You people talk about those dinosaur laptops all the time, and I totally believe they have a nicer keyboard and aspect ratio than other laptops, but has any of you ever taken his thinkpad outside the basement? Like disconnected it from the charger and took it to class?
- did people laugh?
- do you have a hernia now?
- did it last longer than 3 minutes without power?
3rd grade. took a laptop from the early to mid 1990's to 3rd grade class, in ~2002 or so. I cringe at the memories
I cringe at alot of my memories. I'm basically stuck in 2009-2010 right now anyway the way i use computers. Still have a desktop pc, it's home base. i'm really pathetic.
Yes, I take notes on my x300.
>Did people laugh
No, people tend to not care about that kind of shit past high school.
>Do you have a hernia now
No, it's pretty light
>Did it last longer than 3 minutes
Try 6 hours
back then these were probably still the shit.
It's just that it's 2015 and people still drag these 2005 laptops to class
did you carry some generator in your thinkpad trolly?
>actually carry around a second battery
I thought that it was a meme, is it because the charger is basically some small power plant?
No, I'm just not some hopeless nerd and try to help you.
>from the charger and took it to class?
I take it to class daily.
>- did people laugh?
No, I get complimented on it on a regular basis. I had a couple people try to buy it off of me.
>- do you have a hernia now?
It only weighs 4.9lbs. If you can't lift that with one hand, you should consider suicide.
>- did it last longer than 3 minutes without power?
I get about four hours out of it.
>No,they asked me if it was powerful and shit.
Get with the time, old men. Everyone has moved on to elitebooks now.
>I don't like that people make rational, informed decision on their behalf and use products that I don't like, so I'll try to make myself feel better by trolling them, making fun of the appearance of their gadgets and diminishing their intelligence
except for whenever someone dares to critize thinkpads you go all
>fuck off to starbucks thinkpad4life stupid applefag
While I'm just trying to make a little sense, and since normal reasoning doesn't work I can at least be confronting.
yeah it's powerful, i mainly use it for browsing and shit so maybe i'm getting a lower-tier chinkpad for that, and save the other one for gaymen and stuff
>talking with like-minded people
this never got anyone anywhere.
"hey u guys u also think 'product X' is the best of all time and we should never, ever change?
great, let's never change!!!'
cognitive dissonance over what?
so you're saying it's better to circlejerk with like-minded people than be critical?
Do you also discuss Apple superiority at your local starbucks?
Working for two companies? Receive two elite books!
hey bruh, i've been thinking on getting a elitebook to replace my thinkpad, how are they?
yes people laughed, and they were all asking what the fuck was "that red dot in the middle of the keyboard", still they found it pretty sexy
yes, I study maths so I don't need to use it much, I only take it out during my english classes (2 hours a week).
I go to uni 4 times a week and work from mon-fri and i do take my t420 erry day im going to class, i did replaced the backup battery it had for an ssd so it's actually pretty light. I walk 1km to take the bus downtown, then i walk another km to work, after work i take the train and then one bus to get to my uni, then, i take 2 buses to get home. There are other people who have thinkpads and others hace macbooks and whatnot. i feel superior/awesome using the fingerprint scanner to unlock my computer
well actually my main problem with the thinkpad isn't it's weight, it's more the size.
I actually mean the size. People here talk about bloated programs all the time yet a laptop that's 4 times thicker than anything else suddenly isn't a problem.
This. Got a 14" Elitebook 8440p myself, 120GB SSD and 1TB hdd and 6G of ram and I fucking love it. Also have a 15" Thinkpad t510i but i'm going to give that one to my girlfriend.
Late reply, was out to lunch.
Solid build quality, the dock is inexpensive and convenient. I got one with a number pad from one company, and one without from another. The small one doesn't have a serial port though.
If recommend them
