Getting a new smartphone very soon, /g/. I can't decide between these, pick for me.
The Contenders are: Z3 Compact, OPO, Moto G, Moto X. I seriously can't make my mind up between these four, or are there better recommended ones? I'll put the order in tonight, budget isn't an issue. Also, which Moto gen is preferred? I've heard stuff on both of them.
Also been considering a HTC, but I don't really know anything about their models.
Moto X (2013) is the most comfortable phone I've ever used, and the active notifications are a 10/10 software feature. The 2014 model is significantly more expensive and not much of an upgrade. The screen upgrade is indiscernible from the original due to the increase in size, and the specs are largely irrelevant. Good option if you want a bigger phone but not worth the money.
Z3c is the best looking phone of this generation. It's a good option vs. the Moto X if you'd like a phone with a camera that isn't fucking awful, or you need the waterproofing for some reason.
OPO is fuckhuge and laggy, I'd wait till their second iteration.
Moto G is for poor people
Also you might want to include a modicum of information about what you're looking for in a phone so I don't have to make useless generic statements that you could find in any fucking review
Something that won't go out of date for at least 2 years. Might change the Compact for a normal Z3, now that I think of it, those extra centimeters won't affect my lifestyle much. Day-to-day use, maybe I'll rice it.
I think you mean "if budget is a problem"
If budget wasn't a problem he's get a Z3 or Moto X. G and OPO are the cheapest on the list.
If you don't feel you can afford a Z3 or Moto X, go for the OPO. The camera might not be amazing, but pretty much everything else is nice and dandy.
Also Nexus 6 looks nice, why isn't that on your list?
>ut the new moto x has a quadcore, better camera, better nearly everything.
It's also $300 more, and those specs aren't useful at all unless you play games. The camera is still fucking awful compared to any flagship anyways
I would seriously consider getting the Note 3 instead. The price is almost the same. If you get the Note 3 you will be able to upgrade the battery if you need more juice - the Z3 can't do that. Also, the S-Pen might serve you more than you think - the Z3 won't give you that.
But in all fairness, Sony really has stepped their game up. Though I would still advise the Note 3 over the Z3 because in addition it is a bigger screen so you won't have to squint and put your face so close to the screen as much.
moto x. everything else is shit especially the shit from that co. in gookertino
I really wish the regular Z3 had the color choice of the Compact.
That aquamarine looks fucking delicious.
Screen size Z3: 5.2 inches, Note 3: 5.7 inches
Resolution Z3: 1080p, Note 3: 1080p
PPI Z3: 424 ppi, Note 3: 386 ppi
Camera Z3: 21MP, Note 3: 13MP
Battery Z3: non replaceable, Note 3: replacable
CPU Z3: 2.5GHz, Note 3: 2.3GHz
MicroSD Z3: 128GB, Note 3: 128GB
The only real deal breaker the Z3 has is non replaceable battery, smaller screen, and no S-Pen at least for me.
I got a Moto G on /g/'s recommendation. Its nice, fast enough, good screen, just make sure you get the updated one with HSPA and a memory card slot. Pretty damn nice for a $200 unlocked phone.
>microSD, up to 32 GB
no 1080p, I don't like that
>Quad-core 1.2 GH
Thats a bit slow anon
An S3 would be a better option here, still very impressed Moto realized their microsd sin and repented.
Any android with a 32GB MicroSD slot will be enough. Then just use the Vorbis (aoTuBv 6.03 2014) audio codec to encode your audio to 192kbps if you are normal or 384kbps if you are a mutant.
That will give you about 160 hours of 192kbps vorbis music and that would only fill 15GB of space, or 160 hours of 384kbps vorbis music and that would fill 30GB of space.
>no 1080p, I don't like that
You legitimately can't tell you fucking autist. I'm holding a Moto X (2013) and a Galaxy S4 side by side right this minute and the screens are the exact same quality.
Yify rips are less than 1GB for 720p. Encoding a 720p movie with 10-bit H264 to around 2GB would give you amazing quality. Don't forget that you are going to watch these movies on a small ass screen so some artifacts are acceptable.
Nigga are you serious, that's far from quality
Don't be a nigger anon, the moto G has 720p 294ppi density - the S4 has 1080p 441ppi density. You would have to be squinting and 1/2 inch away from the phone to be able to have a chance to see the difference. If you are a normal human being then you will have your phone 6-12 inches away from your face which will make it IMPOSSIBLE to see the resolution difference.
I would rather have 30 720p YIFY movies crammed into my 32GB microsd card rather than 2 1080p 99.999999% lossless rips. Don't be retarded, we are talking about phone storage here, we have to sacrifice something until 10-bit HEVC becomes popular.
Quad-core 2.5 GHz
>No MicroSD slot
God fucking dammit motoshit! You stupid fucking piece of moldy ebola infested shit, this would have been the poor-mans holy grail but you had to fuck it up. I am seriously suspecting that motoshit is just trolling us at this point.
How would you say it compares against a nexus 5? For some reason lollipop just isn't as good of an experience on it, and the moto x 2013 dev edition 32gb is $280 on amazon right now; I figure lollipop is better optimized for the moto line?
Is this really happening that soon? didn't the z3c just come out.
Anyone think the Moto X 2013 is a logical upgrade from 5s? I enjoy my 5s, just want to give android a try but I can't stand this huge phone trend.
I like the Z3C but it's a little more than I want to pay, Moto X 2013 can be had for under 250 new and unlocked.
Well on Android 4.4, with my Nook HD+, there's a lot of swapping and app backgrounding/suspending when I'm multitasking with only two or three apps. It's probably even worse with the MSM8226, as I think the OMAP4470 edges it out in performance.
