You know when Microsoft started to go wrong?
When they decided that they will push what the company wants, rather than selling something that the consumers actually want.
Nobody wants this metro minimalist shit.
Microsoft is living on borrowed time and only exists because of their legacy and stranglehold of the desktop market with Windows 7.
Windows 10 is the exact same thing
No, it's not even change, IT'S GOING FUCKING BACKWARD. Windows 7 didn't, and Android is great because it doesn't, require learning to use the CRYPTIC CORNERS AND EDGES to operate it (and sometimes even CRYPTIC COMMANDS JUST SO THIS WINDOWS 8 BULLSHIT WORKS).
>Windows 10 is the exact same thing
Windows 10 is barely in beta status, so it's too early to tell what it will be.
But feel free to do magic ball predictions. Can you also tell what will Windows 12 be like?
sounds to me like you're just dumb and can't stand to learn how to use a piece of software, you should try linux some time, I'd like to hear your bitching every time you run into something that requires you to read the man page.
You should fucking kill yourself Or I will Rape your Mam. Gnu/Linus 4ever!
I just want Windows to feel professional again.
Nothing about the Metro interface says "I have shit to get done."
>Nobody wants this metro minimalist shit.
that might be what I like the most on 8.1
so sad it's not applied to every icon / button like in WPs
but I agree it fucking lack of customisation/ricing options
Windows 10 has the start menu back again on the desktop, no metro start screen (although that still exists for Tablets and hybrid devices will default to it when not docked)
For general consumer plebs, this is the new start menu.
>Windows 10 is the exact same thing
You are an exact total retard.
And since ENTERPRISE QUALITY won't want any of that 'windows store' and other bullshit, you can pretty easily turn it back to a nice real start menu
>or force those settings as policy in AD
Windows 8 is the exact same shit as Windows 7 which is the exact same shit as Windows Vista which will all be the exact same shit as Windows 10. The only people who lose out from a full screen start menu are the sort of people who use windows for 8 years without learning how to use search and the who like to multitask while looking up shit in their four column start menu. I switch from 7 and work to 8 at home and the only thing that I even notice, much less bothers me, is having to deal with the godawful pre-8 task manager.
That can't be true. They caved in to the intelligence of the lowest common denominator. If the people can't handle a new UI give them back the old start menu, so they keep buying Windows.
The reason I installed Win8.1 is because it removed the Windows 95 - style start menu. It was about fucking time for that old shit to die. Hierarchical menus are a thing of the past, they make no sense in a UI which is supposed to be the primary way of launching programs.
Fuck that. I won't upgrade to 10, lel.
You can also enable the fullscreen start menu all the time if you really want too...
Microsoft, remembering they aren't Apple, allowed choice again...
Desktop windows will default to the >>45215202 Start menu.
Tablets will default to Fullscreen/Win8 style start menu
Hybrid Tablet/Notebook devices will default to the >>45215202 start menu when docked and the Fullscreen/Win8 menu when in tablet mode.
All of these options are changeable.
All of the options are enforceable through AD for enterprise.
You can turn it off, but there isn't a way to remove it yet (I'm sure tools will exist for this, just not from MS)
No, you can remove 99% of them, with difficulty - but a few are required due to bad design choices. (control panel deps metro pc settings for example)
Will Longhorn ever see the light of day?
Microsoft admitted a long time ago their Longhorn presentations were entirely fabricated. There will be no "light of day" for Longhorn because it never existed as you imagine it anyways.
I also find it hilarious that we're on a "technology forum," but half the people here don't even know anything about Windows 10 and the changes they're making even though it is PUBLICALLY AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW.
The 'its better because its new' mentality makes microshills even more retarded. Windows 8 is anything but an improvement in any way imaginable. And no, the task manager is not superior, having used the one on 8 and 10. Same damn thing except the processes tab is shit. Charms bar, metro apps, PC settings, everything else, all a step backward.
Windows 8 is noticeably quicker than Windows 7 on the same exact machine, so yeah, there's a real improvement to be noted beyond all the cosmetic shit you and others can't seem to grasp despite literally being made easy enough for 8 year olds to operate.
Yea 8.1 under the hood stuff, is pretty fucking great, and defintely better than 7. Also, in 8.1 they calmed down the UI stuff quite a bit, defaults to desktop for mouse and keyboard etc. Between pinning apps and search you never need to open the metro screen, and thats without installing Start8 etc. W10 will make this even better.
8.1 is the same thing as 7 if not better. The only thing that's changed is start but that hasn't really changed much either because you can press start and start typing to search exactly like in 7.
>what the company wants
are poorfag NEETs this stupid?
big companies dont take a shit without a focus group and rooms full of experts telling them what to do.
metro is exactly like this car. they listened to the customer and the customer designed something they dont want.
No that's Yosemite. Once Apple names their software after something the original meaning doesn't exist. Therefore you are running OS 10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10.10
> Can't figure out how to do basic tasks on a fucking desktop standard pc that even third world children who probably used a computer 3 times in their life know already.
No left, the window controls are on the left.
I'm on Windows 8 "Pro" and apparently I can't upgrade to 8.1 directly from the Metro store because of that.
How do I switch Windows versions without having to reinstall the whole fucking thing?
It's better because of the new features it adds which you retardedly ignore because you're a dumb child that can't handle change.
The way you punctuate your sentences reflects how much of an idiot you are.
>consumers: we sure love to PLAY with these TABLETS AND PHONES
>MS: you hear that? copy that interface and shove it into our DESKTOP ENTERPRISE OS
I don't know if that's "listening to the consumer" so much as it is completely misinterpreting everything being said like a long game of telephone.
>things that don't scale to window size
jesus christ, it's fucking 2015 almost
User's fault sure. But you know it's going to happen.
No different than this, I guess
I think I figured out what's wrong with the Microsoft design process.
The best part is that the window and information within could easily be the size of your typical popup prompt. They're really taking this negative space and large text thing waaaaay too fucking far.
