How come frontend/web developers get no respect from other programmers who consider themselves 'real software engineers' because they're using stuff like C/C++ and working on complex physics engines, 3D rendering systems, embedded circuits, etc?
Please do not equate front-end developers with web developers. Web developer is an umbrella term that covers a wide variety of things.
I did web development in my old job in C++ doing lightweight image and video processing, heavy file operations, full-text search in image XMP/IPTC metadata, writing background services etc.
>How come frontend/web developers get no respect?
Because that's an easy task that even a monkey could perform after a short training.
For a good indicator if a task is easy, look at the % of women doing it.
>How come frontend/web developers get no respect from other programmers who consider themselves 'real software engineers'
because those real software engineers are using stuff like C/C++ and working on complex physics engines, 3D rendering systems and embedded circuits.
I would say when someone is standing in there underwear for no reason other than to show off there sexual traits in a completely non sexual setting, they shouldn't be taken seriously.
If that were a dude in his underpants it would also be silly.
>but men can dress casually at work!
I love this excuse.
If more women came to work in jeans and a t-shirt there would be zero issues.
To dress casually is one thing. To dress like you're headed to the beach is completely different.
But App Academy trains people to be Web Developers for free and:
>98% of our graduates have offers or are working in tech jobs. In 2014, SF graduates received an average salary of $105,000; in 2014, NY graduates received an average salary of $89,000.
No one pays a useless person that kind of salary.
can you really blame people for being replaced by machines? It's not their fault that the computer makes the job easy. WHat kind of tard takes pride in having a job that could kill him?
>I'm a mom, mentor, coder, hacker, strategist, and change agent.
Tech is interesting with the titles they come up with
>tech info evangelist
>awesome people support jedi
>happy social media enthusiast
>actually wanting nudity in a workplace
You're just as bad as the writer of that one buzzfeed article saying that 3 piece suits are oppressive because "the upper echelon elite use it to keep working underlings in line"
There is a time and a place for sexual freedom. Expressing it at work is not only childish, but disgusting.
I agree but if it's a hot piece of ass I am not complaining, livens up the workplace
>You're just as bad as the writer of that one buzzfeed article saying that 3 piece suits are oppressive because "the upper echelon elite use it to keep working underlings in line"
I said nothing of the sort
>Expressing it at work is not only childish, but disgusting.
Well not really, but this rather pointless photoshoot was just that, a photoshoot.
Not the work place
I'd smash her stack if yannowaddimean
She looks kinda like smug Pepe or whatever...
Since this thread has derailed into "why female developers get no respect" I'll chime in.
I work in electronics recycling, and there is a new woman working on our website. I've yet to see any of her work yet, but I have faith that she will get the job done. However, I've met plenty of other female developers in the past that can't and they've all had one thing in common, at least to me: they have an irrational fear of competition while simultaneously have an equally irrational impulse to always be right.
A prime example being that there was one woman I met while doing simple front-end work to present an eula to customers.
I essentially wrote something quick that didn't open a popup. She become aggressive after I suggested an alternative to her, but instead of defending her solution and saying it was better, she said "both are equally effective, but I suggested mine first." Needless to say mine was used instead. She left a few weeks later to start her own business.
It's not being threatened, it's laughable. What would you think if you saw men in their underwear trying to present themselves as serious people?
They're in their fucking underwear. The times when you see a woman in their underwear is when you're about to wreck her vagina.
it's acceptable to be fat and show off your fat disgusting body now
in any other time in history we would have shamed these people into exercising and being healthy
it's truly a terrible time to be alive
>What would you think if you saw men in their underwear trying to present themselves as serious people?
Men and women are different, dumbass.
>lol why do women put on make-up? if men did it'd be laughable
No work environment needs a woman who is more focused on her body and social aspects of her life instead of doing actual work.
I work with such a woman who acts like this and it drives me and everyone else I work with up the wall. Women who act like this are cancer and create toxic environments.
It's similar to be who want to fight racism while perpetuating a stereotype, it's fucking retarded
> technology needs women
Why? Why the verb "to need"? Why would we "need" them. Unlike other professions with a ~0.5 women ratio, the engineering sector is pretty healthy and has always been.
>mfw women desperately trying to infiltrate the tech sector in bulk to stop the developments that will render women obsolete
I agreed to everything but:
>Giving women jobs has ruined the economy.
Well, yeah, no. It's perfectly fine to have women in places where people just shuts the fuck up (i.e. manual jobs and the like).
It does makes the ambient in other sectors way more shitty, however.
Ah sorry, I didn't know men were only good at playing vidyae because men are manchlidren, no exceptions. Wymyn are here to save us.
brb, I'm checking my privileges and tipping my fedora.
It's impossible to raise a family on a single income anymore. They've made it so we all have to work in order to survive, instead of having a sole breadwinner and a wife at home.
As it should be.
>there became too many people looking for not enough jobs
Jobs are not a fixed resource, but a dynamic one. The more people have works, the more they consume, the more the market expands, the more jobs are available. The less people have jobs...
So no, it was not a problem of there being women or not.
>It's very possible, but you'll have to lower your life standards, that's for sure.
Exactly. At every level of society except the very top, people tend to spend just as much as they have, whether it's minimum wage or 8 times as much.
So you can't refute it really, you can just insult.
In the current market of jobs that are available, if all women stopped looking for work, the jobs that exist would not cease to exist.
There would be more jobs available for the people who don't have them.
I wasn't him, but I do agree with him. You're stupid at economics. If all women stopped to work, they'd stop both to produce and to earn money, they'd consume much less, so the market would shrink, and the percentage of jobs would be the same.
What part? The part where women don't earn money if they don't work, the part where they consume less if they have less money, or the part where market shrinks as the number of customers decreases?
