>decide to try back linux
>try and post a reaction image
>suddenly I remember this
>implying I want a de that looks like a toy
What do you mean ? You can drag'n'drop your animu reaction pictures on the file select tab.
It's much faster and more convenient than browsing your images folder in a tiny window.
>I don't know how to use keyboard shortcuts
>I can't keep bookmarks on my file manager
>I have a 800x600 workspace and a whooping WPM score of 50
>bookmarks on my file manager
look at that hipster
>You can drag'n'drop your animu reaction pictures on the file select tab
And you drag them from your ass or what?
thats just you bruv.
>using unity with gtk
You really have learned some shitty ways to "work" with Linux.
I was told that Linux was extremely customizable, yet I can't customize it to get a file picker with thumbnails? What's your excuse for that?
>You really have learned some shitty ways to "work" with Linux.
What part of "this is coming from a Windows user" didn't you get ?
And yeah, I can actually find solutions to my problems. Or adjust.
>I was told that Linux was extremely customizable
You mean like picking a different DE ? One that might suit your need ?
>yet I can't customize it to get a file picker with thumbnails
You can. Open source and shit.
>browsing with File manager opened all the time is how to use your computer
Leenux-cretin strikes again
>I was told that Linux was extremely customizable, yet I can't customize it to get a file picker with thumbnails?
Yes you can, the code is right there for you do change however you like. If you want a file picker with thumbnails then just do it, no one is stopping you.
>open your epic_reaection_faecs folder
>choose one and ctrl + c it
>go to 4chan
>click on Browse
>click on that "pen"
>ctrl + v
Gezz that was hard, anon.
It's probably shitty but on loonix the file manager doesn't freeze and thumbnails are loaded instantly.
Sorry if I don't like being jew'd but I won't buy more hardware just to post on 4chan on windows if loonix can do it better with less resources.
why isn't the file picker an external program that all applications call?
That would make it a lot easier if they all called the same program and you could just choose the correct one and the correct version of that.
Is there some weird feature that they need other than open a menu to pick a file?
Even win 98 looked better than present day loonix
there is no reason this wouldn't be cached though.
I would just love that I could pin a folder in one program and then it would be pinned in every program.
Where should it be done though? by replacing the api call in the qt and gtk library?
>I would just love that I could pin a folder in one program and then it would be pinned in every program.
Like in XP? Any program that uses the Windows provided file picker instead of implementing its own shitty one gets this.
>Where should it be done though? by replacing the api call in the qt and gtk library?
Yes, but there are still some apps that implement their own dumb or 'custom' file picker because they want dome extra checkbox or something.
what part of "muh minimalism" you don't understand?
>professional designers vs autistic neckbeards with zero creativity
hmm tough choice
>mfw professional designers made this
Indeed. Linux "designers" have tried to replicate this for so many years, but even the ones which are supposed to shamelessly copy it (like Windows XP mode in Tails) would not even convince a 4 year old child.
I'm sure you know better than professional graphics designers
I installed firefox-kde on kubuntu 15.05 beta.
>Professional doesn't mean they're good at what they do, just means they're paid for it
In this case it's also likely they have an education so they know about things like visual identity, consistency etc.
As for you ad hominem, that's not surprising coming from a NEET who just spouts fischer price over and over
>le ebin shill maymay
Why isn't this fixed yet? I mean people have been complaining about this for years, but in all that time no one made a better file picker? Really? Or do the GTK devs find it unnecessary like so much other stuff they removed with gnome 3?
I honestly can't understand it.
>implying I'm that anon
>it's also likely they have an education
is false, and even if it were true, it doesn't matter since it's just a probability. It's like claiming someone cannot possibly have won the lottery because the probability is so low.
Someone who is professional is hired by an HR department, meaning there's a higher chance they are more skilled at ass-licking than possessing any real skills, especially anti-ass-licking skills like practical design informed by scientific studies of user behavior.
Perhaps, and I know this is going to disappoint you and your self absorbed little world, the devs really didn't see posting maymays on teh fourchins quicker as a top priority. These people work hard without alot of support so they tackle the issues that matter first. Also kill yourself.
nope, just tried.
but I use appchan X so I have "post url picture" as an option already.
Why do you feel like you deserve to have other people add features for you, for free? Go back to sucking on MICROS~1's titties, we don't need you here in FOSS.
FOSS is a meritocracy. If you can contribute, then you have value as a person. If all you can do is whine, go pay someone else to listen to your whining.
What about 99% of normies uploading shit to Facebook, attaching shit to emails. Most of that is going to be either word docs or photos, and you're telling me it's better to use names as the primary identifier for these? DSCF002010.jpg is a real distinguishable name, amirite?
>all this hostility
Sorry, I probably worded my post a bit wrong.
What I was trying to say was why no one of the people whining commited a better file picker, not the gtk devs. That last part was just a thought that might explain why the file picker is still in the same state, assuming people have commited fixes for it.
>assuming people have commited fixes for it.
I don't think anyone has. I'm sure there are some whiners, but most people are okay with using a file manager, because that's what a file manager is for.
>Add a file manager to every app
>Add a gallery browser to every app
>Add email client to every app
>Add Twitter/Facebook support to every app
That's how you end up with shitty software.
Linux is and never will be for normies.I would hope you'd have learned this by now. Mobile devices have destroyed all hope for a future in computing regardless of the fact it was made by MS,Mac, or Linux.
