GTX 480 for $40 or HD 7950 for $90-100
functional programming thread? functional programming thread?
itt: funtional programming
can anyone explain what monads are trying to fix?
what I mean is, what problem does functional programming have that makes them have to make something like monads
also, is F# any good
If a value is linear, it means you must use it once, and only once. So it's stricter than uniqueness in languages like C++ or Rust.
Formally, it admits side effects in pure functions, because the definition of purity is that every time you call a function with the same arguments, you get the same result (which includes the state of "the world"). If you can only call a function once with a given set of arguments, due to linearity, you can do side effects without breaking purity.

Who to be a hacker guys? Like a hackerman
>not eating shit from your hands
What is your excuse /g/?
What web stack should I into, /g/?
I did some LAMP back in the day, but I don't want to touch PHP (mostly because I don't want to end up maintaining ancient PHP, modern PHP might be nice, I dunno).
My goal is to do remote work while travelling. Since web dev companies and clients seem more open to working arrangements like this, that's the direction I want to go.
tfw you fell for the external HDD meme
Come and compare your dick sizes.
HP Elitebook 8470p
/g/ what the fuck do you guys use to find your tech-related news? explain.
wii u on 5.2, immediately run iosu kernel exploit and disable autoupdates software-wise and in your router. then download free games n shit for the only console where for there is a viable reason to purchase it
or a z3c idek
got bored all these new cellphones iPhone/various variants of Android phones and want to ditch them
suggest a decent old phone to carry around
Yeah, IIRC it's bigger than it looks tho, so you should check out it's physical dimensions before buying. If you're going to buy a cheap dumbphone you're better off getting new one, since they all are as much botnet, not to mention that electronics don't age like wines generally.
WTF was Google thinking? I love Android, but this thing is a fucking turd.
* Lags because they rushed it out, despite the super powerful SoC
* Only 3GB of RAM on a tablet
* $499 for 32GB, $599 for 64 GB <--- fucking jews
* No multi-window, where Samsung has been doing this on its Android devices since 2012 and it does it well
*$150 for the jew keyboard <---- WTF
Seriously Google, you goofed. This thing is an immediate flop.
Not even meant for gaming, they're obviously trying to compete with Surface Pros and make this a "productivity tablet"
There aren't even any Android tablet optimized games, are there?
However at least they don't jew you as much on storage as Apple does, pic related
No surprises here. Fucking called it from the moment it was announced.
yeah whoever is in charge over at mozilla is an idiort, you don't grow a company by pulling out of areas of development that you've already explored and been moderately successful at
What where they thtinking by doing a mobile operating system? Ubuntu should give up their attempt too.
Should I upgrade to Windows 10, /g/?
What is the best sub £100 chair for sitting at a desk?
I'm using a cheap plastic piece of shit and it sucks.
Pic very related.
I found this chair, which retails for $1500, at a local Savers (thrift shop) for 35 bucks. The height adjustment canister leaked, but since I don't change in height daily, I simply locked it in place with a bit of PVC pipe and a hose clamp.
I realize this isn't especially helpful for you, but the takeaway is that you can find great deals at thrift shops.
A picture of the repair job.
Don't let something as stupid as a broken height adjustment stop you from getting a great chair, kids.
I'm looking to upgrade my smartwatch. I've currently got the pebble steel, but I'm curious as the what /g/ thinks? Does pebble have a decent reputation around here or are apple and samsung the way to go?
I have a Pebble Time, and, while I love the functionality and battery time ( 5-7 days), The plastic bezel gets scratched so easily. Spring for the Time Steel.
>tfw I can't follow my own advice because my girlfriend bought me the Time in August and she'd be anally assaulted if I bought something different so quickly
