Can we get a tech buyers remorse thread?
I was recommended to get this over an iPad.
> Shit battery life
> Terrible speakers
> STILL no optimization for tablets. It's like I was using a giant, laggier Nexus 4/5
> Android devs STILL don't give a fuck about making tablet-centric apps. Even Google's first party apps aren't tablet-ready.
> Lollipop is fucking terrible on it; volume button functionality broken
This was the biggest regret of my life. From carrier to phone I hated everything.
>Shitty custom rom support and no kitkat until last year when Lollipop was already out
>Kitkat out of the box, 6 hours onscreen time, pretty good for the price and possible update to lollipop
So far happy with this phone, might repair my Optimus G because better performance tho
Apart from the mediocre battery life I can't complain about the N5. It's not that interesting but at the time it was the cheapest high end android phone, and considering how shit my previous phone was it was a huge improvement.
Speaking of buyers remorse though,
That thing was crap. Hardly any storage space, the screen was shit and the thing was slow as fuck at anything other than the stock apps. Constantly 'resuming' apps, and the third party ones would almost never get updated.
>inb4 muh windows phone runs well on even a potato
>on any other network, note 4 is king
IF YOU CARE ABOUT HAVING AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER THEN AVOID AT&T AND VERIZON.
My AT&T version of the Note 3 still doesn't have its bootloader unlocked, which means no Cyanogenmod whatsoever, and 3rd-party ROM development is basically dead (though should pick back up once AT&T decides to push the Lollipop update.)
Avoid AT&T and Verizon phones at all costs.
AT&Tfags should buy T-Mobile phones from now on. Their bootloaders get unlocked fairly quickly and the 4G bands from the phones are inter-compatible with AT&T's network.
Verizonfags IDK. Switch carriers.
The Nexus 5 fucking rules. It's cheap as fuck, is powerful enough, looks great, the display is really good, wireless charging is cool and it's extremely customizable.
Battery life is very average to bad though. I'm lucky to get 3 hours of SOC which I guess isn't too bad.
Fuck the Nexus 6.
>6950 mod got fucking fried and almost burnt the mobo
>Bought Asus 750ti for replacement fast
>It came, it works like a charm, but the onboard audio is fucked
>Bought some cheap Diamond sound card on Best Buy
>Months later 960 was released
I love my 2013 Nexus 7, can fit it in my back jean pocket, I get 30 hours/6 hours SOT. The screen is so nice on it, I even prefer it to my G3's 2k screen.
Lollipop runs pretty damn smooth for me, I will admit I use it for pretty basic stuff though, mostly netflix.
I'm on VZW with a family plan. I'm due for an upgrade this month and I'm still planning to go with a Note 4.
What are the chances the dev scene will hack its way around the locked bootloader thing?
I've never used CFW on a phone but I'd like to have the option.
wasted my money on libreshit in a fit of loonix stupidity and now it sits around gathering dust
>never go full freetard
This piece of shit has given e nothing but problems.
- Terrible call quality
- Shit gps reception
- head jack crapped out
i had this for a while and experienced none of these problems. the screen did get destroyed after i slammed it against my table though. that sucked. and the radio or apn settings were fucked up so i couldnt receive mms messages
text from my ex. i uh, developed anger issues during my relationship with them. funny that it took a busted phone screen for me to figure that out. im not at all a physically violent person so it was weird seeing myself do that.
This piece of shit.
Performance was great, but ASUS fucked up the cooler design so that the VRAM chips didn't get cooled adequately, so there was a lot of artifacting going on after a while in every game, without fail.
>tfw replaced it with a 970
This shit infuriates me
2GB ram, four fucking cores, and still fucking lags. They've had so many tries to get it right, and they're still fucking up. A phone shouldn't need laptop specs, and they think throwing more ram and cores will solve it.
Please don't tell me this is the case with every android phone
I used the fuck out of mine. What're you talking about
>tfw college student
My buyers remorse is this Samsung S5, but mostly only because it doesn't have optimal Image Stabilization. I've got a neurological disorder which causes my hands to shake so taking pictures on this thing is 100% bull shit.
I got a free nexus 7. Worst tablet I ever used. My first gen iPad mini was amazing despite its problems that made me sell it after a month. The genius bar needs to stop hiring niggers.
bad idea m8. G3 is the best on verizon by a long shot
i got mine for free from verizon in feb, but you can still get it for cheaper than the onem8 and the N4 on amazon.
I'm "okay" with mine. And every time I almost drop it or knock it off something on accident, I think I take extra milliseconds to debate saving the fucker. Battery life is numero uno on the bummer list here. Thinking I'd be happier in Sony Z3 pastures. Someone say something.
Yeah, fuck samsung. Although why have I spent 48 pointing and laughing at the S6 without a removable battery or SD when I own a Nexus 5?
I'm using one right now, loaded it up with crunchbang.
As for the thread, Samsung Galaxy Stellar. It's a nice phone if you need to only do basic stuff, but there's pretty much NO way to root it.
nexus 5 is the shiznit
tfw $400 for brand new unlocked! 4-core 2 ghz 32gb 1080p phone with OIS and updates
i am NOT on lollipop tho cause it rapes n5 battery life. saw what happened to my buddy who has one and I noped the fuck out of there on 3 hr screen on. currently getting around 4-4 1/2 hrs sot
I was bored as shit and 'updated' to it. Disgusting green-blue mixed with white for a theme you can't change easily, now my phone keeps killing itself because this darker theme I tried to add destroyed it, battery life destroyed.
Agree on most points, I also sat on it and cracked screen. Now with most touch devices this would suck but it would still work, nope, it completely shits itself and stops working at all.
Verizon is literally the only carrier that serves my area with 4G so I don't have much of a choice. But I'm still trying to decide between the Galaxy Note 4, Google Nexus 6, or the iPhone 6 Plus. But I'm so scared of buyers remorse.
I'm pretty satisfied overall with my nexus 5. Battery life and the camera suck, but you can't buy a smartphone with good enough battery life and I don't care about the camera as long as it's good enough to take pictures of miscellaneous text and ip video chat, which phones could do 8 years ago.
/g/ likes the OnePlus One and LG G2/G3. Nexus 6 is expensive but capable. Moto G isn't good at anything besides having decent build quality and display but it's only $200 so great if you're a poorfag. One M7/M8 have nice speakers and performance but average battery life and shitty cameras. Hopefully the M9 fixed that. Galaxy Note series has great battery life and a stylus if you write notes or draw plus Samsung hasn't removed the MicroSD slot or removable battery yet.
For its time one of the best phones around.
Then I realized its battery is only 2kmAh
Then I realized you cannot flash the ROM, due to verizon's locked bootloader (can I get some help with this?)
Damnit. Thank god I have an upgrade soon. ( >>46826845 )
Chinese phones are taking over. My current phone, the Oppo Find 7 is great! Almost exactly like the LGG3 but better. I've got fast charge with 0 to 75% in 30 minutes. And the screen is better than the G3s.
>Also Saygus V2 is looking like a god phone but I don't know about battery life
>xperia Z3 and Z3c have great battery life.
> obligatory 1+1
> Asus zenfone 2
Xiaomi, oppo, huawei, zte, meizu
No specific order on the phones but they are all great choices you work regret (except zenfone, its not out yet ). Here's some links
https://www.saygus.com/v2/ dem specs doe
Z3 is lyfe, best Android phone I've used, and I've used a bunch.
There's nothing like a wank in the shower, watching porn on the waterproof fucker and listening to it with the waterproof Sony STH-30 earbuds. Absolutely fantastic.
Interesting headphone, but i don't like the sound of it, and it's really uncomfortable.
>Buy first PC - a gaymen laptop
>Pretty excited about it
>Buy a clevo coz money
>Ship it to my country from USA
> 2 months later $300 reduced on it and for the same price 860m came
>I fucked up
Do you even english bruh?
I think he means
>No signals on wifi
>Phone restarts every 3 days
>As summer is coming his phone heats
>From notification he cant close the music player
Sorry bud, I got a Xiaomi MI3 with lollipop and I dont have any problems like that.
Dont know why that happens with you.
nothing about this phone is premium or worth the extra money. DO NOT BUY! go for cheap Moto or LG.
