Why do they do that? Disgusting.
To look thiner, like the new iMacs.
I think he's talking about the tapered edge, how it curves inward to a point.
Yeah it's to make it look thinner than it actually is. Not sure why thinness is so important, I think a bit of thickness is actually good for deeper keyboard and more ports.
Are you referring to the tapered edge? I hate it too.
It's so disgusting, it makes me puke everytime I see one of those.
I made a picture to further elaborate what I'm talking about.
I have a T400, but it's just too heavy and 6 hours of battery life on Arch aren't enough for me.
I looked for a new laptop on amazon, but after seeing this, I'm seriously considering a Macbook.
I think the overall squareness makes up for it.
This. You either get a MacBook to use OS X or you get something else.
Everyone rants about the trackpad (oh, it's so smooth like it's predicting my movements before I make them!), but try using another OS with it. Turns into a spastic retard. Asus or Dell XPS isn't too bad as an alternative.
what about the edges around the screen
Not just the trackpad, the whole system feels sluggish, not to talk of the battery life.
A lot of shit can be said about Apple, but they got their hardware optimisation well for their laptops.
Since men have suffered from overheating testes as a direct consequence of using them on their laps. This is the reason why manufacturers prefer to use the notebook nomenclature - do not use these machines on your lap if you value your sperm to be fertile.
microsoft once designed a laptop with no edges
but they realized it was a logistical nightmare during the prototyping phase
Not him, but unless you're a cripple, you're really not going to have any issue whatsoever in picking up any modern laptop, edge or not.
Personally I'd go for a more square design any day.
