Reminder that you're actively destroying the internet and free content
Good job assholes.
Eat a dick you fucking faggot. Ads track you as you browse other websites, occupy more space on the screen than the content you're trying to view, and more often than not gets malware on peoples computers. Adblock is a fucking godsend.
I know quite a few websites that have nice good looking ads that doesn't bother you, like here on 4chan, on which I have my AdBlock disabled.
But most of the sites are just horrible, with porn popups, reddirects and cumshot banners taking up half of the page.
No thank you.
I'm whiling to donate or have paid only access to the websites I visit rather than seeing this shit.
I also like ABP because I can block images. Now my /g/ browsing is fat free.
I'm good with shit content being gone. I'd rather pay for real quality content, as back in the day when people voted with their wallet on what newspaper or book to read.
Digital Fucking Darwinism, survival of the fittest
if only adds where less intrusive
can't even surf the web without being blocked by adds
adds want to block me, I block adds
they where the first to declare war
plus, flash adds are one of the major security breach on the web (with java and acrobat reader), even on non-malwares-friendly websites
deontology goes in both ways and I'll be happy to unblock adds if they don't act gressively and stop my surfing
they killed themself
I'm one of the good guys then? Good to know. Fuck those ABP/ABE plebs.
There was lots of free content without ads long before Adblock became a thing.
So obviously, adblocking isn't hurting anything worthwhile.
The only thing adblocking hurts is content creators who think using the Internet constitutes an actual job.
>Fuck of moot I have trillions of horizontal pixels
Nobody uses flexible-width layouts because of tablets, phones, and laptops with shit-tier resolutions. Everything must be 1024 pixels wide because we're still stuck with 1990s screen resolutions.
ReqPol doesn't block everything by default, it simply doesn't allow anything by default. There's a difference. I'm not talking about not putting the ad domain on a whitelist, i'm talking about outright putting it on the blacklist.
This is done in a much easier way on ReqPol continued, if you're using the old one that's on FF's addon website, you should upgrade
This is straight-up retarded.
Websites are ultimately designed, coded, and maintained by humans, who use their time and energy to do so.
Among other things, they also have to live lives, which costs money. Why punish them for your disagreement with how our economy is organized?
Just the fact that useless fucking faggot OP is mad makes it ALL worth it
>Websites are ultimately designed, coded, and maintained by humans, who use their time and energy to do so.
>Among other things, they also have to live lives, which costs money.
You imply that all work has monetary value and that these humans are entitled to payment just because they make a luxury item.
I don't expect to get paid every time I clean my house.
I don't care. Ads are annoying and make already shit looking websites even more shit. Besides there have and always will be freetards like myself who host/maintain sites for free.
If you want to make money on web you should create something people are willing to pay for. For example Github doesn't have ads but they sure make money.
> mfw there actually exists people who browse the web without adblock
I love watching /g/tards try to justify fucking developers out of money out of money that they deserve. You sure don't mind consuming the content, do you? But when you're asked to give back, you come up with all kinds of fucktarded logic so you don't have to acknowledge that you're really just a selfish prick.
Take, take, take, pirate, consume, watch, listen, play, enjoy, but don't ever give, even when giving is as simple as having the content of your page pushed down an inch:
Was crudely attempting to create sympathy for corporations a part of your plan?
AD BLOCK EDGE is better.
I just don't care.
Fuck your judaism. Fuck the mental cancer that is advertising. Fuck your malwate.
I keep all ads blocked, no exceptions. I block all social media shit, and I block messages asking me to disable adblock.
>Reminder that you're actively destroying the internet and free content
If it were free content I wouldn't:
- have to pay for my electricity
- have had to pay for my laptop
- have to pay for the rent to my apartment which comes with 'free Internet service'
and so on.
I mean really, think before you post, dickhead.
I feel like the two most common ads there are the one you mentioned and also that extremely crappy Bitcoin ad with the wizard.
Until sites stop having annoying ass pop up screens, flash videos that you can't pause or stop and other types of bullshit that gets in your way no I won't stop using adblock.
Ironically enough the only type of ads I don't view as intrusive are 4chins ads, but ads on any other site? Fuck them
The thing with vertical ads is that you only see them at the beginning and end. Most of the time, they aren't even visible on the screen... this is better than them being horizontally laid out and always visible.
The problem with web content is that there's no contract. When I go to a website why should I assume that I must sit through ads that I may not want to see?
If I go to a site and the site says "We can afford to provide content by running simple text and image ads, you must allow these ads to see the content"
I'll more than likely allow it. I've *agreed* to be shown ads in exchange for content.
But when some site shoves video ads in my face that constantly download shit in the background (these days the worst offenders are video ads that will *constantly* stream in on a site) in exchange for content, I don't think thats a fair trade.
If you don't want me to block ads, block your content so that I can agree to the terms of said content... or deal with adblock and stop whining.
That's because of EU law. Notice that its a recent development and asking for cookie permissions haven't been around forever
Google needs to get their shit together and stop allowing payed advertisements for shitty fake installer programs that mask real tools.
Until then Adblock will be installed on every last one of my clients pcs.
I only use adblock for shitty websites. For example, I'd never consider turning it off for a website that has a "list" where you have to go through 13 different pages to see the entire "top ten whatever".
Once I've downloaded a file onto my computer, I'll display it however I want.
i hear on average in first world countries ~25% use ABP or others like it. and on average costs site owners $.5million
Their websites should be a vehicle for them to make money, but it shouldn't be the way they make money. That would be as retarded as the majority of cars having ads on them so they can make money while people drive them on the way to work. No, the car is just a vehicle used for the worker to make money by getting him to work. In the same way, a website can be used to sell a product or ask for a donation. If it's used for something that doesn't make money then clearly the website had no monetary value. I shouldn't be forced to see your shitty ads.
>live in california
>mandatory water restrictions
>luckily they are never enforced
fuck the enviroment
>6 megs of ads
>guilt-tripping 10-20 % of users that use ADBlock*
>low quality content
>huge ass watermarks on photos
>I'LL SUE, IF YOU STEAL
>inaccuracies in text
>zero proof reading
gee OP, i really don't know why people use Ad-block
Fuck your "free content"
It's worse than worthless. It's actively a negative impact on culture and society.
good to know that I'm the one destroying the internet
and not, you know, the people that relentlessly try to monetize free content by diluting it with ads
or the people that use ads as a way to track my activity without my permission
>fucking developers out of money out of money that they deserve.
Why do they deserve it? Why are they entitled to it?
The fact is, if you have something actually worth money that you want to share, you wouldn't be sharing it for ad revenue in the first place. You'd be sharing it for more money in some other way.
Being reliant on ad revenue is the lowest form of revenue possible on the Internet and I have absolutely no pity for anyone who cries that they aren't being paid for doing something so pitiful.
Fucking these. If the standards for ads were higher, I wouldn't care, but some are absolutely fucking terrible and only exist to deceive people into clicking a fake link and installing malware, even on popular websites. Fuck that.
