When was the last time a consumer product genuinely impressed you?
Why don't you have a portable triple monitor workstation /g/?
When the fuck are they announcing the processors?
Okay /g/uys, is there any serious development being made towards androids, even ones that are only good for doing housework and sex for the sad, lonely people who buy them?
I'm honestly surprised there's not a big open source AI movement happening, and it's disappointing that for what feels like the past decade or two, research in the field has stagnated severely.
Is there any hope for the future of electronic waifus?
>is there any serious development being made towards androids
There are plenty. Example: http://www.dannychoo.com/en/post/27274/Smart+Doll.html
>even ones that are only good for doing housework and sex for the sad, lonely people who buy them?
No, we don't have good enough technology to make robots that will look good, have AGI and move freely.

I got recently new hdds (7200rpm) and they get very hot. I have a chassis like this where the hdds are placed sideways. On the side is a fan case for 3 fans.
In which direction should they point?
Into the case and blow cold air in?
Or point outside the cas and blow hot air coming from the hdds out?
I know that in normal cases you would blow the air in the front in and get the hot air out of the case with exhaust fans|the psu.
Pic related looks like my pc case.
And another picture with the chassis closed. As you can see there are holes in the side panel from where the cold air could be sucked in if the fans blow air out on the other side.
It's really up to you and how you want your setup to work. Consider the other fans in the case and which way they are all facing too.
A lot of people try to have more fans going in than out, therefore creating a net positive pressure inside the case, hopefully not sucking in dust in any gaps.
Either way just think about the fans you have and where you want the air to flow and go from there. Up to you
My boss is buying 8 Mac Pros to replace our old 2012 iMacs
Hype as fuck. Anyone have any hands on experience?
I signed up to Tutanota recently. IMO best of the lot.
Open-source all the way.
Based in Germany.
Good looking Android and iOS apps.
Other than that, these were options;
Tutanota is pretty great, and you can easily even have it on your own personal webserver. everything is encrypted so tutanota can't see your emails it is easy to send encrypted emails. and it is open source and free. Also Germany is the only western country apart from iceland where being pro-privacy and pro-encryption is not political suicide. politicians are expected to protect privacy rights.
Buying anything other than an iPhone is a reactionary act: you are choosing not to buy an iPhone for some reason (spoken or unspoken): either because you hate Apple, or are trying to save money, or harbor philosophical beliefs of what your technology should allow you to do, etc. No one chooses to buy an Android or what have you (obviously). There's always some psychological turmoil lurking just beneath the surface of that decision.
But not just at the time of purchase. No! Then you constantly need to bother your friends and family about how XYZmessenger is way better...

If you view it as just a phone you would by the shittest model. If you buy it as a smart phone you buy it as a status symbol, and no matter how 'flashy' your android phone might be, people will still think you're poor.
There are much cheaper android phones, good for burners, etc. Not sure why somebody would buy a non-iphone for the price of an iPhone though, as iPhones have been unanimously rated as the best smartphones on the market, every year since release.
What's /g/'s favorite VPN and why?
Why are smartphones so boring? What reason is there to upgrade from a phone two years ago? They're literally all the same now

What are the pros and cons of having Vsync?
People always say that without vsync you get higher FPS, but whats the use of that if your screen cant display half of them anyway?
tearing, tearing everywhere. in some games you can't tell and don't care unless you're autistic as fuck.
buttery smooth 60 fps until you hit 59 fps and then your shit drops down to 30 fps. buttery smooth 30 fps until you hit 29 fps and then it does 15 fps.
this is why they made adaptive vsync aka free sync and that shitty nvidia gsync.
basically within a given range, the monitor can sync with the current frame rate. if your gpu puts out 42 fps then the monitor can sync to 42 hz. only works within the acceptable range.
new bullshit will push frame doubling or some faggot shit to make lower fps look more smooth.
What actually makes JS/node/any framework on JS so bad?
It gets alot of hate here, and I don't like it myself for the horrible syntax and the single-threading of node.
But there has to be more, right?
JS is probably one of the most durable languages created. Trolls and scriptkiddies gave it the stereotype that its bad. Flash was way ahead of its time and can still be the prime source for media that's encoded.
>AMD will be replacing GCN with Polaris
Uh, we all know what happens to the old stuff when amd announces a new architecture right
>HD 4000 lasted 3 years
>HD 6000 lasted 5 years
>GCN is going on 5 years old
AMD HAS NO DRIVERS
Why didn't they improve plastic materials already?
The problem is known since decades.
I don't remember these color options when I bought it
How do you guys hide your porn on your compiter?
I'm looking for an easy way to keep it hidden. I want to be able to quickly access it, but not have anyone be able to view it/find it. A keepsafe-like software for a computer would be great, anyone know of a nice encryption program that quickly locks and unlocks files/folders?
Tl;dr best encryption program for computer?
