I've bought expensive phones because 1. that way they're good 2. because I tend to use my phones until they break and buying a good one is the best futureproofness you can get also my phablet replaces the need to carry around a laptop for short travel, which I'm willing to pay extra for
most of everything could be done with any 200-300 dollar smartphone but buying a big fat phablet makes it all better.
I'd probably just buy a china phone if I was buying a new one now, though, granted I'd miss some of the premium things you get by buying expensive. I wasn't aware of any of those options existing (maybe the better ones didn't yet) when I got my Note 3.

>>46815564 Play shitty games with slightly better graphics, or emulate old games. That's about all mine is good for, and aside from emulators I'd rather game on my Vita since it actually has games that are not being designed around first generation iPhones.

I also play games and or watch movies when im on the train but thats not technically useful other than passing the time when i would otherwise be doing nothing.
oh and i can shitpost on /g/
If you want a smart phone get one, if you dont, dont. i was quite late to the game with them, got my first only 2 years ago, its a fantastic device though and has meant that time that would otherwise have been wasted is now put to use, keeping up with the news, doing a little research when i would otherwise be doing nothing now means that i dont have to do those things when im sat at my actual PC and can instead focus on being more productive.
>>46815995 the point is that you have all those things in 1 device in your pocket, who wants to carry a ruck sack around full of all that crap...and who wants to drag a hooker around all day just to relieve some tension now and then, its about convience, as for social media vs real life, i use facebook to keep in touch with a lot of people i would otherwise hear from very little, its nice to have closed the distance between old friends.
>>46816082 you get what you pay for, i have an M8, i experience no lag, the screen is fantastic, the battery life will get me through a day of heavy use and it feels like a premium device, my sistert has some cheap ass no brand android and everything lags, the camera is garbage, sound quality is awful, it lags when playing video and it feels as crappy as it is.
Well if everyone played the same game and also left their Bluetooth on, that sense thingy can work, so if you walk past a hottie in the club and both your phones notification glows, u know you are in for a fuck.
>>46815955 Pretty much what this anon said. I do use that stylus a lot I actually got rid of my laptop altogether for all of daily task. Yes, no physical keyboard is retarded but I do not work in IT so it is actually less of pain in the ass to just answer messages from phone rather than move my lazy body to the PC.
Also, media consumption. Yes, including movies. At home, via MHL.
Some games, like Sorcery or Bioware remakes are also The Right Way of playing for me, thou I admit, a tablet might have been better suited for that.
>>46815995 In your pocket. Sure. >>46816039 Well, I do love my Vita but there is one little problem for me - I do not carry it with me all the way. I do however carry my smartphone everywhere.
>>46816082 I, for one, enjoy that high resolution screen. No squinting at it is also a great plus. Also, stylus.
>>46816102 Maybe he wears cargo pants or is one of those rare humans that actually own those things and use them on daily basis. For such of person I can see why expensive smartphone has no appeal.
>>46816413 but who actually watches a full length movie on their phone? A youtube clip is too long to watch when I can just get out of bed and sit at my computer and get a better experience. And I won't watch a movie at work.
>>46815564 When asked something I no longer need to reply "I don't know.", or "That will require time to research." like some stone age primitive. When Someone states something which I believe to be factually inaccurate I can actually verify who was correct immediately. I can get a second opinion or look up other options on damn near anything at any time, all in about the same formfactor as my wallet. Oh and it may replace that one day too.
>>46815564 Typical day starts with the phone as an alarm. Pretty sure that's standards stuff. I use it for music on my way into work, while also checking the database to see what's on the plan for the day. I get to work, double check the plans with the logistics administrator. Can't believe he got to choose his own title but that's beside the point. Then I usually get the phone number of a real estate agent and call them before going to them to collect keys. My colleague and I will then fill the car with furniture specified in the PDF in our database. We'll put the furniture into an apartment and make it look all nice like. This bit will confuse most /g/entoomen. There is a large chance that I will need to take pictures of it with my phone and send them to the customer, having a Lumia 930 is a huge advantage here. Repeat that a further two times and you have my typical work day. I will then get home and relax on the couch. I don't have TV so I rely on my phone for music while I do something more productive like bake a cake. Later on, I will probably skype my girlfriend who lives in a different country. We'll talk about he moving in with me, again. My battery will probably hit 20% at this point but I'm quite happy with that, it's a damn sight more than my iphone 5 used to last.
Tl;dr muh battery life muh camera muh quad core butter smooth database app
>>46816475 I'll watch movies and shows between classes, on the bus or train, and on road trips. I don't have a laptop, so my phone does everything I would use one for. Example: I'm waiting for my next class to start in two hours, so I'm going to watch a movie and study instead of bussing home and then immediately turning around to come back.
