Would my AMD Phenom II X4 955 bottleneck a GTX 970?
i make music using ableton, i might use protools soon, but for now i'm using ableton on a pc laptop. i want to buy a a new computer and i'm stuck on either a 3507K and a FX 8350. what do you think /g/?
Depends on the game and resolution. At 1080p and above, a top of the line i7 would net you like an extra 5-10 frames a second. But if it's already over 60, who cares (fuck off 144/ 120 fps people).
On the other hand, you really need to look for reviews that test the MINIMUM fps, because that might be much worse.
Okay, so I just built a new PC with an H97m as the motherboard, and I got an SSD to use for the OS, software, and a couple of games.
Now no matter what settings I have tried in the BIOS, I cannot get the read and write speeds to go above 15 MB/s. I've made sure that I have the drivers installed and everything, but no matter what, it caps out at 15 MB/s.
Am I missing something? Should I return the drive?
Would it be worth upgrading to a an i5 4690k with a new MB or should I just upgrade my GPU and get a FX 8350?
I have a smallish budget for right now for tech deals at the moment.

Look at this site
specifically the 5 transitioning images they have going on on the top of the front page. I know how to use js to rotate images like that, but i can't figure out how they have made the little red fuse-like countdown that they have put above it, i tried inspecting the element and deleting stuff until i could find out what's going on and it seems to be happening in <div class="shell-container-content-main">, i can see the code changing right in front of me using a.active but can someone explain what they have done?
Only you can answer that.
If you want to play games at 4K 60FPS and don't mind spending the money to do it, then sure.
If you don't want to spend that much money, then don't.
Personally, even if I didn't mind spending the money I would wait. Unless you're going to drop 2-3K on a 4K monitor there aren't really any that are better than OK for TN panels out at the moment. When IPS 4K with minimal lag hit around $1000 it might be worthwhile
Can I ddos someone who has decent internet when i have shiternet? (5.8 mbps down, 0.4 mbps up) I was testing some shit with loic on a friend, and nothing was happening, and my internet fucked up instead of his.
What does program does /g/ recommend for converting video files to burn to a DVD?
I only have access to Windows at the moment
rather than a stupid question, I propose a stupid game.
For every hip trendy new startup you see, if their website uses bootstrap, you must take a drink.
Have 911 on speed dial and enjoy your night.
It's a very good exercise.
The basic idea is to download the JSON thread representation, parse it to find image names, and then download the images. For bonus points, you can do a MD5sum check on the downloaded files.
>will it bottleneck?
bro, a socket 775 intel is still faster (per core) than the TOPPEST AMD SHIT
the intel is 8 YEARS OLD AND ITS STILL FASTER THAN THE NEWEST 2014 AMD SHIT
what the fuck do you think?
that CPU isnt even worth recycling
AMD is the only desktop manufacturer of landfill garbage
It would in many more modern games. Even in Crysis 3 I was seeing 99% CPU usage on my old Phenom II in many areas. The string on shitty console ports recently would probably be even worse.
Of course it's a daemon. How is it supposed to know when it's time to do something, if it's not running at that time? What on earth does "run dynamically" mean?
Any distro is riceable if you know what you're doing. In general, distros that are meant to be easy to use are going to be a little more complicated to rice. Which distro you should start with depends on what you want from it. I never understood why people ask what distro to use first. Just pick one and try it. Then try something else. Try a bunch of stuff, and see what you like. It's free, it's not going to break your computer, and installing a distro takes like ten minutes.
So I was looking for my Gamecube Wavebird to play with Smash Bros Wii U. Found it but also found the battery compartment with these... beauties. Not sure what happened. I tried keeping it inside a well placed storage.
Here's the thing, though. I want to do this with multiple commands with different intervals, and if the command hasn't completed within the time interval I don't want it launched again. I was wondering if there were a clean way to do this.
Yeah, write a script to do so.
Cron is just a scheduler daemon and executes something at a specified time. Any logic or process dependency will have to be written in a script or program.
If you want something to just run on system startup and keep running then cron is not the tool to use which is why I suggested using rc.local.
I'm looking for a computer mic
Is this decent? I want a mic that picks up mainly my voice and not my mouse or keyboard clicks
I am trying to make my internet speed faster, and i am using a program called namebench that will automatically find for you, the best DNS server out there.
I used this program some time ago and now i decided to use it again to see if the results would change.
The only problem is that the picture related appears.
Does anyone of you know how can i change my router settings?
But this brings to me another question.
Is there another way to make my internet faster?
It used to be a beast, but now it is so pathetic that it can't even load 720p videos.
how do I close AvastUI.exe? I try to terminate it from Task Manager but it won't fucking let me, and there's no option to turn it off from the UI.
I have reason to believe that a recent update is making it eat all of my RAM, because normally when I had it running and really nothing else my machine would idle at >1GB, but now it idles in the 2GB area.
who the fuck made this software so anal-retentive about being terminated?
>DNS servers don't make your internet faster
If you have a reasonably fast internet connection, then a high-latency DNS server will make requests take significantly longer.
Yes, a good DNS server will "make your internet faster".
>Terrible framerate in general
>Hitching and stuttering throughout
I want a speaker or PMP small enough to fit in my pocket that does not sound like shit (Out of the pocket, of course) or expand to massive size to accomplish it.
Does something like this actually exist?
Preferably WITHOUT bluetooth faggotry, battery powered only nonsense, or annoyingly common sound deformities like nigger bass.
Is there a way to get Google Maps for Android to work with GPS only, as opposed to "high accuracy mode", which also uses network information? I can't seem to make it zero in on my location, and every time I try to do anything it tells me to turn "high accuracy" mode on and then doesn't do anything. There's no way that adding network information to GPS information could make it more accurate. This is clearly about data mining.
If there's no way to use Google maps with GPS location data only, is there a reasonable alternative?
After years of using Ovi Maps, I'm really surprised at how terrible Google Maps for Android is in general.
Is there anything bad about using an micro sd all the time like a hdd? I found pic related, would that be bad for installing games on that? like for instance the games would crash or something when the display turns off, because everything is shut down?
What happened to TrueCrypt? What are the alternatives?
Setting something like that up sounds like a lot of work, and it sounds needlessly complicated compared to just asking moot for a posters IP address.
>What happened to TrueCrypt?
Ive been recording psx, pc and ps2 gameplay with fraps for a little while now and ive notived the abysmal file sizes the videos become (recorded in 720p with 60fps)
Ive figured i use video compression to reduce the file to a minimum. I have installed VirtualDub and watched a tutorial how to compress the video.
my question: which video codec to use for compression? it should be configurable in virtualdub
Just download x264, Nero AAC codec and MP4 box and follow this:
Not sure if this is the right place but I suppose Automata theory could relate to /g/.
Can right-regular grammar contain non-terminal to non-terminal transitions, e.g. A -> B rather than a terminal followed by a nonterminal e.g A-> aB ?
Wouldn't your own cum dry out in the cum pocket ?
