What would Voyagers trip have been like if the ships main computer ran on Gentoo?
>Fly up to voyager with the intention of seizing the vessel
>Fire warning shots
>The ship spontaneously disassembles itself
>It stays that way for a few hours
>It slowly recompiles itself, now with large guns pointing back
>The crew died from suffocation hours earlier
I'm pretty sure the holo doc would be in the image of Stallman
How fucking horrifying
Store the crew in the transporter pattern buffers and have the Doctor self activate after a timer delay and rematerialize the crew. Oh and Emergency Command Hologram Doctor fired the gun and blew you to smithereens.
>Shran wasn't a way better char only appearing in about 5 episodes.
>The Doctor outplayed the entire crew, and later on 7of9 even outbreasted Janeway.
Voyager any good?
>It isn't a compilation of Mad Max and Star Trek.
>Voyager isn't placed somewhere in the Outback of Straya surrounded by hordes of hillbilly niggers.
>A single ship is able to stand against an entire armada of Borg.
>Even Neelix' char - one of the most hated by Star Trek fanbase - made more progress than Janeway, Harry Kim, Torres, and Chakotey together.
Enterprise any good?
>Main story plot is about time line.
>Main story plot introduces species you haven't seen in any other franchise which is about 150 or maybe more years later.
>They haven't tried to achieve higher ratings by using appearence of that Vulcan female like they did with 7of9.
>They haven't tried to build up sexual tensions between Vulcan char and any male char.
>Quarantaine room had any other reason than sexualizing the story's plot.
>It's a good thing to change the time line.
Incompetent boob who got her crew lost in space for 7 years
Genuine space-racist, so much of a cowboy he makes a point of belittling Vulcans and other species at least once an episode. Also a fucken hothead who can't help taking out his cock for a pissing match every time someone dares question any decision he makes.
Threadly reminder that Tuvix was a murder; Harry Kim ain't Harry Kim but a fucking fake; Doctor is the best doctor.
At least one episode would not happen. The one where Voyager's computer gets a
virus
.
>made more progress than [...] Harry Kim
Kim really got the short end of the stick in that series. Hell, Paris pas demoted, and then later re-promoted, and Kim never got anything that I recall.
>Enterprise any good?
ENT had some promise, but they should've stuck with more of an exploring the unknown angle, rather than all that temporal cold war stuff.
And once they went full retard and became 9/11 in space, it simply could not be redeemed.
It attempted to compile an omega particle powered gigawarp drive and when it was first tested it created this.
Kirk would use loonix to copy saved win7 partition into mainframe comp and saving the day.
I only liked Enterprise for T'Pol. It also had the only non-TOS acceptable mirror universe episode(The DS9 ones were just awful).
I like Scott Bakula, but he just couldn't cut it as a Captain. He always seemed so hesitant and indecisive. He seriously lacked a commanding presence. As bad as Janeway was, she at least spoke with some authority.
People like the Klingon episodes and the Dominion war episodes. Star Trek combats can be neat.
If anyone makes a claim that they give half a fuck about the Bajorans, the prophet shit or Dr. Cuck's genetic engineering crap, they're lying.
You really have to know what to look for in DS9. The Kira romances and Bajoran politics are just so awful that I don't even watch any of them. Really DS9 is like you say that it strays so far from the original series that it becomes its own universe. That being said, TNG planted the seed that would become DS9.
TNG also had its share of piss poor episodes (someone say Troi?).
The original series is pure gold all around, and I don't think there will ever be anything quite as good as it.
in the pale moonlight is the best ds9 / show ever made
So now that theres absolute trekkie-faggotry in this thread, I have a question to you all. I'm at ep 19 of the first season of TOS, and I just find it puking terrible. Will it get better, or should I stop bothering with this absolute horseshit?
>not drinking tea, Earl Grey, hot
Yes, season two is decent, and then season 3 was so good that it caused Star Trek to continue on for another five decades.
They were just figuring out what exactly Star Trek is, and would be, during the first season.
Don't listen to this faggot. Finish it out.
I've always thought that but it ties in well with their selfless societies, they no longer live for themselves it's all about 'muh cause'.
They're all ghosts filling some shoes and wearing faces long since dead.
When you reduce a person to a mere instance of the idea of them star trek is a dystopia from a personal perspective.
Nah it's all squeaky clean, you won't even notice, well, nobody else will, you will cease to exist and therefore no longer care.
This is also why 'redshirt' deaths are fucking stupid because you convert the idea of someone into a transporter pattern, you can effectively clone the idea of them meaning you will never want for personnel ever again.
Death from a staffing point of view is an inconvenience at worst.
Fuck, have the entire crew in transporter buffers anyway.
Crew dies? Too bad, transport another batch of 'm to their work stations.
Transporters: suicide is fun! At least your clone gets to be on the planet faster.
But if you can reduce something to a pattern, whats to stop you feeding in a metric assload of whatever the fucks in that nebula over there as a raw resource and shaping it into the pattern? You've essentially converted matter to energy and back, tweak it in the buffers and you have a replicator of sorts.
I was attempting to sidestep the replicator issue of them being rather shit but you're right, it's the same fucking tech it's just a transporter removes the 'original' from existence first and pulls the pattern from what it destroyed while replicators work from templates.
Better series and ship coming in to ruin your thread.
Star Wars Vee Eye Eye should be good since he already had experience directing two Star Wars movies. I probably won't pay to see it. I only care about the vidya. Will the events of the Jedi Knight series be contradicted?
Imagine if they just did away with the from direction and only transported to directly from the buffers.
You could transport a whole army of Worfs onto the planet and have them kill themselves when the mission was completed.
>Will the events of the Jedi Knight series be contradicted?
I would count on it. I don't really care because it was so minor to the expanded universe but I wouldn't be surprised if they at least had the Jedi Acadamy on Yavin IV.
I just really REALLY hope they don't use the Yuuzhan Vong thing.
>Perfect AI cannot reproduce because it lacks a "soul"
Worst Sci-Fi of all time, absolutely haram.
>return to Earth
>3289462375863458364854 updates available
>your ship will need to restart to install the updates
Season 3 was some amazing DS9-like shit.
>ENT was GOAT
I couldn't get into it.
I couldn't get into DS9 either.
Loved TNG, even the more campy eps or characters, like old Troi.
Always thought I loved VOY too, but upon rewatching it, I had to stop midway thru Scorpion. Fuck.
>a pile of shit > VOY
It had an interesting idea going on. Some really nice elements, but it does falls short in the end. Too bad.
No, its fucking stupid.
Quark is annoying as fuck, there is a shape shifter policeman as a plot mechanic. The leader is a nigger with rage issues thats attracted to his "male" best friend trapped in a "female" body. And every single episode has above kirk tier over-acting like they are on the stage of a play.
Because it was pants on head retarded. The fucking mental acrobatics performed to keep the status quo hit the absolute worse apex in this.
At least for me.
I liked it more when I was younger.
Anyone that doesn't like ENT obviously had a knee jerk reaction to the intro (which is fucking awesome, fuck you).
Firefly got canceled because it was fan service pandering garbage and its fanatical fan-base of virgin's obsessed with kaylee and river were the only ones upset when it was canceled.
Coincidentally they were both shit actors and all the shows they made it into since then tanked. I.E. Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Serenity did a lot of things right though.
/g/ is closer to /tg/ than it likes to admit for its grimdarkness.
Hell if Voyager took as leaf from 40k it would've been 10x the series it was (though roddenberry would never have allowed it, he was dead by then). The 2-parter where they meet the other federation vessel gives a glimpse into what voyager should've been.
It got better when they sped it up.
Space is scary yo - its what makes HFY and other speculative fiction so good.
Can someone explain why exactly they loved Firefly? I don't understand the cult status of the show, and it has nothing to do with "space western" setting. That's what attracted me to it in the first place.
Everyone praised it so much, I couldn't believe how average the show was.
>TNG > DS9 > TOS > a pile of shit > VOY
I'd literally smear a pile of shit on my HD than watch VOY again.
>Native American first officer called Chipotle etc...
>mfw I walk onto the holodeck and it's covered in spooge
The "romantic" or "sensual" holodeck programs were always too weird.
For example, when Riker chooses to play a trombone with a jazz band for a classy lady, he smiles and acts as if he found a glory hole or something. He chooses the lady very carefully, in front of guys that tweaked the holodeck.
And he's as shocked when caught dancing and hugging with the woman, as you would be if you got caught masturbating.
It always felt like that was their future porn, or at least a future porn substitute for SFW television.
Minute is shit.
Remember: S1 and 2 TNG are shit, its S3 it becomes legot/riker grows a beard.
Ratings wise trek peaked mid TNG, it was all downhill from there.
THAT SAID ENT was the only trek apart from TOS to be canclled before it was "finished".
I enjoyed Voyager, but then I was about 15 when it came out so I think I just didn't know any better. Rewatching it is painful. There are some good fun episodes in the middle once they ditched Kes but they were trying too hard to get them off of the ship onto lavish sets when some of the bottle shows are the best.
DS9 had a bad start but damn if the whole dominion war wasn't an epic story. ENT sucked.
>TNG > DS9 > TOS > VOY > ENT anyway
>kill off main character
>bawws from fans, super support for series
>revival a few years later
Above is what I'm sure they wanted. What they actually got is fans that couldn't give a shit. Good riddance.
S1 was fine, S2 sucked because of that Pulaski bitch.
Well, maybe Roddenberry had a good vision poorly implemented.
