This is a codemonkey free zone. You may only post in this thread if you took at least 2 semesters each of algebra, analysis, and topology during your undergrad.
Can I just call myself "programmer"? I really don't give a shit about calling myself a software engineer. Thanks.
Also I would argue that analysis (if you mean the American calculus) Is hardly a theoretical CS topics and it's easy to drift into applied purposes.
Also, what about set theory and formal languages and shit?
but take this with a grain of salt since it comes from a former CS student who went on to become a filthy programmer ;^)

Ok /g/ which is the better overall OS Windows 7 or 8.1?
old thread: >>52198068
What are you working on, /g/?
How do you spoof your browser's fingerprint to something common?
Not even sure what a common fingerprint would be, maybe some phone shit.
Why the fuck is software so fucking bloated these days? God damn, I can't find any software of any kind that isn't bloated beyond belief. When did wasting system resources on useless horseshit become the industry standard?
How do other companies even COMPETE
by offering better specs for less money
Just got the pi 2 and a usb to sata cord for a hard drive. What distro do I install now? Not raspbian. Something that I just watch my animu on with out lag.
>Not getting the pi plus 2 for the same price with built in sata and 8gb flash storage
It's like you enjoy getting keked.
>tfw you just want to use a laptop for everything
>but you can't because vidya games
When will the suffering end?
If a midtier pascal meme GPU can play cities skylines at solid FPS and can at least decently run my 3D adventure games I'm sold.
I don't give a fuck about crysis 420 at 100FPS but I want muh city builds and muh adventure games ._.
New computer wont power on.
It has the following parts as shown in the picture as well as 1 stick of 8gig gskill ram and its in a corsair obsidian 750D case.
The motherboard lights up so its recieving power, and the usb on both the back and front are able to charge my phone, but nothing inside powers on as well as the case LEDs. Anyone have a clue?

If you are serious about switching to Linux, use it exclusively for 2 weeks, avoid booting to windows for that period of time, or you are likely to start retreating back to windows instead of getting used to linux as your new home and working on making it feel comfortable
You can safely experience installation process and the basic usage through a virtual machine

Any recommendations for web hosting? It's a pain in the ass trying to find anything decent. My website is only a very small portfolio / hobby project (well under 1 GB) and my current host is about to gouge the shit out of me with renewal. Looking for something suitable and affordable.
I use leaseweb's small vps which is $5/mo I think, they've been reliable.
I haven't tried their webhosting with a control panel and all that shit, I just set up everything myself on the vps.
Explain why are you not using Windows phones
I've been using Android phones for the last 5 years or so. I'm familiar with the operating system and the phones do pretty much everything I need them to do, why should I switch if I'm happy with what I have? Can I even get an Interactive Brokers or CNB Bank app on Windows phones?
Why aren't we funding this as a source of renewable energy?
Can we have a thread about the relative merits of OSX versus Linux without it spiraling into a shitstorm of flames and trolling? /v/indows queers need not apply
