Get in here and post watches.
Remember, you're only a pleb if you don't wear a watch!

looking for a nice tritium analog watch, quartz movement, not necessarily 'diver' style (huge large bezel, etc). not expensive either <$600. tritium in hands is a must, tritium 12, 3, 6, 9 dial would be nice.
extra points for stuff like stopwatch, solar recharge, atomic timekeeping etc, but i havent found anything like it so not keeping my hopes up.
r8 my watch, /g/. I actually don't wear it as much as I'd like (sensitive skin), but I feel it looks pretty stylish/minimalist.
so guys i need another strap for my nomos tangente
what should i get? already have black leather and beige velour, considering brown leather and brown velour:
i want a casual strap
Just bought this for casual wearing. I also have an omega seamaster though do not always want to wear it.
They're worth it I think. I got an HMT Janata, same movement but different face style, a few weeks ago for $25. Really great simple mechanical watch. It takes about a week for it to lose a full minute, or ~9 seconds a day +/-, I haven't done much in the way of rigorous accuracy testing.
/biz/ here, heard the IT department was rating watches.
my old and my new.
having to charge every few days is sucky, but notifications and phonecalls on the arm is kinda nice.
I don't really get what people want from smartwatches other than notifications, really. s'all about convenience.
Not sure what model this is or much anything about it as I got it as a gift about 10 years ago. Some sort of eco-drive anyway.
It's been the best watch I've had though, while not exactly beautiful it's been working flawlessly through everyday use and seen water, sauna, dust, drops and all other sort of abuse. Glass is still scratch free and hasn't dropped a second as far as I know (kind of to be expected though?).
thinking of buying this, any thoughts? it's a cheap chinese 'homage' (rip-off) of the Nomos Tangente
it's only 120 dollaridoos
what's wrong with the black face
i think it would look smaller than the white one, considering it's 38.4 mm. i have tiny wrists, my nomos tangente (white/silver face) is 35mm and already looks just right
i think you're right actually, looking over some comparison pics
of course the white one has the blued hands while the black one has silver... fuck man i can't decide. feels somewhat dumb getting the exact replica of what i already have, especially because i only have 1 watch, and having 2 colors would be better /fa/wise
I've got one, and I'd say it's worth the price. There's nothing overly standout about it, but it's a rather nice size. If they did away with the rotor on the back and made it a handwind only it might have been nicer just to get it a little thinner, as it does stand relatively tall compared to the counterparts it's based off of. The white dial that it now comes with is really bland. It apparently used to come with a silvery type finish on the face, but that's not the case anymore. Still, can't go wrong for the price for a bauhaus styled watch with an automatic movement.
>chubby NATO guy has one
And I'm usually in these threads. I get new goodies all the time.
Only really like the Mondaine, but that's just me.
it doesn't have that nice pearlescent effect like the real nomos? your pic looks like a very flat white, what about the seconds dial, how is the circular engraving?
maybe i'll get the blue one
Sadly, the sub is the most copied watch besides the date just. Nothing beats the real ones, however. Someone made a comment to me as well before I got the real thing in regards to my Seiko "sea urchin"
to confirm, yours doesn't look like this one?
Correct, it doesn't look like that one. It would appear shortly before I got mine, they started shipping out with flat white faces instead of the nice pearlescent silvery type face. I was pretty bummed about it when I first got it. The concentric circles around the seconds hand dial are there, but god damn you can't even tell. I like the fit and finish of the whole thing, but the dial is very sterile, hence my reasoning for wearing nato straps with it to add a bit of 'pop'.
roger that, thanks
yeah, with the flat white it does seem to look a bit too... 'spacious' or something. it would be less of an issue if it was smaller i think. especially the area at 8-10 to center and 2-4 to center.
might order a blue one, why not, it's a great price. it's really just so i can wear >muh bauhaus without worrying about losing it too much
Got this for my birthday. its alright, got a bunch of useless shit i dont need on it though
>ford in charge of design
Cheap and does great its job.
What's the best place to get this watch? also that watch vs pic relared?
>have 6 watches
>wear a different one everyday because they're all so great
>get a 7th watch
>It's 4 times as nice as the other watches
>also 4 times more expensive
>haven't worn the other watches in months, have just been wearing this new watch everyday
Can anyone identify the model? The closest I've found is http://www.rolex.com/watches/oyster-perpetual/m177200-0007.html but the outer body, hour marks and dials are different.
Don't get Invicta, they are the worst watch brand on Earth. If you want accuracy, get a nice Seiko quartz. If you get an automatic movement for less than $4,000, it will break within a year. Don't.
>If you get an automatic movement for less than $4,000, it will break within a year. Don't.
I wonder who could be behind this post.
I got a Seiko and it started losing an hour per day. I paid $180 for it. It would cost $80 to service. Why would I spend that? Basically $200 in the trash. Got a Rolex. Life is good.
it doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, but then i have very skinny wrists and only own a 35mm watch (pic related), so i dunno.
i've seen some diving watches that i like (mostly rolex homages) but they're just way too bulky for my shitty wrists
>you're on an imageboard, post a pic
i sort of like this one but it's no doubt way too expensive as a first watch
>tfw I own this watch
>tfw I thought it was only 200$ until I just looked up the price
this one is a bit cheaper, but it's basically a rolex copy
You should feel great knowing they're very inexpensive to fix.
They both run on a $5 miyota quartz movement.
i just got this from ebay today. Any suggestions on the strap?
Timex with Indiglo and a Casio because master race.
well yeah for some reason they're usually tacky and gaudy as shit
but i mean nice as in being able to admire the movement, and the movement being something that would be admired
>mfw this picture comes from thearabwatchguide.com
The only cheap watch I bought on these websites is a PAM lookalike. I've been told silver turns black after a few days in watches that sell there. Would you say so?
I have the one in the pic, but with the classics sandwich dial with 6, 9 and 12 in big.
How old are you? I have very tiny wrists (15,5cm) and after a while I found that 38mm watches would wear a bit too small... I have two 40mm watches and they're just fine, only too bulky but there aren't many handwound watches around. Buy a shitty 40mm to get used to the size.
I really wouldn't worry too much. I have a habit of looking at people's wrists and watches, and you'll be wearing a smaller watch than the average dude even at 38mm. Thank Fossil, Diesel, Armani and the likes for that.
Man. I have small wrists (where did you measure your wrists? If I measure right below that pointy wrist bone I get 15-17cm I forgot) and wide hips and small ribcage and narrow shoulders I almost look like pic related should I kill myself?
actually this guy's chest has more muscle, I look like a fuckign 12 year old if you look at my chest and abs
fucking shit man!
You measure where you intend to wear the watch. I measure at the thinnest part of my forearm but I would blindguess that many measure the actual wrist.
Anyway I have pectus excavatum so you don't get to whine to me.
Can someone recommend a good diver that's very cheap?
I'm talking about >50$ cheap, because taxes in Europe are huge and something that's $50 on amazon is almost $100 on amazon.co.uk.
Pic related looks great in my opinion, unfortunately I heard that it isnt produced anymore. On amazon.co.uk I didn't see anything. It has a product page but only some random YooKay seller offers it and I have to pay about 60 pounds for it. That means about $100 and then I also have to pay about 10 pounds for shipping, so that's another 15$ meaning I'd have to pay almost 120 fucking dollars for a quartz watch.
Forgot pic. Model is filename. I don't mind quartz, in fact that's a bonus for me, fuck having to wear my watch on my right hand whenever I fap just to recharge it.
They still sell this one, it's the older model that rare cuz it had bright light if I recall correctly.
There are probably many submariner quartz lookalikes but Casio is nicer imo, because it's a legitimate brand for quartz.
sorry for your caved in chest brah. I'm that guy, and I have scoliosis (my spine is an S and not a perfect vertical line) and back pain because of it
so about the same thing that's in some ways better and in some ways worse than what you have and for this reason I can't go to the gym and squat hundreds of kilos... don't worry man you're not alone
you might want to get checked for Marfan's, though, its common for people like me and you
do you know any similar-looking models? I don't care about the movement I just want it to look great (like the one in the pic), cost less than 50 in freedom currency and be accurate. I'm a total noob in watches so I don't know where to search for proper reviews, I trust /g/ more than amazon or some shady watch forum full of rich 40 year old businessmen.
Probably getting the Stowa in 6 months or so.
I'm not a fan of divers so I don't know much. But watchuseek's "affordable" section is full of, well, affordable watches. It's where I started to gather information on the hobby. Read the "what are you wearing" threads every day and you'll have a map of brands, types of watches, and prices in your head. It'll take a few weeks at least but you'll make a better decision than what I can say, I guess.
Thanks for your help. The main problem with Europe is that prices are much higher than in America and the wages are smaller. Amazon.co.uk still has decent prices, but in my country that casio would be like $200 or more.
What's the most important factor that affects Eastern Europe's smell and makes it so stinky? the putreFACTOR!
You're welcome, but are you sure you're looking at it right? In France the Casio divers are plenty around 50€ shipped,
and I can't find the one you're mentioning but on the top of my head I recall seeing it at around 35€ (!).
This any good? Got it for 300$. Also what's a great watch for 3000?
Interesting. Thanks again for your help. I forgot about amazon.fr and amazon.de and the others. That blue one looks great but I still like the mdv-106's look a bit more. I think you're right about the price, I recall that I wanted to buy the same model a few years ago and I recall seeing a "35" price tag, could've been euros or pounds I don't remember.
Judging from those names MTP and MTW are prefixes that they assign to diver watches, right? When I searched "casio diver" on amazon.com I didn't find those 2 so maybe that's why.
Amazon is bad at description... I just go to the watch category and start to select sub-categories from there. See Seiko too, they're automatics so you may or may not like them but some at not overly above your budget. Have fun. \o/
im not the same guy btw, I'm probably a bit skinnier than that guy and I have a bit more fat on the hips and my ribcage is slightly smaller. I basically look like shit, it's terrible, clothes look hilarious on me, i have a huge head as well.
>tfw tried a medium sized watch today
>it was so large and loose on my tiny hand I could fit 2 fingers between the bracelet and my wrist
worst thing is that im a lanklet but i have the wrists of a 5'5 woman
Do you have nice legs at least?
today i cried a lot about this im so sad i went out to buy food and 4 girls laughed at me on the street one even stopped walking just to stare at me and smile then started laughing now im attention whoring on an imageboard alright now i go to sleep cya later my watch loving friend
i wore a back brace when i was a kid to help with my scoliosis (spine is shaped like S) and i think my ribcage was deformed because of the tight backbrace (I could barely breahe) and turned like the legs of those chinese women who wore tiny shoes all their lives.
about 20, but my upper body looks like it belongs to a 12 year old and my wide hips look like they really belong to a guy tall like me
no I have back problems, I fucking hate it, it looks like my entire skeleton is fucked, sometimes i get depressed like I am now and can't do anything for ab out a week, then I return back to normal and be obsessed with technology again
thanks for talking to me
poorfag canadian here
Seriously considering this http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B000JQFX1G/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2C1JPWBNV8FNE&coliid=I3W0V3PB2T1FB9
I just need something that I can use while swimming. If anyone has cheaper recommendations that would be nice
I'm skinny as shit too but I get by. My wrists are 6" but I still wear 40mm watches just fine. As long as the lug to lug width is less than your wrist width and the lugs curve downward you'll be in good shape. Honestly try lurking around /fa/ so you can find some more fitting clothes for a "hungry skeleton".
How about this one?
It looks slightly better than the invicta one
I have a soviet Raketa mechanical watch(pic related), and it got left in a hot car on accident after a springbar broke. Like, really hot, it was 120 degrees outside the car.
I can't wind it anymore, is there any hope?
my watches here
you have to open it, if you have a right tool, and you'd be able to fix it in a minute without any knowledge. probably the little teeth wheel (i don't know what it's called) slipped sideways or something.
Like I said above the watch is fake. The dial and probably crown is likely Chinese made. The rest of the watch might be original parts pulled from who knows where but fit together into an unoriginal ugly combination. Return it if possible, otherwise I hope you didn't spend much on it.
If you still insist there's plenty of black and red striped natos. You could maybe also try olive green, but I can't tell from the picture how well it will match. That also means you could try the "James Bond" nato strap which is black, red, and olive or gray striped.
Depends what broke. The temperature shift could have fucked the mainspring. If it's not obvious when you open the caseback your best bet is getting another watch to swap movements with or a new watch all together. Servicing could cost more than that.
Yeah, let me pull out my phone constantly at work because I need to do something at a specific time! Real fucken good plan there, I'm sure my boss and the customers will love seeing me repeatedly checking my phone
I really only own one watch, and I've never worn it. My grandpa gave it to me a few years back.
All I know about it is that it winds.
When you work at the airport, you always have to be writing times down and walking through metal detectors.
It's easier for me to just use a cheap digital watch that doesn't set anything off.
This has $300 piece of shit has been keeping time fine for two years
it's also ugly as fuck
>If you get an automatic movement for less than $4,000
I have owned and seen several autos that last right around 2 years before they start to get too far off +/- 2-5 seconds a day
and then they just need a good servicing, just like any mechanical watch
>His watch doesn't report barometric, compass direction or altitude (seemingly within 200m +/-)
The temperature seems to be only worthwhile if reported after 30 minutes of not wearing, mind.
