This is my first time building. Almost bought a Dell XPS.
As a newbie, I keep questioning myself.
Is the mobo good enough?
Is the AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor worth it? (I want to go with AMD because they seem more cost-effective than Intel.) I'm wondering if I should step down to the 8320 to save money.
Advice on a case would also nice.

Sorry for being a pleb.
Would 16 Gb of ram impact performance negatively if it doesn't use more than 8?
I figured since I won't have to pay for a HDD, I could splurge and get an SSD. A lot of people seem to love theirs and I didn't want to worry about upgrading for quite some time.
Thanks so much for your reply, all feedback is much appreciated!
Why do you own an Nvidia video card?
I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, then wiped everything and reinstalled Windows 10. Can't activate Windows because I don't have my product key. What do?
Install gentoo or go to kat dot cr and search for 'kmspico" download it and run it assuming that youre a complete potato when it comes to tech ( judging by your choice of OS) watch some guidea on how to use kmspico
Friend has the same problem.
>Gave him old hard drive for gaming PC build
>I decided to upgrade to windows 10 and wipe all my files for him
>When you do that, Windows 10 still keeps a windows.old folder with all the stuff you told it to delete, so I deleted that folder with disk cleanup (since it took up 400 Gb).
>Couple days later, it starts bitching about a product key.
You could probably call Microsoft and sort it out.
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
as of december, 2015, and according to steam, 48.58 % of all its users still own a dual core processor.
and even more surprisingly, there's been a 0.65 % gain last month.
why is this happening?
Post minimal looking technology.
Every time I search for it I don't get minimal looking things, I get people saying "I want a computer that can only browse the internet and check documents".
I'm especially interested in minimal looking laptops, tablets and phones, which are boxy and greyscale.
I like the macbook, especially the black one, but I would prefer it with less rounded corners

I really want PIZZA and CIGARETTES but it's SUNDAY NIGHT and i CAN'T HAVE THEM
Show off dem sexy optiplexes
is this a fad, or does it actually have merit?
it was a thing decades ago, not only hipsters or teenagers use it because they want "vintage"
when you're older and start using these again, it's pleasant to remember and hear all the quirks and problems each record had
It is the inferior technology. It sounds worse, costs more, is less reliable, takes more equipment, is not portable, takes up more space, etc. There is NO technical advantage.
But not everyone wants the technically superior option. Some people like how they look and like the experience of playing a physical recording. Taking a record out of the sleeve and putting it on a player is different from pushing a play button.
I do not understand why people like that, but it is fine. People can like things I don't like. Liking something in spite of its technical limitations is fine by me.
If someone says they sound better, they're an audiophile idiot.
Analog is a perfectly round sound curve where as digital is just a series of 1's and 0's that try to replicated a curve with a lot of right angles.
Digital takes the emotion out of music therefor analog and vinyl is and always will be superior.
What would be your ideal computer tech channel
Content wise, etc.
intro sequence lasts less than 5 seconds
total video length is less than 5 minute
gets straight to the point
provides links for additional information
no gimmicks, no catering to 12 year old audience
does it for free, doesn't ask me to subscribe or donate or follow or tweet or whatever
/g/, what are some good ideas for headless linux boxes. Currently using mine as a samba media server but what are some other cool projects I can do, that might actually teach me something?
One of my girlfriend's sons birthday is upcoming, and I'm saving up to buy him a mouse, as he seems to like computer games. What is the best I can get for around $60?
What is your backup method /g/?
Also what do you think is the best way to backup files.
Daily Firefox shaming thread
Only thing that needs shaming is that fucking picture quality, dumbass.
ITT people so salty that they need daily reminder why they are salty
ITT: tech memes you fell for
Pic related. All it does it make your computer boot faster and your programs start faster.
The faster a car goes the hotter it gets why would you want to keep your computer from going fast
