For personal reasons, he generally does not actively browse the web from his computer; rather, he uses wget and reads the fetched pages from his e-mail mailbox, claiming to limit direct access via browsers to a few sites such as his own or those related to his work with GNU and the FSF.
He only connects to the Internet maybe three times a day, he downloads them to his local machine so he read them while traveling w/o an Internet connection.
He uses a text console most of time, i.e. no X server.
He doesn't, he acts in them
Or has sex with his parrot

If they looked at it they would go insane, strip naked, run to the nearest workshop and scream for metal bars and turtle shells and promptly go on a murderous rampage killing most of the city population and law enforcement (as well as suplexing a tank into oblivion) when they fail to build whatever they wanted to build.
Please avoid using the term “photoshop” as a verb, meaning any kind of photo manipulation or image editing in general. Photoshop is just the name of one particular image editing program, which should be avoided since it is proprietary. There are plenty of free programs for editing images, such as the GIMP.
The only thing Stallman is missing is a tinfoil hat
Seriously, how can such a great contributor turn so crazy? wgetting pages? fucking hell dude, nobody gives two shits about your browsing habits
Either he's nuts (most likely) or has some really dark things he wants to hide...
Oh, you linked gnu.org again. I'm so sorry. I've realized my mistakes. You were right. How could I have been so blind. The additional link to the same website without any additional commentary enlightened me beyond the narrow minded hard-headed views I previously publicly shared. How can I make it up to you? A good dick sucking? How about some hardcore shilling about GNU's philosophy? This way we can convert more non-believers.
Holy shit, is that fat fuck actually getting fatter?
>pic fucking related
Right? How can someone who can't even maintain something as simple as their own health and hygiene have the audacity to tell others how to maintain "muh freedums".
I'll never understand the rms/autism fanclub
I explained "install gentoo" to him after reading that. I felt sorry for him because he sound like he really doesn't get it, so I enlightened him to what the hell we were on about.
>feeling sorry for someone not getting 4chan's absurd humour
Do you feel sorry for Fox news as well?
I would if they weren't pricks about it. RMS was taking us seriously in an understanding way, so I thought it was only fair that he sees the full extent of the jokes that include him.
>I wish ATI would free this microcode, or put it in ROM, so that we could endorse its products and stop preferring the products of a company that is no friend of ours.
Did he update this, I haven't read this before. Nice to know that he isn't completely oblivious when it comes to Leenucks for desktops
>bashing rms for how he looks, talks, being a jew, "probably smells", is a hobo, etc.
>there's a lot of posts saying his ideas are shit because he's fat.
This is called "trolling". It's where people on the internet make posts that are inflammatory or misguided with the intention of causing mass butthurt.
Because it irritates the fuck out of hardcore freetards. If you invest so much of your emotion into one thing, somebody is going to come along and poke fun at you because they know how sensitive you are about it.
But that's exactly how nerds tick, they invest themselves heavily into everything they do and when you poke fun at them, they literally explode because they have to consider that everything they thought was perfect might not be so rosy after all.
Yes of course there are. This is 4chan, the cesspit of the internet full of NEET manchildren who have nothing to do with their lives other than vent their bitterness and hatred at the world through a keyboard.
"Isn't it ironic that the proprietary software developers call us communists? We are the ones who have provided for a free market, where they allow only monopoly. … if the users chooses this proprietary software package, he then falls into this monopoly for support … the only way to escape from monopoly is to escape from proprietary software, and that is what the free software movement is all about. We want you to escape and our work is to help you escape. We hope you will escape to the free world. The free world is the new continent in cyberspace that we have built so we can live here in freedom. It's impossible to live in freedom in the old world of cyberspace, where every program has its feudal lord that bullies and mistreats the users. So, to live in freedom we have to build a new continent. Because this is a virtual continent, it has room for everyone, and there are no immigration restrictions. And because there were never indigenous peoples in cyberspace, there is also no issue of taking away their land. So everyone is welcome in the free world, come to the free world, live with us in freedom. The free software movement aims for the liberation of cyberspace and everyone in it. "
Except I didn't say anything about him looking funny or being jewish, I just pointed out ya'll niggas gettin' trolled. I'm not someone who does the trolling but I know when it happens because I don't invest myself into things like most people on /g/ do.
The level of butthurt in this thread is fucking beautiful.
>Except I didn't say anything about him looking funny or being jewish
Again, I'm not talking about you specifically, I'm commenting the comments in this thread.
>I just pointed out ya'll niggas gettin' trolled.
We know we are being trolled, but we are wondering why this trolling noticeably increased more or less "over night".
Freetards every time someone disagrees with, or criticizes Stalman.
Reminder that your stupid zealot campaign against 'evil propritary software' has made BILLIONS of dollars of profit and savings for HARDWARE COMPANIES
Samsung, IBM, Every Android phone maker, they all thank you for your hard, unpaid worked GNU/Goy!
Ahahaha you ACTUALLY thought you were sticking it to those evil kkkapitalist american pig dogs didn't you
Enjoy your 0.001% of that profit as peanuts in return :)
>Good goy, serve your hardware masters, thanks for letting us slash and burn our software engineering team...ehehehe
you have done well softwareonly babbies, you have literally razed your fucking industry to the ground all for the profit of others, literally not taking one red cent in return
I'm not invested in any side of the proprietary vs free argument, but I find it silly that people compare free software to communism. It is actually free market capitalism, just most devs choose to give away their software free of charge and thus, don't make much money.
But at the end of the day, if you made a FOSS program and decided that you wanted to charge users money for the convenience of downloading compiled binaries, you could do that without going against Free Software principles.
The corporations are actually the communists since they wish to control everything and to exert a monopoly.
>but we are wondering why this trolling noticeably increased more or less "over night".
Probably because GNU/Newfags getting their jimmies rustled for the first time are providing a fertile environment for trolls.
Or because /g/ is in serious need of some decent moderators and not some butthurt teenager.
The "free software" movement is naive and counterproductive. In demanding that all software be free by limiting their code to use with other GPL compatible code, they jail valuable information and confine it to their ideology.
There is no human right to view source code. It is akin to demanding the blueprints to your car and a full auto shop free of charge. Convenient if you wish to modify your car or make a new car, but completely unnecessary and dangerous for those with trade secrets.
All demanding this does is stick users of proprietary software with awful in-house shit, and users of free software with awful GPL compatible shit (lol, gnutls!)
>but secrets are bad, all information should be free! then everyone will know everything and society will move forward!
That would happen in a a world populated by seven billion richard stallmans, but normal people like to have significant monetary incentive, so not the donations and support model that only works for some types of software.
This is also true. /g/'s moderators have to be some of the shittiest on the whole site. I've been banned just for having opinions before and the whole "quality of posts" copypasta is basically the mod's way of saying "you hurt my feelings :(("
Banning people on /g/ is useless anyway, we all know how to reset our fucking routers (apart from the unfortunate souls with static IPs)
Nice comeback kid, softwarebabbies literally destroying their livelihood, all in the name of their precious fat fuck disgusting RMS-god
my fucking sides, how deluded can you GNU/Tards be?
I tried to read that sentence three times, but it still doesn't make any sense. What does games and Gamestop have to do with anything?
I make software and firmware for IPTV devices.
This is literally 100% accurate but retarded SoftwareOnlyChildren would never know jack fucking shit about blueprints or schematics and cannot handle such a basic analogy
Imagine some retard who demanded a human right to the schematics of every single product he purchased
>apart from the unfortunate souls with static IPs
Which includes me (and quite a few others I reckon) since I run my own mail service as well as need an SSH entry point (the latter could be solved with using DynDNS though, but the former needs a static IP).
Open Source yes please, but any way of excepting information is barbaric. If the information could be dangerous, LEARN HOW IT WORKS or dont use it, anyone is clever enough to realize Skype is a fucking botnet, you don't need the Skype source code for that.
A car could in fact start itself and drive right through your garage, constantly send your location to authorities for "anti theft" reasons, determine the address it is most parked at, learn your most traveled routes, and crash itself to kill or injure you.
Proprietary software could find your porn collection in a poorly designed OS, but with proper isolation (hey linuxfags, does xorg have GUI isolation yet?) it's not an issue. It can only know what you tell it. If you feel your info is too sensitive, than use free software, but free software is not a necessity for any more than just the OS, some networking shit, and possible your chat program.
Except that only a tiny incredibly niche % of people can make any kind of money while doing GPL stuff because it's limited to a fraction of the market
Reminder for delusional NEETs : The vast, VAST majority of PROFITS -- $$$ - BELONG TO PROPRITARY SOFTWARE COMPANIES
Guess what happens if these disappeared in yoru gloroius muh ganno/freedumb world?
You are now out of a job (oh wait, you never fucking had one anyway) or if you had one you're now getting way, way less because of supply and demand
You know supply and demand, don't you? Someone so educated as yourself should be Well Aware Of The Laws Of Economics And How The Real World Works.
But hey keep working towards that ideal world where you have no employable skills, you really deserve it kid. I'll be laughing from afar.
Reading free news, forming a based opinion. If you are too unmotivated or too stupid too look after things yourself, you probably don't care anyway. Intelligent people will always ask and since they are intelligent, they will find ways to figure if something is good or bad.
Sieg Heil mein Herr Blockwart!
>A car could in fact start itself and drive right through your garage, constantly send your location to authorities for "anti theft" reasons, determine the address it is most parked at, learn your most traveled routes, and crash itself to kill or injure you.
Except for the first part, the point is that the car can't make changes to the outside system (because it doesn't require one to run), but proprietary software does.
I have the right by law to know what ingredients are in the food I eat, and so should it be with the software I "consume" as well.
Back in the days, there were no such thing as proprietary software. You licensed software, sure, but you always got the source code. In computing, the concept of closed-source is relatively new and it is cancerous and holding the market back. In my eyes, it is communism.
>make any kind of money
>laughing from afar
Your mother's basement is, indeed, far from where civilisation begins. Your raging rant about the injustice of the world satisfies me a lot, knowing that unqualified pseudoeducated internet trolls like you must really have a shitty life to build up that massive amounts of frustration.
Captcha Abraham ali safo
To be fair, there is no proof. Not a single person has bothered to do packet analysis of Skype.
Sure, the fact that Microsoft is alleged to collude with the NSA makes it more likely that Skype is doing things behind your back, but it's just plain stupid to say that it's definitely the case if you have zero proof.
>posts a list with Oracle as #2
>doesn't realize that Oracle is one of the biggest contributors to free as in free software
Yes, they make proprietary software but they also contribute to free software.
WHAT A SURPRISE
>T-THEY'RE AFTER ME
>IT'S A CONSPIRACY
>LE 4CHINS IS SO IMPORTANT THE NSA IS POSTING ON IT
YOU ARE NOTHING
YOU ARE WORTHLESS
YOU ARE NOBODY
END IT KID
The fuck? I'm just asking "how do we know that Skype is in fact a botnet".
I'm anything but tech literate and i just wanted to know.
In this post >>42849628 i asked if looking where the packets of data go to would be a valid option.
Proprietary software makes changes to the outside system when your system is insecure by design
A system that requires absolute trust and certainty in every piece of potentially buggy software, and therefore a tremendous amount of work auditing every piece of software, belongs in the trash. Or the 1970s when that was okay because all the software came from the same people that made the OS and was used by real sysadmins with production concerns instead of home users.
Your solution is not to demand free software for security, but to replace your shitty OS.
>HE'S A GNU/TARD
>HE ACTUALLYU THINKS HE DOESNT' DESERVE CORPORATE MASTERS
THIS IS IT
THE ABSOLUTE BEST GOY
YOU ARE IT YOU FUCKING SLAVE
YOU ACTUALLY THINK HARDWARE COMPANIES WHICH SLASH AND BURNED THEIR SOFTWARE TEAMS THANKS TO MUH GNU/FREEDUMB SHIT LIKE ANDROID AREN'T YOUR MASTERS
YOU HAVE SAVED COMPANIES LIKE SAMSUNG, IBM, BASICALLY EVERY ANDROID MANUFACTUER
BILLIONS OF DOLLARS
AND YOU HAVE RECEIVED NOTHING IN RETURN
MAYBE A FEW PEANUTS FROM IBM
YOU ****ACTUALLY***** THINK YOU AREN'T SLAVES TO YOUR CORPORATE MASTERS
MY FUCKING SIDES
So many things wrong with this post
>all systems that doesn't run every single program or service in a sandboxed environment is insecure by design
>mission critical systems belongs in the trash
>you should replace your OS and not the software you are using (even though the software might not even work on another OS)
Nobody important posts on 4chan, get it together kid. This is a place for shitposting and cartoons for manchildren
only a GNU/NEET would be so fucking delusional as to think the 4chins matter
Oh wow, you're really loosing it, aren't you?
Is it now I tell you that Samsung and IBM are some of the major contributors to Android. I don't know how they are saving money by contributing with development.
>So many things wrong
This thread in a nutshell.
No, systems that don't run inconsequential shit launched by a normal user in a sandbox are insecure by design
>b-b-but muh unix is mission critical, somewhere!
>NO, LET'S NOT IMPROVE OUR OPERATING SYSTEMS, LET'S KILL THE SOFTWARE INDUSTRY AND MAKE EVERYTHING OPEN SOURCE
>THINK ABOUT THE PORTABILITY
ITT: nobody knows that even free software can be malicious and that a thousand eyes on the code never necessarily understand it, and are rarely in front of clever enough brains to spot well obfuscated backdoors
But I'm not even a freetard
>capitalism is slavery
And yet somehow free software is called "communism"...
>seriously implying that Linux-based operating systems aren't some of the most secure, stable and resilient there is
>hurr durr replace it
Microsoft, pls go
>the software industry is killed by open source
Yes, like academia and research is completely killed by everything being open, right?
It's capitalism, really. If you need a monopoly for your business model to be sustainable, it's highly anti-competitive and harms the consumer.
Quads aside, if i understood >>42849481 it means that the GNU community (or "whateverthefuckstallmannandlinuswanttobecalled" for short) "forces" you to make things that are only compatible with other GNU stuff while making them non-compatible with propietary stuff?
Ohboy this thread is confusing the hell out of me.
>the most secure
But you can't trust proprietary software because it could have undesired effects on your entire system? Sure is secure.
You could always run it in something like a jail, but hey, why not make that default to protect the retards? Inb4 classic /g/ says "if you don't want to read a book to use your OS, you deserve everything you get"
No, configuring selinux is not the solution to this. Selinux is in case someone finds a remote exploit in your patchy web server, not in case the program you're running has a "hidden scp everything email@example.com:/logs/you/"
/g/: Where a more secure operating system is a bad idea because you could just make everything GNU/Software and audit it instead
Why do you keep saying I'm supporting windows?
I never told you to install windows. Windows isn't any more secure than shitnix except that it actually allows for GUI isolation, but what does that matter when everything else is a fucking mess?
BSD is a waste of time. Linux has OS level virtualization and chroots too (albeit not in X, so using it for things that accept input like skype is pointless), but it actually has more software than that archaic piece of shit and the userland is actually featureful
The UNIX design in general needs to die and die soon
>There are actually people on this board who shill on behalf of corporations for minimum pay
This literally isn't true you delusional fucking Unwarranted Self Important GNU/NEET
>THEY'RE AFTER ME
>IT'S A CONSPIRACY
>DA JOOZ ARE OUT TO GET ME
>OH FUG IT'S THE NSA DEY POSTING ON MY NEET CARTOON FOR CHILDREN ANIME IMAGE BOARD SHITPOSTING HOMELAND
4chan is not important
nobody important has ever used 4chan on a regular basis
you are the worst and lowest form of the internet
you are almost universally irrelevant hermit shut in permavirgin friendless NEETs
1) The NSA/merchants are very much targeting people who use Linux: http://www.techspot.com/news/57316-nsa-classifies-linux-journal-readers-tor-and-tails-linux-users-as-extremists.html
2) I don't use Linux for any of those reasons you've posted
>hurr durr unwarranted self importance
Hey, that's an old encyclopedia dramatica meme, isn't it? Looks like someone did their reading before coming here
Nobody is out to get you guys, they'll just confiscate your laptop and image your hard drive whenever you cross the border. Then tell the RIAA about your suspiciously large collection of suspiciously obscure music that was never for sale via a service that didn't add DRM that isn't present in yours.
You deserve every lawsuit you get after that. Artists are very special people who deserve eternal compensation for their work. Carpenters aren't paid for every person that sits on their furniture, but musicians are super awesome and need to be paid for every person that wants a recording of a song they wrote. Deal with it.
Xorg's contribution is much more important, shall we name it Xorg/GNU/Linux then?
No wait, actually it should be Alsa/Xorg/GNU/Linux.
No wait, actually...
what a bunch of submissive faggots /g/ is
thanks for your thread
>hijack dead thread
>such a le epic troll that I am
