So what's it going to be for the new OnePort Air, /g/?
An etherkiller but with a USB-C plug on the end?
the screen can be put on the back of the keyboard so the mb can be used as a tablet.
Obviously there is a small protection and the user must force a little when the screen wont go further.
improve the new macbook pro performances by putting it in your oven.
>An etherkiller but with a USB-C plug on the end?
Yes, this. But how would you get people to do that themselves? You'd have to make it and send it to them which opens up a new can of worms.
I think >>46938760 is the best idea.
Maybe some BS about it having no fans
"Through streamlined innovation, our Apple engineers have achieved a MacBook completely free of moving parts with a fan-less design, introducing Apple Zero Kinetic Interference™
At apple we know your life doesn't stop, so your
laptop shouldn't either. Waterproof for 10.6ft, the
new MacBook is resistant to spills, rain and can
even be used in the bath or shower so you can be ready can whenever inspiration hits."
It'll need tidying up a bit.
>Not trolling on the smart watch instead
Automatic watches of yesteryear were charged by regular use and by spinning. The new Apple Watch can be charged through similar means through proprietary thermokinetic charging. All that needs to be done is a run through the washer and dryer.
Aluminum cases alzheimers / autism
Be sure to clean your new Mac book with rubbing alcohol before use, or wash it with water since it's now waterproof
Not the same guy as >>46939439 but I had a go at it. I used some of his text tough.
"on your first use the screen will go blank, this is normal and the downloading required software...."
Apple consumers are stupid and can't understand something with too much steps
Okay I removed that line and fixed the typos I could find.
before we fix the rest, someone shop this with an aluminum bezel and a newer version of OS X
pretty name. Way better than Ipad mode.
I'm pretty sure random sentences can be add like
>when the ipad meet the macbook
>your macbook at your fingerprint. Whenever you want
>switch from laptop mode to tablet mode easily
>MacBook and iPad air, the perfect combination
>description background isn't in line with the picture background
>text and image aren't vertically centered
I barely know Photoshop so I did my best with these.
I'm not some Photoshop master. If you can do better then do it yourself.
Did what I could with my knowledge of Photoshop.
Reads too much like a fucking dialog; remove formulations like “Now, ”, and get rid of the “any noises you hear are normal” bullshit.
Use fewer words, and fix your unprofessional-sounding formulations (“are some tiny micro-switches” etc).
Make it more hyped, like an Apple commercial.
Here's a shitty "tablet" MBA, still working on it
Wow, I love this new MacBook(tm) force(tm) feature!
"HI I'M BILLY MAYS AND I'M HERE TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT THE NEW MACBOOK AIR, BY APPLE. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN USING YOUR MACBOOK AND WANTED TO SLIM IT DOWN? JUST USE THE SCREEN? MAKE IT EVEN MORE PORTABLE? NOW YOU CAN, WITH THE TABLET FEATURE OF THE NEW MACBOOK AIR. WHEN YOU'RE USING THE MACBOOK, SIMPLY PUSH THE SCREEN AROUND TO A NEAR-180 DEGREE ANGLE. THEN PUSH A LIIIIIIIIITTLE MORE TO ENGAGE THE CLIPS THAT TELL THE MACBOOK TO GO INTO TABLET MODE. YOUR SCREEN WILL FLASH, AND THEN YOU'LL HAVE THE FUNCTIONALITY OF YOUR IPAD, ON YOUR MACBOOK! ALL OF YOUR CONTACTS, SCREENSHOTS, PHOTOS AND MOVIES CAN BE SHARED BETWEEN YOUR IPAD, AND YOUR MACBOOK IN TABLET MODE!
ORDER NOW AND WE'LL THROW IN A FREE MACBOOK CARRY BAG AND MACBOOK TABLET SOFT COVER."
fuck, someone photoshop a hand on this thing, fixed the bezel kind of
fixed it, what do you think guys?
Do something with the macbook being waterproof.
What is the font apple uses for its ads?
We should also make one for the Iwatch, imagine all the losers who pay 10k for that shit get rused by our scheme
I tried annons, I tried the best I could but all the photoshopped images I made looked fake so I had to use images they used in their marketing
(fixed text spacing)
Minor fix. Let me know if you guys like it or not, I think the bullshit can be improved; I'm not very eloquent in english.
I'm telling reddit and facebook about this.
You guys are fucking horrible trolls.
I'm not familiar enough with Apple to know their ads or writing style, but the thing looks like a bathroom scale to me.
What about something for the apple watch?
"completely waterproof" and stuff. (it is not really waterproof as is put it in water. they just said it might be okay in rain.)
The macbook tablet mode is great.
it's difficult for the smart watch. There is no reason for a guy to put the watch in the water (or maybe a bath or a shower, so the idea would to take a guy in a shower and photoshop the watch).
someone needs to Photoshop it like this
Yea that's what I was trying to do when I made it but I'm not good enough with Photoshop or Illustrator to pull it off. I had pic as a reference
I will change the text but I don't believe in the idea anymore. I mean I know we're targeting retards, but it's obvious the hinge can't go past a certain point because the screen's bottom bezel will go into the keyboard. Are there really people that stupid out there?
It's almost like you guys want to give away that it's fake. I made up a more bullshit name, and slightly rephrased the text
Yeah I know where you're coming from but display has a more pleasant tone to it than hinge. Hinge sounds really awkward to me, something Apple wouldn't really use. But what do I know, I'm not Apple.
minor edit, reduced repetition of word
These are fucking great, but remember that lately Apple has been going full minimalism with their naming, I think a single word would be better. It's not like people dumb enough to fall for these would notice, though.
>switches to iOS
this smells too much like bullshit, I'd stick to some new feature set introduced with the latest Yosemite update.
With the new MacBook, they finally released the Clamshell Ipad.
We can't spread this too early before the release because it will give Apple time to release a statement that the keyboard can't be flipped
>Tfw I came up with a name Apple actually used
Name suggestions? We've got Flip, iFlip but I don't like them too much
It's taken from you spin my head right round song, apple likes this kind of thing no? But I also like Literally Revolutionarry
Were prepp'ing a month in advance. We'll probably have more shit ready by then, possibly like;
>With the new Macbook, you can use the new Apple™ plug you can charge your laptop via injecting coffee straight to the connecter cable and charge your laptop on the go! This will boost the performance of the Macbook and help cooling it down to subzero operating temperatures, truly a unique innovation.
Use their marketing speak, too:
Not just a thinner display. A better display.
To create the thrilling new experience of Macbook, we combined the power and versatility of Mac with the intuitive and elegant design of iPad. So you get the best of both worlds.
With the new Force Touch Retina Display, you can experience the fluidity of iPad on a trackpad or the precision of Mac on a touchscreen. The Force Touch Retina display is engineered to deliver precise touchscreen control for tactile feedback. So you get a responsive click anywhere on the screen. The screen comes equipped with force sensors, allowing it to detect how much force you're applying. You can experience your Mac as never before.
The revolutionary Flip Hinge allows you to use Macbook as either a laptop or a tablet. So you have power when you need it and portability when you don't. Simply fold back the Retina display to enable Force Touch on the display. Our revolutionary MagLatch prevents accidentally folding the screen. So your computer responds to what you want.
Our fake marketing must be precisely designed to use gratuitous adjectives and unnecessary sentence fragments. So it seems like Apple. This is just a rough draft and can be improved to be much better. So it will fool all those moronic sheep who bought this garbage.
That's honestly pretty nice. Much better than mine >>46941354 (which was the wrong model anyway, fuckin lel)
You should try using something like this screenshot on the monitor though, looks more touch-friendly. Also the screen looks too big for the hand, people might call bullshit.
The fuck? There already is a Butterfly keyboard:
And it's ten times better than this chiclet bullshit.
That actually might be funny, though: spread around the Thinkpad butterfly keyboard so anyone searching for the Macbook's keyboard will find a thick black plastic box from 1995.
>So you have power when you need it and portability when you don't.
What about that the USB type c can be switched to a normal type A port by pulling the little tab on the inside out with a pair of pliers
>some bs about trying make it a more convenient switch from type a to type c by putting both in
I was intending to say you have power when you need power and portability when you're doing more casual things which don't need power.
It is worded strangely, though. I've since edited that line on my local copy to read:
>Power, portability, and the magic of Force Touch Retina. A full-size touchscreen experience in our smallest notebook ever. The power of Mac, at your fingertips.
Gotta have grammatically unnecessary commas. Apple loves those.
Nah. Apple would never ask users to use pliers. Never ever ever ever under any circumstances. Macbooks don't even have user-replaceable batteries, so there's no way they'd want you within five miles of it with pliers.
You *could* claim that it is compatible with some other type of plug that looks like it might fit but would break it. MicroUSB, perhaps?
Another thing I'm doing is making it more general marketing as opposed to just marketing of one feature. That way it might be a bit less obvious it's fake. The computer-destroying bullshit will show up alongside actual things people can verify from other sources.
So I'm rewriting this entire page:
It'll contain actual information with one or two bits of nonsense which will ruin the machine.
I thought so. The use of actual professional images, text, and verifiable facts should make out stuff look more legitimate.
It's also possible that our stuff will look really fake alongside the actual Apple stuff, but in that case I can just take out the actual Apple stuff.
Well that`s where I copied my section from. I`m hoping to have it look exactly like that page so it`ll seem like it came from the same source and they just missed it on the website.
I was thinking of recreating some their sections and slipping my image in the album of photos, maybe someone could write a fake review article about it with the picture slipped in there as well?
Here is one potentially major problem: when folding the screen back, the keyboard will be exposed. What happens when you press buttons in tablet mode?
My suggestion is to clone the Thinkpad Yoga. It retracts the keys when in tablet mode so you can't accidentally press them. We could claim it's called Butterfly because the keyboard emerged when you go back to notebook mode like a butterfly coming from a cocoon, but I'm having difficulty making that sound good in the writing.
I'm working something about the keyboard hiding when you fold the screen into my fake ad copy.
people will stop once they meet resistance from the hinge opening limit
need to add some "there is initial resistance from the click lock which ensures the display doesnt accidentally swith on butterfly while in use on a desk, simply push harder to pass the click lock and activate butterfly" etc. someone write it in apple language
Well that`s why I don't like the idea even though I've been reworking the ad all day.
Even if you say there is initial resistance, the way the hinge looks, it`s obvious that it would never be able to fully rotate. Maybe we should advertise it as 180deg instead of 360?
too much meme, also use this >>46950489 paragraph layout and wording.
Say something about a magnetic lock system that keeps the screen up when in pc mode, so it behaves *exactly* like you want it to
We need so standardize our terms. What is the hinge called? What is the screen called? What is the keyboard called? What is the "flipping" feature called? What is the tablet mode called? Exactly what does this "flipping" feature do?
I think Butterfly is the best option for the hinge and the "flipping" feature, but it is already taken by the keyboard. So we either need to find some convincing way of renaming the keyboard or we need another name for the "flipping". I would say we should call the feature Revolve because it sounds appropriate, gives us lots of great opportunities for lines about how Revolutionary it is, and isn't already taken. If we call it Revolve, Google searches for "Revolve MacBook" will find our stuff. If we call it Butterfly, Google searches for "Butterfly MacBook" will find the keyboard.
Here is my tentative list. We can change this as needed, but consistency is vitally important.
The flipping feature is called Revolve. Revolve activates Force Touch on the display and disables the keyboard and trackpad. In order to keep the keyboard from being damaged or from being annoying, the keys retract when in tablet mode like the Thinkpad Yoga.
The hinge is called the Revolve Hinge.
The tablet mode doesn't need a special name.
The Revolve Hinge comes with a special latch called MagLatch, like MagSafe. This latch will keep the screen from accidentally reversing (explaining the resistance when breaking) and will hold the screen flat against the body in tablet mode.
My only complaint is that the reflections are off. The screen should reflect the back of the other screen, but it looks transparent instead. The logo reflection is all wrong. But very well-designed with just some polish needed.
I would also suggest "Revolutionary. Literally." rather than "Literally revolutionary", but that's not a biggie.
yo i found your post. I hope it is an improvement
KEEP IT AS BUTTERFLY
PEOPLE WILL HEAR APPLE AND BUTTERFLY TOGETHER ON THE NEWS AND IT ADDS A HUGE AMOUNT OF LEGITIMACY TO OUR IDEA
THE AVERAGE PERSON REALLY IS TOO STUPID TO PUT TWO AND TWO TOGETHER
Polls to standardize our names and features:
Name of "flipping" feature:
Magnetic latch poll:
Behavior (MULTIPLE OPTIONS ALLOWED):
Shit. Anyone have any idea how to make a multi-option poll that works correctly? I was trying to see what percentage of people would vote for each one, but it's just total votes.
I assume everyone will vote for "enable touchscreen" on behavior, so we can get a decent estimate. But it isn't perfect.
I have another poll because some people want to call the display Multi-Touch Retina and not mention Force Touch:
Should the touchscreen have Force Touch or just a normal touchscreen like the iPad?
yo here's the opaque version. Didn't error check it, but how is this, I think maybe some transparency would be nice, but ill let you decide. I feel some transparency is more "apple like"
Here's my revised fake copy:
>The Best of Both Worlds
To create the thrilling new experience of MacBook, we combined the power and precision of a Force Touch trackpad with the intuitive versatility of the new Multi-Touch Retina display. You can experience the portability and fludity of a touchscreen on Mac and the precise control of Mac on a touchscreen. So you get the best of both worlds.
The Multi-Touch Retina display is engineered to deliver precise control. Using the same technology as Force Touch, MacBook instantly responds to pressure and provides haptic feedback. The intuitive Multi-Touch gestures Mac users love have been brought to a touchscreen for the first time. You can experience your Mac as never before.
>The revolutionary Butterfly Hinge allows you freedom to use the Macbook the way you want. Simply fold back the Retina display and the Force Touch system will activate, allowing an enthralling Multi-Touch experience. The MagLatch technology prevents accidental folding and securely locks the display when using the touchscreen. So your MacBook always does what you want. Simply bring the display forward to deactivate the touschscreen and return to the Mac experience you know and love.
Power, portability, and the magic of Multi-Touch Retina with Force Touch. A full-size touchscreen experience in our smallest notebook ever. The power of Mac at your fingertips, wherever you are.
I'm fairly happy with the parts in black. The greentext still needs some work.
So, what double niggers said they'd specify a new name for the keyboard in the thread and then never did?
And at this point, I'm done with writing. I have to go. I'll still hang out ITT, but I'm not going to try writing on my phone. Someone is welcome to finish up my fake copy if they think it's decent.
REMINDER TO EVERYONE :
DO NOT RELEASE ON REDDIT, /b/ or ANYWHERE.
Keep it on /g/ or on boards like /gd/ etc. We must finish the design, make sure everything is perfect, and release it the same day of the new macbook release day (10 april)
I did the poll, but I don't think mentioning the hinge as a hinge is a good idea. I think it should be mentioned (ofc), but only that after the snap or click (or something), the screen will <insert something it'll do>.
Also, butterfly is not good. They introduced it in their name, and after all this making up, it has to work. We should use a simple name (like the poll mentioned, something like Flip (which is a bit blunt/unclassy) or Revolve or whatever).
I'm going to use a trip ITT, and I think anyone else who wants to collaborate should. Should make things a bit easier.
Yeah, we should probably redo the polls every so often because people's opinions will change as we discuss things.
Someone want to take charge of that? I would, except I'm traveling.
I don't think the hand is a problem. Hand models have small hands.
Perhaps it could be a bit bigger, but the fact that the hand looks small isn't unusual.
Could I get some feedback on this? Is it good enough that I should finish it up tonight?
Should we try to collaborate with them? We don't want our version getting out until next month, but I think our version is much better because it's more believable and is something people are actually going to want to test.
I cant quite come up with something good, but think maybe something about the hinge being called the the Core or something like that.
Though I liked Butterfly anyways
Core could be used for something else anyways
I meant that people won't believe the computer will float. And if they do believe it, they won't put it in their bathtub. It being able to float doesn't prove it's waterproof, after all, and putting a laptop in water seems like an obvious way to break it so people will be skeptical and do more research.
We might trick them, but the people who made the other images probably won't.
And do you have that .gif?
They like to fuck shit up and there's a lot of /b/tards, so if we plan things correctly they can definitely help us.
I say we cooperate with /b/ on April 10th. That way they can't ruin things by giving people time to find out it's fake and their numbers can help spread it widely.
do not tell /b/ about this... yet
i use /b/ and i can tell you that as soon as it reaches there on any sort of scale, people will jump onto the "big new maymay" and ruin it with shit ideas
get the proper idea + proper infographics(or whatever) ready, and THEN use /b/ to spread it
Not hard at all. Probably would take a few hours to make a good one, though. I could do it myself but I'm sure there's someone on here who could do a much better job than me so...
This. Let's get all the shit together first, when it's ready to go ask /b/ro's for help. I wish i could do anything with graphics. cs doesn't teach that shit.
/gd/ is our best bet for help, someone on there has made a post about the mac floating on water, which no cunt, even a macfag would buy into.
/b/ has so many users that it therefore has many retards. Whatever ideas get posted there will instantly be posted onto social media by people wanting to be the "I contributed to le maymay xD" guy, so we really need to make sure that the non-believable stuff gets filtered out before /b/ sees it.
when I said "cooperate with /b/", I had exactly that in mind
I think we already settled on this 180 screen-cracking idea. We just have to find *really good* way to convince macfags that "it just feels like it won't open any more, you really have to apply force"
We have the idea, I'll give you that. But we still don't have many _believable_ images to post around. Just having one or two will mean that once this gets discovered it will be instantly recognizable. If we have like 10 of them then it might last a bit longer. Also we need to properly agree on a universal name for it, like how last time it was 'Wave'. If people see the same feature mentioned a bunch of times they will eventually try it out to see what the fuss is all about
yo i made the last images:
if u dont like go to gd, but involving more people is more risk of getting dicks who post it. idc what everyone likes best, less work for me, more work for someone else. only thing I cant do is 3d shit
What about simply saying it's a strong magnet, which will take some force to overcome? You could say that this is for maximum convenience to ensure that the screen only tilts backwards when necessary. Pretty obvious idea but it's simple and apple customers can understand it and will explain the pressure quite well. Maybe you could mention neodymium magnets so that anyone who tries to google it will feel a false sense of validation about it just being a strong magnet?
What we really need is a 3d render of a macbook doing something similar to that, with a white background and some gray helvetica font or whatever the fuck they use telling the viewer how simple and easy it is to transform it. And dont forget the music etc that they usually use in order to make it more authentic
You could fit it in the description pretty easily, something like "Our innovative use of neodymium magnets ensure that Flip takes place only when necessary, allowing you to have convenience as well as productivity." I don't fucking know.
I ran some polls. The results are decent, but not all are conclusive. Things which are pretty conclusive will be black. Things which are still undecided are green, with the level of uncertainty proportional to how many arrows there are in front. I'll summarize:
The feature is called Butterfly.
The latch (if we decide to use one) is called MagLatch.
The keyboard is still called Butterfly. We will not try to avoid confusion with a fake name
Flipping the screen enables the touchscreen.
>Flipping the screen disables the keyboard and trackpad.
>The screen has Force Touch, not just regular multitouch.
>There is a magnetic latch which prevents accidentally flipping the screen (explains the resistance)
>>The feature uses a hinge called a Butterfly hinge.
>>>The screen is called Multi-Touch Retina.
>>>>The keyboard and the new feature are called Butterfly because they're related. We'll mention Butterfly the tablet mode and Butterfly the keyboard as if they're related.
The screen is on the wrong side and it's aliased to hell and back.
Something like that would look good, but with the keyboard hidden on the bottom and done a bit better.
I like it. Why don't you make a poll sometime to see if we'll agree to use it?
How about calling the hinge 'Wing' or something relevant if you're going for 'Butterfly' as the overall name? MagLatch sounds horrible and not very Apple-ish because it' doesn't sound nice or simple.
The less syllables the better when it comes to this stuff. iFold sounds a bit silly, but its sort of like the device saying "hey look, iFold!"
Could be used in a good way maybe, though I like the simplicity of just "Fold"
It was inspired by MagSafe. I agree that it isn't a good name.
I think most people are in agreement that we're going by polls because we need to be consistent. Propose a better name and we'll vote on it, and if it does better than MagLatch we'll use it.
Does that sound reasonable?
I used to think wireless charging was a gimmick, but these days I can see how it would be handy and will probably only gain in popularity over time. However, I feel that charging docks are a more efficient and aesthetically superior option. Especially now that we have USB Type-C, which can carry video, audio data, and power all at the same time, the possibilities for interconnection are huge.
Well if everyone agrees one one thing it would be unfair to randomly switch but I'm just saying MagLatch doesnt sound as 'nice' as Apple stuff normally does which could make the entire thing look fake
What if the feature was called Click, and the user has to push the screen until it clicks into place? That implies that the resistance they feel is just a build up to the 'click' (aka their screen snapping off) so they keep going
Just for reference, this is what HP presents this functionality for Pavilllion x360
I wonder if there's a way to also imply that the action has to be relatively fast because that's how it knows you want to go into tablet mode? That way it is a guaranteed broken screen. It would also make the users who attempt to do it slowly think "oh, right, I have to do it fast to make it work"
