/g/, is buying a brand new, most up-to-date ThinkPad a meme? Or should I buy an older one?
if i wasnt a poorfag and i could, i would
im just saving as much money as possible and want to know that if i buy a new thinkpad then i'll still be getting the good keyboard and the nice body is all and im not being overcharged for it
The current thinkpad line hardly even resemble thinkpads anymore and have none of the features that /g/ faps over when they talk about thinkpads.
You get no magnesium rollcage, no ultrabay drive port, no way to service the machine without completely taking the computer apart.
And they no longer have that willfully ugly, functional design that made them so nice to look at.
I just installed a Linux distribution for the first time (xubuntu) and the font on my icons is already fucked up. This would not happen on Windows or OSX.
Is linux really just a meme?
>just remove it bro you don't need it anyways
What do you think of Google Hangout, /g/ ?
Could the wise linuxfags of /g/ help me out I want to switch to linux and another anon posted a screenshot the other day of his desktop and i enjoy how it looks. I was hoping you could tell me what environtment/theme he was using, I know it was on fedora. see pic
Only the beginning.
>Redmond says its Online services collect “all text, sound, video, or image files, and software
Online Services are cloud based things, of course everything you put on it is going to Microsoft
Do you agree that we need more women in technology fields and programming?
How would you encourage them sensibly without the use of affirmative action and quotas?
are there any current equivalents to dsploit, seems it hasn't been updated in a while
Is there any way to connect my notebook to my TV?
My parents have 3 16gb iPhone 6 pluses that they were using on ntelos. Now that ntelos isn't around anymore is there anything I can use the phones for? Any way I can unlock them without paying someone to do it? They're literally just sitting on their shelf collecting dust
Using my laptop on battery power for the first time while I wait for the oven to preheat for pizza.
It's a weird feeling, like I'm actually taking my laptop's virginity
Ok /g/ what is a good cheap phone that I can use for playing music? I have a Note 5 but sometimes I don't want to be draining the battery on it, I would love to have a dedicated device.
I would also like if I can easily root it so that I can get the Adblock module and blocks Ads from playing in Spotify, and Soundcloud.
I had a nice LG phone that was perfect for that, even easily rooted it with TowelRoot but I shot it with a pellet gun trying to get it to explode.
THANK YOU BASED NVIDIA
Is Macbook worth owning for programming?
Linux mint updates have fucked me twice.
Is there even an operating system worth using?

>So I finally finished my first build but I can't get it to start. It turns on but then shuts off in 3 seconds. Infinitely. Until I turn it off. Also some of my fans won't run but I'm sure it's because they're not connected properly
>tfw in last year of cpe, great grades but you are bored and lacking the motivation to finish
what should I do
I've been sitting here for 4 hours now.
Fuck Charter and it's 0.5MB upload cap, I miss being able to stream shit that didn't look like a ps1 cutscene. download is barely passable at 4.5MB.
my only other option in this area is Frontier (replaced Verizon), but they kept me without internet/phone/tv for over a week on Day 1, failed twice to send a technician when they said they would, and charged me for the month ahead of time, including the week when i had no service.
what are my options to escape this oddly specific layer of hell /g/?
Is GPL communism?
So what web browser DO you use?
/g/, tell me why I shouldn't ditch my Xiaomi and buy the iPhone SE.
See pic related. This is coming from an iPhone 6s user btw. I'm switching to android in about a month, I'm done with apple.
What's a good value mouse/kb combo that is good for gaming and also in general? I type a lot but also play Overwatch occasionally.
Is the CM Storm the best option or just a meme?
honestly? it depends on preference. any brand that you recognize from reading its name is respectable enough to have quality products.
Logitech is reliable, but a little bit too "casual/entry-level"
Razer is aesthetically incredible, but is worth much less than their price tag suggests
CM is good, but they're a little bit behind-the-curve imo in terms of a lot of features.
You've got Steelseries, very trustworthy but less aesthetically pleasing
Corsair products scream "quality" but have been known to be less durable than they appear (+ trampstamp)
There are TONS of others to consider but this is getting too long anyway. I'll just throw out Zowie and HyperX for making great mice/headphones.
Honestly, it's your preference. Maybe check mechanicalkeyboards dot com to look for some good keyboards and then hit up Zowie's website for a literal professional-tier mouse/keyboard combo.
Not important, but I use a Ducky Shine YOTG + Zowie FK1+ for my setup.
don't buy a combo
buy a zowie mouse and research switches and buy the nicest mechanical you can afford with those switches
if you just want cheap with decent switches the cm storm quickfire is probably the cheapest thing that's acceptable, ducky is good midrange and leopold is good high end
>his operating system still restricts basic characters in file names
Hey /g/ what is your experience with wireless charging?
On a dare I put my balls on the wireless charger for my friend's phone and it completely fried them. I was no longer producing testosterone so I just decided I may as well become a girl. Having been on estrogen for three years now I can say my life has improved greatly and that I strongly recommend wireless charging.
M$ is cucking you now
using your PC as it sees fit
>tfw I just fell for the 144hz meme
I also have an nVidia card, so I guess that means I won't be able to use Freesync? I couldn't be bothered to pay extra for a monitor with G-sync because 1. I have never noticed screen tearing while gaming on at 60hz monitor and 2. Screen tearing is seemingly less noticable on a higher refresh rate.
144hz is so nice, not even close to being a meme
Screen tearing is a joke and it rarely happens.
If you buy a good monitor its an investment, since you'll be good for at least 10 years or get bored of it, or baited by some fancy new tech. I find it strange when people get $700 GPUs and then hook up $200 displays.
This isn't thinner than the current iPhone. What excuse are they going to use?
I am halfway done with my Business Major concentrated in Computer Information Systems from Cal Poly Pomona.
Anyone here have anny luck with this major or have I C U C K E D myself in the memest sense of the word?
is it possible to tap wires wirelessly?
with open networks you can just set your wireless card to monitor mode and just sniff traffic like that
with WPA2 et al it becomes harder (e.g. you actually have to know the PSK and catch the M1-M4 messages of your target's handshake, etc)
ANYONE HAVE A BROWSER RECCOMMENDATION THAT ISN'T RUN BY FUCKING RETARDS
