Welcome to /plg/ - Powerlifting General
For the purpose of becoming a better athlete on the platform
Get outta my way wilkswasting shits
Is it true if there's a qt cheering you son from behind you get stronger during your lifts?
even isley's non existant chest is bigger than yours
Maybe I shouldn't of been born, I am not good at life.
I'm with you lads. It's not so much that I wish to die, it's more that I wish I wasn't even born. ;_;
Spoto just posted a vid of 6 plate for 6 reps
And hes still rehabbing
Not internet "hurr I'm so cool I make explicit spellingserrors all the time just like nignogs smh tbh fam huehuehue xDDDDEeEEE"
Protip: Everything is a poison in high enough concentrations. You can even kill yourself with a water overdose!!
>still not knowing water poisoning is a thing even though I just told you
Shortboard you can die from OD'ing in water while breathing all the time. Are you just pretending to be retarded or are you really THAT thick?
You don't even make sense; if anything my post is AGAINST water.
You will now be ignored kid, let the adults talk. Clearly all you want is attention and rebel like a babyman its pathetic.
>Water intoxication, also known as water poisoning or dilutional hyponatremia, is a potentially fatal disturbance in brain functions that results when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body is pushed outside safe limits by overhydration.
>doing 4-day TM
>last UID hit 110kg on the bench for a (hard) triple
>decide to do three UVL for every UID
>5x5 sets get easier
>"oh man, today is gonna be easy as fuck tbh lads"
>managed 2 sets of 0 reps with 112kg
W-why? I've been having a sore throat all week, but I don't feel sick, so I'm not sure that's it. Did I fuck up the programming? Too much volume and too little recovery?
Pain in this area when squatting deep, I have had it for three months now. What coud it be?
>lifting 3+ years
>strength level of ~35%
>read comment on leddit about some guy complaining he's only at 50% after a year
pls kill me
i hate powerlifting, it's so shit
sheeeiiit man I got the same shit on the right side too and I've given up on fixing it b/c I compete in 5 weeks. I just painfully squat through it even though I know I'm being fucking retarded
I don't think most people are going to be nationally/internationally competitive in any sport in less than 5 years. For most, the primary difference between most people will be the time training (with a logarithmic return) with talent only separating the best.
I am the guy who initially asked and I wanted to know if it was a good program, not because I wanted to compete in powerlifting (although I like deadlifting, benching and squatting) but because the program seemed interesting to me in regard of learning to autoregulate volume using RPE.
I thought that was a useful skill that I could use in my progress. But if I'm wrong or the program is awfully optimistic in that way, I'm grateful to be corrected.
I'm saying don't get your knickers in a twist.
I think you sort of repeated what I said back to me.
Talented people are internationally competitive in under 5/6 years. For others it is all about time training.
Yeah, going from 0%->50% isn't the hard part, and can be done in a year.
It's the progress after that which gets harder and harder.
Life is unfair.
"Eat more" lol, but I went from 60kg -> 90kg. So eating enough wasn't the problem.
It's kinda hard to not get my knickers in a twist, because I do put in a lot of work and I have nothing to show for it.
Why would I even continue lifting if I have shit genetics for it?
Just checked, I wasn't at 50% around a year, I may have been, I only have about 6 months of my first lifts. I started with ~95lbs and ended up around ~275 about six months later.
bryce lewis's thing. it's got you doing either squat, DL, or paused DL along with either bench or OHP every workout, followed by some type of rows and more often than not close grip bench.
not me tbh
think this is a common problem, girl on the powerlifting team went to a PT and has to take 6 weeks off benching and squatting and maybe deadlifting.
>powerlifting 11 months
life is suffering tbh.
Yeah, I like doing deadlifts, but every joint gets easily injured for me, which makes everything shit.
Even if I didn't have any injuries, being stuck at 3plate dl for 2+ years is just fucking sad.
Where's the fun in powerlifting if you don't progress?
I dunno, maybe I need to switch to bodybuilding/general fitness, and just be happy with a 3plate dl for the rest of my life.
its not about exercises selection, if strength off of the chest or tightness is your weakness you could subtitue a benchslot for 2-4 ct pause bench or spoto press.
what sets him apart is the brilliant periodization.
If I had done everything right, I'd probably be much stronger now.
It's just that pretty much everyone makes mistakes, and for most people they don't really matter.
I know more than a few friends who made great progress, despite doing a lot of idiotic shit.
~70% at 11 months is really good.
what? are you talking about close grip? the program literally says to do close grip bench
>~70% at 11 months is really good.
yeah i'm actually pretty satisfied i was just being an asshole. i hope you figure out what you want to do and either progress in powerlifting or enjoy whatever you do next though, friend.
>clients all cancelled and work didn't need me to come in today
>instead of studying or doing pretty much anything productive I ended up watching 4 different movies
wew. they were all pretty good too.
he says the program is written for the typical lifter and they focused on the typical shortcomings. if you have huge triceps and a stonglockout but always fail on the chest obvisouly you shouldbt be focusing on close grip as main accesory
oh what makes you qualified to say that
I usually take about 45 min to pick a movie but I had a few in my backlog that I just really happened to be in the mood for.
It was ok. Days like this put me in my own head for a little too long but I snapped out of it after watching the first Jackass movie for like the 15th time.
how come no one told me to use wrist wraps when front squatting
actually could focus on the lift today instead of quitting early bc of how much my wrists hurt
yes i know i need to work on flexibility but this is great in the mean time
Yeah it always makes mine feel a lot better too (even though I haven't front squatted in over 6 months ;_;)
You don't wear them as tight as normal. Idk just feels comfy.
yeah exactly i wasn't really cranking them down they just provided a nice bit of support wrapped somewhat loosely
my wrists still bent but the wraps forced me to keep my elbows up a bit more than to let my wrists go into full extension with weight on them i think. i dunno for sure but it felt good.
sorry this wasn't super clear. why do i never edit what i type on this site
anyway what i meant is that with the wraps there's a bit of tension on my wrists keeping them from comfortably extending fully, so it reminds me to keep my elbows up which in turn improves my rack and keeps weight off my wrists
seems plausible anyway. but it was comfy.

It's like I don't even know you anymore
What the h-ck
Life's just a bit stressful at the moment, I guess I just lost my cool.
I keep getting popping in my shoulder when I OHP, is this bad? Doesn't hurt or anything.
>TFW had to deload on two lifts this week
I just wanna make it.
Candito has touched on this, Alan Thrall has touched on this, and Omar Isuf has touched on this. They all say the same thing. The only benefit of the low bar is that it allows you to squat the most weight. All the other pros of a squat, are better developed though a high bar.
I missed you so much fam
>I am not good at life.
by whose rules are you living by friend
that's what i figured, I was doing low bar for a while but it fucked my back, been high bar since. Reading SS right now and just finding a lot of flaws and bad writing in Rippetoes bible.
>last 3 days I've been active with work/school for 10 hrs in day
>tomorrow likely to be the same
>do homework and study after
>1am before I know it
>don't actually fall asleep until nearly 2
>wake up at 7:50
just fuck my recovery up
Drink lotsa water bby
gotta hydrate yourself
don't drink too much caffeine
eat a banana
Pocari is pretty good, it's a nipponese energy drink, dunno if the brand is in the states
I can't into very colorful drinks, damn
had college friends that were drinking blue colored gatorade every single day it was gross
>that food coloring
i guess cross post didn't work....
I love the taste of poop!:^)
M E A T S H I E L D?
>can't squat more than 2pl8
it was. /sci/ cross post. thread about someone asking how to acquire women like this (oddly enough, he was asking if he needed to be a powerlifter to do it)
its not spectacular, but my lack of attraction to face is exponentially outweighed by my attraction to thick athletic legs and asses
different strokes for different folks m8
>imagine burying your nose in that ass though
i r dumb
alsgfa;kslfhg;kasfdh i just want to plow that shit so bad
>quads and hamstrings clearly protruding, glutes are clearly suspending themselves as well as fat tissue surrounding them
mirin that ass
someday I too, will have an ass
are you gonna b natty 4 lyfe or r u blastin
coffee gives me the legit jitters
i have no idea. trying to reverse image search to find out who it is.
You're pretty close tbh. you have a nice shapely butt but i feel like you don't involve your glutes in your squat or dead much at all, which is the only limiting factor for you.
>my butt is getting alot better since i learned how to get it into my squat
I'm not tho.
I'm not even home rn.
Why would I want to join that anyway?
Yes. For me.
I prefer my women to look female but that's just me.
Like Norse said, different strokes for different folks.
Joe. I don't know wtf is going on, but I accepted and it wont let me request from you. I just want to see rare Joes....
>i just want to plow that shit so bad
Money on that she gives gread head. Jus sayin.
>coffee gives me the legit jitters
When I was in highschool I drank so much of it I would get the shakes. But there was no way I could have graduated/done all the extra-curriculars/smashed girls without it. Coffee is the Spice. I am the Kwizats-Haderach.
>'flex it reaally hard' = activate glutes
Pretty much how I got my glutes involved, just squeeze the shit out of them at the top.
sparrow, the only thing i can say is instead of squatting completely straight forward, you need to learn how to spread out, and learn how to track your legs out and forward so you can sit in between them. this is where the glutes will come in. squatting with a band around knees can help, but ONLY if you get the knee tracking correct first.
found her instagram, and i am EXTREMELY saddened... turns out her face isn't nearly as good as I had original thought... the original image isn't quite the real deal...
honestly, i should have cranked one out before I started looking for more....
at the bottom is kinda the important thing i think
cheked yo tripz
>If I was ever to go on again, I'd never tell plg. Never telling you fuckers. Y'all are not my fam and it pains me to say it
bby dun b hurtin
such harsh words
c'mon we can all still play tag tgt
>starting "slow bulk"
>just start eating as much as I want whenever I am hungry
>gained 22 lbs in a month
wat do lads. Do I just stay here and ride it out for a year or so? I'm literally at my goal weight for a year from now rn....
>It's okay I know you don't like me.
>Don't have to keep dodging me.
Whoa. She's a big girl. I'd still take her down so I could say I did. And she's probably nice. I bet she can cook like a demon too.
Aaron, we're here to support you.
>I can't handle the sight of a strong nord woman.
iktf so can't i
that's why I saved the image so the beauty of her curves can pain me over and over again
>knee tracking correct
Alright imma do exactly that Norsebrah!
I CAN GROW A BEARD IN MY NEDERLANDS :D

gonna meet a orthopedician today. thanks fam
suppose i have a herniated disc, how long till i recover from it?
>tells me she's up for me bulking more if it makes me happy
>submissive as fuck
>wants me to pull her hair and choke her as we fuck
Finally reached my goal that made me start lifting in the first place lads. time to get fat and strong like wilks would want.
pin again you sad faggot. enjoy your sides. enjoy knowing that you could never make it without a needle. enjoy never knowing your real potential by cheating before you're even close to reaching it.
I failed my bench and my squat ID on texas method PLG.
Im blaming it on the 2 hour rugby practices I had beforehand. Also It's been a long week. Everyone has bad days though, r-r-right?
>fail VD on squats because have to go right when I wake up and not my normal time
>end up just pulling new BW PR on DL instead
>next day fail bench VD
carbing up for tomorrow's ID. if I don't hit my sets I'm gonna have to fucking deload fuck.
>And I know it's not muscle pain it's like nerve or something it fucking hurts.
This is much harder to determine than you think lad. Time to get back to bench only.
I want to make her a nice dinner and pair it with the perfect wine and have her eat as much as I do and then we stand up to clear the dishes, WOOPS WE FUCKIN
Life is suffering friend
Seems pretty much everything depends on that vertebrae.
Let me know how that appointment goes.
Seems we're dealing with the same thing.
I dealt with what sounds like the same thing a while back. Got so bad at one point I couldn't walk at all for about a week. Turned out to be really bad SI joint problems. Learned how to adjust it myself and did a shit load of isometric leg stuff, and round-back back extensions.
Haven't had a problem with it in over a year but it was an ongoing thing for at least 6 months before I figured out what the problem was, and then another 3-ish to get back to 100%.
>How's your Thursday been
Time for the daily training vid:
Feeling alright despite the fatigue of pressing and squatting erryday. Also, been putting in miles at XC practice... and missing some sleep...
Almost died front squatting yesterday (for anyone that missed the shit show).
>Life is suffering friend
There it is :)
>2 hour rugby practices I had beforehand
You didn't stand a chance, unless you SERIOUSLY rehydrated and refueled.
Ha, glad I could bring you some chuckles. Felt pretty silly, but that's what I get for meme lifting I guess.
Hoping to go for 405-425 single next week. Might have to wear a helmet.
That sounds badass, lol. I showed a few of my XC kids the vid. They didn't laugh as much as I thought they would...
>Thanks for the daily "yep, buda is still stronger than me" reminder
Ha, been feeling good lately. One day, I might be able to deadlift well. Today was not that day...
I have a buddy bringing over a Texas DL bar. I'll be meme whipping soon to try and out-DL you. I need all the help I can get :)
>I miss front squats 9_9
You sandbagging son of a bitch, lol. You hit 405, then shot right up to like 465 no prob a while back. It was crazy.
>You already out deadlift me I thought?
I pulled 611 on an Okie bar a few months back. Might be good for 610 on a stiff bar right now... maybe. Aren't you at like 630?
>my squat has improved
I like these words. I was worried about your squat frustration there for a while.
You still on Sheiko?
>stay safe fam
Thanks, homie. I won't be safe, but I'll sure fib about it if my wifey asks.
>It's now like a rolling stop, instead of a full stop.
Breathing reps are a different monster. Just stopping enough to eliminate stretch reflex is what I was aiming for. I'll do a 30 second pause for you, Lotus. Might end up being 30 seconds of convulsing, though, lol.
yes. And I believe i thank some of the movements in sheiko for the gains in learning how to squat and bench correct.
here are some squats from recently.
I don't know if this is old or not and i've already told you this, but
your hips should start in one spot, and the centerline should stay right fucking there. your hips only move vertically. no forward / backwards movement. let your knees do that. Your front squats seem better because you allow your knees forward and you don't throw your hips back.
>Have you not seen my comp footage?
Grats again, btw on the comp. I thought you might have pulled a hair more in the gym. Mybad. You still stronk (inb4 squat hater dude).
Your upper back looks so much better on front squat. I don't know how you fold in your back squats... must be a cue or flexibility issue? DL wasn't too bad though.
Didn't realized it was looping and repeating, and just sat mesmerized by a beautiful 16 rep set, ha.
Those are looking breddy schmexy. Great bar path.
Thanks for clarification Buda, no hate, just curiosity. I always think of Kloklov/clarence0 pauses...
Were you scared when you fell? It reminded me of this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0-wE5BjHyY
>Were you scared when you fell?
Nope. A little confused. Was funny to see the vid and figure out what happened. Should have rubbed one out right as I was crumpling. Heard it's a good time :)
Dunno mate. It really fuckin helped my squats.
pls don't be mad at me. It was Norse that got me doing it and it's helped my squats so so much.
if its working for you, then don't fuck around with something else.
I'm inclined to believe that the simultaneous flexion is better for almost all individuals (some to a higher degree than others) but do a form check first.
>The more training vids the merrier. It's like we're all in a virtual gym here, slapping each others' buns and being all supportive :) It's nice.
>being all supportive
if thats how it really was.....
>if thats how it really was.....
Lad, that's how it is. You need to let the Seanstorm pass. It's over now. We're moving back into a golden era.
I mean, fuck, /fit/ even regards us as a bastion of knowledge for some fucking reason.
Aside from the fed bully, we're a p cool place.
It used to be more like that but it definitely isn't now, don't kid yourself. /plg/ was a much more supportive place in general before Isley quit rowing to ruin it full time and the IPF meme started. Norse and Buda are the only people here who probably even remember but once upon a time people could use drugs openly (fatlifts, mathbro) and post on /plg/ about lifting heavy weights, because that's what we talked about. In the Isley benchbandwagon bullydorio era people make a game of abusing chill guys like boardshorts for the crime of not sucking the IPF's dick. I know it's cliche, but it really used to be better here.
No I definitely remember when steroids and actually even lifting were okay. Then a bunch of highschoolers somehow decided Isley was worth listening to because they were only 'good' at deadlifting too.
I agree it's fuckin weird that people get so uptight about pinning when the people on /plg/ who do/may aren't going anywhere near an IPF platform, so who the fuck cares?
>guy greentexts horseshit
>acts like a cunt behind anonymity hoping people will back him
>if not he can just leave
>I call him a faggot
People should have their feelings hurt every now and then, especially when they're deliberately being obnoxious.
Lad, hurting his feelings is fine, just don't use the word "faggot" m'k? It really hurts a lot of people collaterally.
If someone is sensitive enough to be hurt by a word itself the best thing for them is to see that word over and over again in a low risk environment (such as an Islamic State hijacked oil refinery message forum) until they are eventually desensitized to it.
By protecting their fragile sensibilities you are hurting them more in the long term. Sometimes it takes tough love,
I'm glad I'm the first thing that comes in your mind when you think of people who will never be men.
You're the person who I think of that complains about being short tbh, or gets really offended at the word Manlet
>not going to gigs in shorts
Do you even mosh? It's like you aren't even an angsty teen who listens to heavy music and hates the world
boardshorts are pretty restrictive, I mean they don't really stretch, at least the ones I've worn, so you can't do retarded high kicks in them, or random flying knees, or else you risk tearing them tbh
Niggers and faggots can do PL too, you bigot. That h8 in ur <3 doesn't count toward ur total m8, let it go
I kind of agree with this, no one gave farmer, mathbro or cyclefag shit for using roids. Marcel and Buda posted all the time, I was anon and daily maxing was the meme. Good times tbh.
Help lads what say?
I said I could bench 200kg in my bio but I'm dyel.
how am i shitposting? and yeah i guess there are some jacked 93s. i think also as you get into the open classes its more likely that 5'7 people are over 84kgs too because they've had more time to grow
Well you remember things wrong (for one plg didn't start until after I quit rowing)
Also look at plg now. We have people placing at their countries nationals. We have people who've gone to open classic world's.
Before we were a bunch of fuck wits just lifting in the gym without anything to show for it.
Now the best of us are actually doing things in PL.
Fatlifts was always laughed at. And he didn't go on until after he'd posted some squat lifts.
i went to meet the ortho with my mom, who's a pathologist. the doc told my mom what it could be(none of which i could understand) and said that xray wasn't needed if the pain subsided
he suggested me exercises to strengthen my abdominal muscles, told me to stay off the weights for a week and told me to take some painkillers to reduce pain and inflammation
