Remember when /g/ "made" an OS?
Tech cringe/humor/fail thread?
>The world's largest torrent site, KickassTorrents, has had its owner arrested.

Basically what I want to do is turn an old guitar hero controller into a realish guitar. I'm replacing the internal micro-controller with an arduino uno. I'm planning out the program and would like some input. I'm hoping to assign the buttons different values that it could then print to the serial, while a python script on my laptop watches the serial port plays a value specific sound from .wav files. Any better way to accomplish this /g/?
Who is the most tech illiterate person you know?

Is there any reason not to get 4k monitor?
only photo and video editing maybe.
watching anime, movies or youtube needs the content or bandwidth
gaming needs are gpu capable of delivering acceptable framerates at justifiable graphics settings
dpi scaling is shit on windows and once you go over FHD, everything seems unoptimised as shit, depending on your screensize though
the best and most budget friendly solution is to get a atleast 75hz ips/va panel which supports freesync
there are people in /g/ right now who actually fell for the smartwatch meme
can anyone share their journey learning C++ step by step?
I really don't want to waste time with resources that are bad so please share your experiences.
As much time as you are going to waste trying to curate the "right" resources you could instead just read through some of them and make something. What you're doing is procrastinating. Just read The C++ Programming Language or C++ Primer Plus - the more important part is actually writing though, and we can't do that for you.
I learned about computer architectures and their specifications and then figured in how one might control that piece of hardware and what constructs serve a logical piece of that puzzle.
A monad, for instance, would be a switch case without any calls to `break`. Or a function created with a byte that uses `and` and `or` expressions to evaluate a result.
How does /g/ feel about Chrome OS/Chromebooks?
Can we please have an adult discussion about having both Windows 10 and a Linux distro on one computer in a configuration that maximizes privacy that doesn't devolve into a Linux vs Windows false dichotomy argument?
>Can we please have an adult discussion
Where do you think you are?
so I upgraded to Windows 10 because I can't use 7 forever. I'm stuck at the opening screen and If I click anything it freezes up like a "this program has stopped responding" type error. how do I fix this (I can't find anything with Google)
Can anyone recommend a decent VR phone headset (not Gear; no Samsung phone).
I want to try it out for a bunch of porn I got off /t/ before buying any big boy stuff.
I accidentelly dropped my Motorola Nexus 6, twice. I am thinking about the LG Nexus 5x but I am wondering as the price is so low. Is it bad?
I had a Nexus 4 and I really liked it
Why is there no free, open source mobile OS?
Everyone complains about botnet on phones, but there doesn't seem to be a real alternative to android or IOS
ok so my 2 yr contract expires in about a month and it's time to get a new phone. what do you think /g/
I realize pic related is a joke, but would it be possible?
If so, how would one go about doing it?
So my girlfriend just gave me her iPhone 5c because she got a new phone. It is currently locked to Koodo (Canadian company) and I am looking for a way to unlock it to any carrier for free without jailbreaking it. It is running iOS 9.3.2

What are you working on, /g/?
So /g/, how do we make PC building more normie friendly?
I have some suggestions:
1. Combine the motherboard and the cpu into one robust non bendy static resistant screwless unit that you can just plug into place inside the case without having to worry about standoffs and shit.
2. Simplify power distribution by increasing the power ratings of the pcie slots to handle any gpu without extra cables and use powered sata connectors to limit the total number of cables coming out of the psu to one big cable that plugs into the motherboard.
3. Add extra reinforcements to...

What do you think of this player, /g/?
I think they make phones and phone systems, I tell you what.
>SMB vs NFS vs GFS2
Does /g/ prefer Raspberry Pi or Banana Pi?
>SORRY TO INTERRUPT, BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT
Why haven't you moved to Linux or macOS yet? They won't continually harass you through your own OS for months on end like this.
Does window really send everything you type to MS servers?
I'm about to pull my fucking face off /g/, please Christ tell me one of you can help me.
I got some piece of shit phone from AliExpress. It came with ten shitloads of preinstalled malware. I need to root the phone to remove them. I need to unlock the bootloader to root it. And therein lies the problem.
I've my phone in fastboot mode, or download mode as it's called now. And every variation of the command to unlock the bootloader is met with either a <waiting for device> or a [...], at which it will stay until I close the window.

This is the result of the first command I tried. The window doesn't freeze, but nothing happens.
And this is the result of the second command I try.
>fastboot flashing unlock
You can see the only result is three dots, and a frozen command window.
