I want to pull the trigger on ThinkPad 13
Windows 7 Pro 64b (would prefer 8.1, fuck 10 though)
HD 520 >games on a laptop
256 SSD (it's SATA3 which is fine)
13.3" 1080p anti glare IPS
My problem is I'm an yuropoor and this is from britbong lenovo shop, which only ships inside UK. Lenovo shop for my country doesn't list it...
Wat do, /g/?
Not in GB :^)
Do you guys have any experience with getting them to ship internationally? Thing is I don't know where I'll be during coming weeks, hell I might get out of country in a couple days (that's the reason I'm buying a laptop, I'll be doing a tonne of traveling). All I know is I'll be within the EU.
It's great looking isn't it. And the hardware is really nice, at least on paper. All this for £669,19.
How do I make firefox fullscreen without losing the ability to resize my window?
The goal is to be able to have multiple firefox windows withouth the tabs bar and the search bar.
are 4TB, 5TB, 6TB external HDD reliable?
I am a Tech Spport Rep for Logitech in the UK.
Ask me anything
>At work at the moment
>Why are your products shite?
>Why are your products expensive?
It's Logitech after all!?
You seem to have posted an "Ask me Anything" thread here on the Technology board of 4chan.
This type of post is better suited to the website reddit.com, perhaps /r/technology.
Thanks for stopping by.
I know nothing about Android Studio and built clover with Floens' instructions. Why do you guys ask for a release when you can just compile it with the latest changes in less than a minute?
>less than a minute
>pray to have the correct version of all the java(TM) components
>eithern learn to compile an android app by hand or download android studio maymay
so this is the last one??
Guys, i would greatly appreciate your help in explaining me how to do this (which app to use, tutorials or such) because i find this amazing
Moreover if some of you have this artwork would you mind sharing it?
It probably uses KLWP or something similar together with nova launcher or something similar.
KLWP is an app that lets you create an interactive wallpaper which you can heavily customise.
Its free so download it and play around a bit.
You should check out the home screen general on /wg/.
Which sites should I have a secure unique password for and on which ones can I use the same password?
The ones you care about.
The ones you don't care about.
Assume that same password is public, because that is exactly what will happen if one of those websites gets hacked and was too retarded to hash their passwords. Assume anyone can log into one of your accounts with that password at any time. Do you care? If yes, choose a unique password instead.
I just found a major security flaw in a big, multinational pizza chains website that allows me to cancel or change any ongoing order. How should I proceed /g/?
>never cracked my ipad screen before
>connect my iPad to the charger before going to sleep
>hear a loud crack in the middle of the night
>no idea what it was
>go to sleep
>wake up and pick up my iPad to use it
>the screen is fucking cracked
WHY. WHAT THE FUCK
This was a gift from my grandparents...

Aren't you supposed to be able to activate windows 10 with windows 7/8 product keys?
I got windows 10 awhile ago when it was free, and now it's telling me to activate windows but it says I can't use my win 7 product key.
No, lol... the key only works to install the older version, if you upgraded it gives you a different key that's tied to your hardware, if you reinstalled then you shouldn't need a key
I did it. I replaced all of my HDDs into SSDs.
OS is on a 250GB Samsung pro. The rest is on two 1TB Samsung 850 EVOs
this week on windows/windows10 general
what do you guys think about the new cool features?
is it common to find women playing PC games in cafes by themselves?
What does /g/ think of this set up?
Planing my next build, needing ideas essentially.
So /g/ what do you use to carry your tech, what do you pack in it, and why?
>Thinkpad P50 with mouse and charging cable.
>frequently have field drills and school assignments and needed a case to bring my thinkpad out with me. Also travel out of country every year or two.
A fucking bag you autistic cunt.
Protip: Unless you're going skydiving with your laptop or in a 3rd world shithole, getting from point A to point B ANYWHERE doesn't require a fucking heavy ass hardened case you fucking tool.
I can imagine it now. Your smug expression as you struggle to haul your dumbass heavy laptop suitcase through a resteraunt door, attemping to find a big enough table to unpack your entire setup while finding a suitable spot to set your unwieldy awkward box.
>heh look at all these unsecure normies with their bookbags
>its like they want their shit to break
>don't they know bookbags can hardly withstand 50kg of direct pressure and only offer marginal water resistance? What if they need to deploy in stormy weather? Stupid normies...
I bet you pack all that shit back in the box and take it with you to the toilet too.
Which CPU would be better for gaming?
Intel i5 2500k or Xeon E3-1270?
I've got both of these spare and am going to pair it with a GTX1070. So which one would be best?
Is there any way to limit the input current when charging my phone?
My Nexus 5 just pulls as much current as possible from chargers, up to 2.2A, but I want to limit this to ~700 or 800mA sometimes.
Yes. Get a different charger. Look for one with 5V and 1A. You can see the maximum current by looking at the bottom of a charger, so check your home if you have an older one since they're usually 5V/1A. If not just buy one, they're not expensive.
so, /g/s, what's the verdict?
21:9 curved 34" or two nice, energy efficient 24"?
the two 24" are not substantially cheaper, but will use substantially less energy. generally, i would also prefer EIZO over Dell, but that's more of a sidenote. in terms of screen real estate, they're 7.5% apart in favor of the curved.
So here's the situation. That's me standing on the beam and I weigh 100kg. A crane hook is attached to the end of the beam imparting an upward force on the beam of 936.92865 Newtons (N) (a Newton is a unit of force attained by multiplying a mass such as 1 kilogram by an acceleration such as the gravitational constant 9.81 meters per second per second here on Earth, i.e. 1kg X 9.81 m/s^2 = 9.81N). What is the reaction force at the wall?
Friendly reminder, Hak5 have a real girl as host.
If you were to
reappear in the medieval age, what piece of technology would you create?
Pic related for my choice, a primitive electricity generator.
>had a dream where I watched an ad for Coca Cola with Stallman drinking the soda
>wake up and laugh it off, he would never advertise such a company!
>actually google "Stallman drinking Coke"
WTF? I pretty much lost all my respect for Stallman now. Monopolies and oligopolies are the cancer killing the economy. It is exactly the same as if he was using a Microsoft product! What a fat idiot!
Will /g/ be buying?
Seems like quite a nice little notebook for on-the-go
If i were to buy this budget tier laptop - Lenonvo Ideapad 100s and purchase a 1080p panel replacement for an ideapad 300s or similar and replace the shitty screen on the 100s?
If you mess something up, or your tinkering is noticeable, you'll lose warranty. Budget laptops are much more likely to break and be hard to fix, so if anything goes wrong you'll just lose more money on it. I recommend just saving up for a laptop with the features you want out of the box (other than extra RAM or a new HDD).

What's in the box ?
what workloads can saturate a PCIe x16 slot?
> PCIe v.2 8 GB/s (×16)
> PCIe v.3 15.75 GB/s (×16)
> PCIe v.4 31.51 GB/s (×16)
even modern GPUs playing AAA games don't use the full bandwidth of PCIe v.2, so what's the point of rolling out v.4 on desktops and laptops???
>even modern GPUs playing AAA games don't use the full bandwidth of PCIe v.2
Actually, surprisingly, some now do.
Look at the Fury/FuryX - the 4GB of VRAM is limiting them enough in some modern games that they're constantly swapping out pages over that pci-e link - the faster it is, the better for those cards.
Of course the real solution isn't increase link width, it's just to increase vram so the swapping doesn't need to occur.

General pretty much uh, lets just get the ball rolling see whats going on
anyone doing any cool shit?
