How bloated is your phone, /g/ ?
>having google play services
that shit is literally pinging towers nonstop. determining your precise location. and sending it to google the moment you turn on data.
disgusting how a company thinks this shit is okay.
1) Which version of android, is most battery efficient?
2) How can I upgrade to a newer version of android, without losing root access?
I have an Xperia Z1
Is AMD still a maymay, /g/?
Hasn't been a meme in a while.
They don't release WHQL drivers consistently, but when they do, they're actually pretty good and stable, always come with nice boosts.
Their beta drivers are usually pretty great too, if you can deal with some instability. Better than Nvidia slapping a WHQL label on everything that crashes every 30 minutes, to be honest family.
Absolutely hyped for the xb1 predator. I dont mean to suck Acers dick, but honestly, for the people who aren't already aware of it, this monitor is bringing the best of everything all together. Gsync, 165hz, ulmb, ips, 1440p, 4ms response. It's honestly the most perfect a monitor can get within reason right now. Too bad it won't be out tI'll prob early december
Is uncrackable one time pad encryption a meme in the modern world?
Approximately how long would it take to crack a simple message like "hello world!" encoded with OTP encryption?
Literally impossible. Because while 2^96 bit message is not beyond brute force, a OTP encrypted "hello world!" is identical to the same crypt text that a different key would decrypt to "i eat dicks!". As an attacker you have no way of knowing whether your attack is successful.
One of the theories about numbers stations is they're distributing OTPs.
well guys, my chair finally bit the dust after 7 years. What do you guys suggest I should get for long hours of shitposting? What do you guys currently use?
I've been using adblock plus since... well so long i can't remember when i started using it.
it just werks, and it werks well.
i use the following filters:
Adblock Warning Removal List
Fanboy's Enhanced Tracking List
Fanboy's Annoyance List
i keep hearing people talk about ublock(origin) and say its better than adblock plus. i haven't been liking how close adblock plus has been getting with advertisers and lately been thinking about switching to ublock(origin).
i have a few questions.
what are the differences between ublock and ublock origin? i tried googling, i tried even reading off of ublock origin site, and they don't really explain much nor go into detail why one is better than the other. all i get is someone "retired" then came back and made their own version and didn't want to play nice with the other people.
what makes ublock better than ublock origin and vice versa?
what makes ublock(origin) better than adblock plus other than it doesn't have the option to enable and disable acceptable ads because it doesn't offer acceptable ads? such as does it do a better job at filtering?
i herd ublock(origin) doesn't actually block and prevent the ads from ever even loading. instead it lets them load and just "hides" them. is this true or a meme?
do all adblock plus filters work with ublock(origin)?
How do you fix black/discolored pixels?
Any tips on how to get my idle memory below 1 GB? I'm plateuing at exactly 1 GB no matter how much debloating I do!
Wait what? I finally got around to seeing my drivers needing update. We have to log in to get updates? Man, I feel like I'm missing something I should have known.
So, this girl I sleep with and have a weird relationship with wants to add me to her cellphone plan. No cost to me. She also works at AT&T technical support. Should I take her up on it? I'm kinda worried about my privacy.
If she is working in a call center type of job then dont worry.
Anything else I would say no, depending on how srs you are with this gurl and how good the plan is.
AMD HAS NO DRIVERS
I wonder if there was a mixup or something. Seems strange that they'd claim such huge performance increases when there are none. In fact I'm gonna say that's almost definitely the case. I'll be looking forward to seeing the actual benches. It's an exciting time for linux gaymen.
Alright guys, it's getting close to black friday, most stores are already starting to do all types of discounts and shit but I'm kinda wondering if I should get a 144HZ monitor.
>Are 144Hz monitors actually worth the extra money upgrading from a 60Hz?
I've got a BenQ GL2460HM 24" LED monitor now. Size is perfect, good quality, 60hz so I don't have any problems with it at all. But is it worth spending another £200 to buy a new 144Hz monitor? Will it really be that noticeable for me to say this was definately...

It depends on what you play.
Racing games, rhythm games, and fast multiplayer FPS? Impossible to go back to 60Hz.
RTS, RPGs, slower FPS? Not a huge difference, especially if your card isn't capable of delivering >100Hz.
I've never had this happen. And if it does, you can easily set your monitor to temporarily run at 60Hz.
yes. i have been doing 60hz all my life and 144/120 is just amazing. even moving your mouse around is awesome, never mind the difference in games.
if you just use your pc for work, then probably not worth it. if you play games, especially csgo, then you'll see a huge difference. if all you do is program and browse the chans then its probably not worth it for you.
games - yes get it
everything else - no
Before I start, I'd like to make it clear that I am an intern network admin and have googled and tried multiple fixes, but nothing worked. You /g/uys are my last resort.
I have a peculiar problem that I cannot solve.
Starting 2 or 3 weeks ago, webpages have been loading very slowly on my main PC. Sometimes they fail to load alltogether, and I have to refresh the page a few times before it finally shows up.
My connection is just fine, I get 200 mbit (~24MB/s) down when downloading. It seems that once a website has actually loaded, I can...

Pic related are the only extensions installed in Firefox. The problem is the same in Internet Explorer though, so I don't think it's Firefox.
