What is so wrong about software that actually just werks?
Let's see them idle temps /g/entlemen.
Just bought a GTX 970 for $300.
Did I fuck up, because I'm reading the next version of Nvidia GPU (Pascal) is half the nm size 28 vs 14.
I don't want to put you under any pressure this is just to ask I don't expect you to know the future-- would waiting the year give me huge boosts in performance at a similar price point?
You fucked up. 970 loses consistently against AMD's 390 and they're cheaper too. inb4 "muh power efficiency" and "muh drivers".
Get fucked. Serves you right for buying a product without looking at alternatives.
I did look, my PSU is a 750 watt gold modular Seasonic. I used a free power calculator. Meaning I can SLI the 970 in the future and I couldn't Crossfire the 390 it is my deciding factor.
Upgrading from SLI 460s as one of the fans broke.
What are /g/'s views on piracy? When do you think it's acceptable and when do you think it's wrong? Don't give a fuck? Use free software instead?
I think piracy is fine if the software isn't available to purchase anywhere/in your country.
Post any pictures related to piracy if you have them.

Guys, muh familia, can anyone send me an invite to IPTorrents? much appreciated.

What makes mpv better than MPC-HC with madVR?
The answer better not be because mpv is open source.
Because I feel like I'm actually in control of my viewing when editing the config files.
MPC-HC/madVr can offer similar quality experience but they feel limited in their configuration due to the nature of GUI interface.
Hey /g/, simple question of preference but do you prefer a single large monitor or multiple displays & why?
OP here, I am on the look out for a new monitor, currently I have one 27inch primary display 1920x1080 and a secondary 24inch 1080 monitor. I mainly use two for animation, reference and the graph editor on my secondary. Then I game on just the primary.
I am looking into either an ultra wide or a single curved display. Resolution & refresh rate are not my primary concern as I am looking for productivity over gaming, but something with decent gaming potential would also be nice.
I am just curious what people prefer, in both productivity and gaming.
Is Nexus 6 really and i mean REALLY worth picking up over Nexus 5 ? I have a 4 right now but i broke my screen like a retard i am and after searching for some news i think i will stuck with the nexus brand. So what i know is that 6 its a bit better performance wise and it has 4k videos i think but its also fucking enormous. Basically is it worth giving more shekels for 6 or is 5 still fine ?
What would /g/ buy with $800,000,000?
Been transfering files to my new 5tb drives.
Who has the most TB of movies and TV here?
This is just my unwatched folder. Movies is about 14 TB total.
If you are serious about switching to Linux, use it exclusively for 2 weeks, avoid booting to windows for that period of time, or you are likely to start retreating back to windows instead of getting used to linux as your new home and working on making it feel comfortable
You can safely experience installation process and the basic usage through a virtual machine

Now what? Do I just brag on /g/ about it?
I would like to learn how to make desktop/panel widgets for XFCE if that is possible. What language are they written in?
So, I heard that Asus Zenphone 2 is a decent smartphone for people who take money/value into consideration, so I went to check that phone but as it turns out, it has shitload of various models.
Example:ASUS ZENFONE 2 LASER (ZE500KL) etc..
What model was praised as good one here?
Also, Zenfone2(that "good" model) vs Nexus (#?) or maybe something else????
I can speak for the zenfone 2 as I'm using one right now. I have the 4gb model, ZE551ML. And I honestly love it. I'm not huge about gaming on phones, that's what a gaming pc is for, but this phone is awesome for multitasking and reading. The screen is enormous and in some cases cumbersome, but I don't really mind it. I'd rather have a large HD screen than a small HD screen because I watch a lot of YouTube videos on it. Also expandable storage up to 128gb, and two sim card slots is pretty cool. The main gripes I have with the phone would be the power...

Is BitFenix Prodigy a meme case or legitimately good?
>Big as fuck but still claims to be ITX
>Cable management is a nightmare
>no real reason for the bottom leg things
>USBs favor right handed users
>no front USBs
>can hold a max of 7 hard drives, but what ITX board his 7 Sata ports
>That $80-90 price tag
