hey /g/. Got an ultra vanilla user here. Was just given my first ever PC, and issues with resetting windows have resulted in me installing Ubuntu.
I have a DWA-130 d-link USB N300 WIFI adapter that seems to pick up the connection around the computer once it's plugged in, however trying to join a network results in a disconnected message.
I've done some googling and I found some sudo commands that were supposed to work but I'm pretty sure I fucked with the firmware folder too much so I've reboot Ubuntu again and im trying to start fresh. Not wanting...

Tried this to no avail.
And there were some others which I can't seem.to find in my history. But regardless I have reinstalled Ubuntu so I am.at factory settings because I figured starting from.scratch would be easiest
redpill me on windows 10
I need an advice /g/, I have a laptop and I need more space, which option is the best? a docking station with normal HDD or a a esternal WD mybook/elements etc.?
Do these docking station actually work? Can you recommend me a good one?
Do you need to hot-swap multiple drives (i.e. accessing data on an old HDD 2 times a month)?
>get a docking station
Do you want permanent 24/7 available external storage?
>get an external enclosure
it's not hard.
Docking stations are for temporary use. Using a bare, unprotected drive like that on the regular is idiocy.
If you care about being mobile, then obviously your best bet is a 2.5 inch drive in a small case.
If you don't care about being mobile, then maybe your best option is a WD My Book attached to the NAS port on your router.
Or maybe you need to transfer big files often, and USB 3 direct to the laptop is your best bet.
I dunno, do the thinking yourself.
What does /g/ think of the Mac Pro?
Looks like a trash can with the case on. Looks like a star wars prop with the case off.
It's overpriced either way, but if you want one and buy one, it's none of my business to tell you to not do that, l guess.
A bit disappointing. The brilliant part about the original tower pros were their modularity and the ability to upgrade pretty much anything for the long haul. These things are fairly upgradable, but there's limited room, and the layout makes it a bit awkward. You can't really change the gpu, and changing the cpu is a hassle. Also, most extensions need to be external since the thing is so small i.e. additional storage.

Nobody's said the only other option is bluetooth.
the 3.5mm form factor has long been obsolete, but headphone manufacturers won't make anything else because it's ubiquitous, and it's ubiquitous because nobody wants to upset the status quo. It's a vicious circle
If the iphone 7 becomes popular than manufacturers will start producing high end lightning headphones

When i open my C drive these temp files keep getting written out of nowhere on my C drive to the point that they completely fill it (30 gigabytes). What the hell is this? I looked up the active processes with ProcessExplorer and there are no suspicious process. I have Anti-MalwareByte and NOD32 installed and updated. Theres this one weird thing happens when i turn on the pc at first it says that my firewall and NOD32 are turned off but then the status changes into Turned On this didnt happen before. How fucked i am and what the fuck is this? Pic related.
Worm? I remember I had something like that ages ago, I think I got rid of it by doing a scan with malwarebyte in safe mode.
I got mine from some kat clone, hbu?
kickass torrents? god damn i think i visited that shit a few days ago. when i try to run malwarebytes in safemode it says checking for updates and needs to get connected to the internet. how the fuck do i make this shit work in safemode without connecting to internet? do you know the exact name of this worm?
Hello /g/uys do you have any tip for small notebook/ultrabook smaller than 15,6 in different price ranges? I was thinking about mac air or dell xps 13 but that's high tier price range..any recommendations for lower price?
I'm looking for a powerful very light ultrabook to buy:
- i7 processor
- 8 GBs ram (or more)
- 13 to 14 inch screen
- Budget up to $2,000
- Not manufactured by Apple
What do you suggest?
For those who are interested, Richard from DG made a video with an in-depth explanation of the benefits of using faster ram.
Basically, you'll only see differences in scenarios where CPU is the main bottleneck.
I can't find any X11 tutorials online that aren't over a decade old and incomplete. Are there any?
>inb4 use a bloated abstraction library
>inb4 posted this last night
More people are awake now and maybe I'll get some proper xlib tutorials
tutorials to do what?
do what every non-man child does and follow the tutorials to learn the basic principles, then look at the documentation for more up to date techniques where applicable
How did people program before the internet? I google probably 100 times a day at least.
The had massive documentation. It was almost like the internet - but on a CD drive. Imagine 5gb worth of documentation and samples. Definitely not enough, but that's what used to happen back then.
The only way to get better algorithms than madvr is with vapoursynth.
Why no windows builds with vapoursynth support?
What are your favourite vapoursynth scripts you use with mpv in realtime?
Yes windows, the only one os where gpu drivers work correctly.
On linux it's just shitty hack with poor results and quality.
The experimental, but awesome mpv config with vapoursynth.
Kill everything you can do with madvr, that's truly insane.
