Hello, I'm plannig on setting up a usb dead drop in my area but have a question:
Is it possible to make the usb drive automatically duplicate any files that are put on it and store them in an encrypted folder?
Because if I ever come back to it one day I could open the encrypted file and see what's been on it and that would fucking cool.
Found a dead drop in a truck stop bathroom last year.
Nothing but child pornography, 32 gb of it
called the police.
Three months later big news report about a 3 month investigation netting a whole bunch of truckers.
what if somebody falls and smashes into the wall with such an usb thing sticking out of it. those things are sharp. they can kill
also what if it rains and it very windy and water gets inside
also how do you go about doing that. youre basically demolishing property
>what if somebody falls and smashes into the wall with such an usb thing sticking out of it. those things are sharp. they can kill
Just in: Local man dies from zip disquette full of child pornography glued to wall
Sorry for the stupid question, but whats an USB dead drop good for?
My paranoia senses are tingeling and tell me someone will eventually drop illegal shit.
>also what if it rains and it very windy and water gets insid
It's possible, but I doubt enough rain would get inside to cause any damage especially if it's somewhere with a good roof overhang.
>set up one in my area
how did you go about doing it? go out at night, get some concrete out of a wall, out an usb stick along with fresh cement in the hole and leave? where do you get fresh cement like that, on the go. what if somebody sees you digging a hole into a public wall
Alright thanks. I thought people who passed by were supposed to drop random stuff like a picture of a dog, rips or custom made music files or shit like this, basically like an anonymous file sharing website.
And porn. Lots of porn. My college block porn streaming website and other illegal torrent sites, so some of the dudes set up dead drops around the college ground to share porn.
There are currently several 0days for Windows where a USB, once inserted, allows for RCE.
If i know this, someone else does, and wants you to plug your shit into a shady ass spot with a fucking USB sticking out of it you dumb sons of bitches.
Holy fuck you guys are complete idiots.
>The embedded microcontroller is typically a heavily modified 8051 or ARM CPU. In modern implementations, the microcontroller will approach 100 MHz performance levels, and also have several hardware accelerators on-die.
yeah on some knockoff, where they don't bother with security. so using that would be pointless when you could just setup a microntroller to act like a keyboard via the usb connection.
>Is it possible to make the usb drive automatically duplicate any files that are put on it and store them in an encrypted folder?
Yes, embed your own microchip and program it to do that.
every usb drive has a tiny microcontroller built in that manages the bad sectors, there is a big presentation somewhere about some guys who flashed a few random sticks with custom firmware that duplicated data and moved it to unallocated sectors.
Dead drops are beyond retarded. I imagine the idea was thought up by moron hipsters who don't know shit about computers.
>someone (like the feds) finds you dead drop
>puts an infected file on it
>rootkits your shit
>cops just start watching the fucking area
>see everyone who uses it
>someone comes along
>hits it with any heavy object
>dead drop is now useless
Just encrypt your shit and either exchange it in person or over the internet.
Why don't these people building public USBs just hook them on then end of this kind of wire?
All I can imagine with those deals on the brick wall is that it gets snapped off by someone on day one.
>There is no legitimate purpose for this. People will just put CP and gore and other depraved shit on it
You sound confused. While those things are illegal they sound legit as fuck.
