I've ever lost hair.
Everyone in my family, on both sides, is bald. Considering that I was clearly losing hair at 23, I think my trajectory was not to look like what I look today.
Just save up for a couple months and get a transplant. Your recession is minimal so it would be relatively affordable. Take a look at Matt McConaughey, he got a hair transplant ten years ago and it looks great.
Looks like we found the two closet cases on /fit
Finasteride does nothing to testosterone. Is inhibit an enzine that converts testosterone to DHT, which causes hairloss.
Your gains shall be preserved.

what about facial hair? I'm in my mid-twenties but I still have several patchy spots in my beard that are slowly filling out. wouldn't inhibiting DHT stop facial hair from maturing?
Here's my crown.
It's looked the same for the past 3 years, so I don't know if its actually balding.
As much as I've read on finasteride and all potential side-effects, I've never seen anything that talked about facial hair.
I don't think DHT would cause facial hair to stop growing though. Just speculating. I'm not sure.
It's difficult to tell just by looking at how much hair is left in your hand, or in the shower. The best way is to take a picture every month and compare over a long period of time.
I started taking it, along with minox, in January whilst at a NW 3 level. In terms of progress, I haven't noticed much, but it can take at least 6 months. The only sides I've gotten from fin include initial ball ache (for maybe 2 weeks, including one day which was extremely bad, imagine the feeling just after getting kicked in the balls...but for 10 hours straight) and slightly less viscous semen. No ED at all, quite the opposite in fact. Minox sides have been worse for me, bumps on my forehead and a bit of acne.
btw it reminded me that my gf used to have a defficiency of some kind, don't remember what, back when she was a loli kid many years ago
it made her scrape the walls and eat the chalk that came out. she could not resist the urge. she thought that she was insane and kept it a secret, only years later found out what the cause was
interesting how our mind is fucked up
Does anyone have any experience with hair loss due to stress? In the past half a year or so I've been under constant stress with grad school, and recently I've noticed my hair looks thin; it seems very sudden, I have no history of family baldness, and it doesn't really look like a standard male pattern baldness (diffuse, over whole scalp pretty much). I can't think of many changes that have occurred other than the stress (with a few panic attacks, depression, etc.)
anyone had success with minoxidil for facial hair?
been using it for about 3 months to grow my beard connectors, no success so far (i use what's left on my fingers after applying to the hair)
This is what happened to me with working a 9 to 5 and going to school full time. I've been taking it easy and learning to control my anxiety and it seems to be thickening up a little, though not back to what it was.
Reddit has the good stuff on this
probably too late but w/e. I didn't exactly rationalize it, I just pretended it wasn't much of a problem much like a fatty and junk food. It basically just started as paying with my hair absent-mindedly while studying, and then I'd pluck a few hairs out without thinking about it. For some reason it felt good, like a dopamine release or whatever it is. It was only a few hairs at a time, so it didn't seem like a big deal since I have tons of hair. Well, it adds up after a while.
Its not too bad tho, I got my hair buzzed short so I had nothing to grab and got off the adderall.
Now that I think about it more, the hair pulling is a lot like picking at scabs or biting nails.
I've thought about taking finasteride just to get rid of the DHT, hair notwithstanding,
but I thought all these drugs were only effective for crown hair loss, not hairline. Is that not true?
read this and stop being a faggot, man the fuck up
this only works for guys with manly handsome faces. Guys with androgynous cute features get wrecked by mpb. Its essentially about learning to cover that shit up with your existing hair or live life knowing you look like shit from your early 20s and theres nothing you can do but live in jealousy of gorilla like men who have the hairline of a 16 year old.
THIS IS YOUR LITERAL ONLY WAY:
FINASTERIDE/DUTASTERIDE (DUTASTERIDE IS BETTER)
TAKE ALL 3 AT THE SAME TIME
CLEAN UP YOUR DIET
TAKE A GOOD MULTIVITAMIN
LOWER STRESS IN YOUR LIFE
ALSO AFTER YOU ARE ON ALL 3 OF THOSE THINGS, GET HAIR TRANSPLANT AND CONTINUE TO TAKE ALL 3
>tfw balding and still a virgin
I may as well just get my wizard powers now. It's all ogre for me.
Pic related, look at that triangle. How long have I got?
I took this for half a year and it increased my sex drive for around 1 month, then it went to shit. My erections were softer, and then most mornings i'd wake up soft.
i just thought fuck it, not having a broken dick for that. Came off it dick back to normal after 2 month, horny as i was, morning erections back.
But of course not everyone experiences it, apparently its 3% of people. But yeah..
Mıke Patțon (the indisputable king of /fit/) has amazing hair.
Look up his hair routine if you like. Though I doubt he ever released it.
propecia has lost their patent, so now finasteride is hella cheap.
just go to your doc and get a perscription, buy finasteride 5mg (for prostate cancer), usually called Proscar or just Finasteride. cut it up with a pill cutter in 4 pieces and take 1/4 (1.25mg) per day
1 year worth of pills costs like 40$
vs. Propecia that costs like 400$ for 3 months lel
Been on it for 3 years now, no sides, and stopped my hairloss completely. It literally saved my life, i was so depressed.
Don't know what kind of doctors you have that just give out prescriptions willy nilly.
0 chance if you're in the military, like I am. They won't give you shit until you're literally about to die, or you wait 6 months.
That's basically it. Some people won't see any difference. There's also a period of shedding before regrowth.
For beard gains, just shave frequently, and it'll grow quicker a la lawn. I don't know if there's any medical evidence for that, though.
Sup OP. I'm 33 y-o and got a receding hairline just like yours.
You can either buzz it or get some sort of mohawk like me. As many other anons have said, the most important thing is to have a positive, confident attitude. Peace!
hahaha you guys miss the point.
Whatever haircut you have, you gotta like it and feel confident walking around, exactly what I do. This is straight out of the shower so it looks average, but I can do neat shit with gels and shit.
I don't care anyway, I have no problems whatsoever getting laid
fucked the girl on the right yesterday. Got a date with leftie on saturday. Your move.
another girl I fucked... but yeah that's it. I have better things to do than to prove a dyel loser that I'm not a homosexual
And yet here you are posting pictures of these girls, trying to prove to a bunch of strangers on a Chinese cartoon forum about your sexual successes.
I smell a massive inferiority complex.
this is true
also i read on the internet that people say that minoxi does increase beard growth.
i've been using it to grow my mustache connectors for about 3 months and still haven't noticed any change
>Finasteride does nothing to testosterone. Is inhibit an enzine that converts testosterone to DHT, which causes hairloss.
You need DHT for your erections
Your gains shall be preserved
Your penis shall not
That's a side effect in some men for using finasteride, not all. You'll notice very early on if you're suffering side effects, and you can simply stop taking it if you do.
Don't give shitty advice.
i find this works pretty well.
i never understood why so many people say to embrace balding on fit.
i thought this board was suppose to be vain as fuck
