Previous thread >>46937498
As you may know, we're planing and marketing the new feature of the new Macbook from Apple.
Wave was an awsome feature, but Butterfly hinge will be the Next Big Thing.
The revolution is here. Ready ?
Do not ask /b/ help
Do not talk of it on social media
Keep it a project from /g/. People from /gd/, /biz/, /r/ and anyone that wants to help on the design and maketing is welcome.
The new macbook will be launch the 10 april, everything will stay on /g/ till there.
I don't like "literally revolutionary", sounds unprofessional. I like Butterfly Fold because the picture looks like butterfly wings.
>Do not ask /b/ help
>Do not talk of it on social media
>Keep it a project from /g
Holy shit, I think I'm gonna buy that, cover the logo and install Debian on it.
>inb4 you can get better specs for less money
Yeah, but at $1299 for a gold laptop is something you can't pass up.
Yeah, that was what I mentioned in the previous thread. All we need to say that a quick pushing motion on the screen will result in Fold being activated and the device switching to tablet mode. Just tell them to push until they hear Fold activating which will cause them to just push until they hear the sound. Unfortunately for them, the sound that they hear is the screen coming off.
yo i dont wanna be cocky, but i think my improvement is a better pic to use. someone mentioned something about reflection, ill add it later, unless someone's capable. then i can send you the psd
another img as someone asked me to do.. i know the fagbook is a bit big for the hand, but its a photo, everything can be changed
Idea: Create a Reddit page or something which can be moderated by some /g/ users called Butterfly (or whatever our main choice of name will be). Now, on this page we post about how revolutionary this is and how much of a positive impact on our productivity this has made. If we can get this to show on the first result of google when someone searches "macbook butterfly" then we now have a fake source of proof that will make people feel comfortable doing it. Then, anyone who posts that this is a hoax gets banned + their comment removed.
>>46954620 is right
add transparency, put the screen on the back of the keyboard.
about the text I think it's unanime :
we must find a way to tell apple consummers that when you cannot got further, you must apply force till hearing a little noise, a *click* that tells your macbook is now in tablet mode.
You know, i hate to admit it, but only having to plug one cable into my notebook would be super convenient for docking it.
Assuming we see some kind of USB-C hub appearing with DVI/DP, audio connectors, and standard usb 3 ports.
the official date is 10 april. You're probably right about having it on first result of google, but reddit is a popular media. Someone might see it and tells apple or journalist to make a anti-hoax campaign.
I don't want to see it out of 4chan for now. same goes for /b/ since they'll release it when they'll see it
That's way too much wording for an Apple product. Typically the feature and product descriptions are short, choppy sentences.
I think it'd sound better like this:
We designed the MacBook to be a device without compromise. To achieve this, we created Butterfly, a revolutionary notebook display hinge. By rotating the display 180 degrees, you can use ForceTouch to interact with your notebook in new and truly immersive way. And it all comes together in the most compact Mac we've designed. You've never been so free.
It can still use work, but it seems a bit too descriptive the way it is now. Apple is a champion at describing things with amazing amounts of ambiguity. Just a thought.
So your reasoning is that since they were able to see through your lie the first time, you should give them the same lie a second time, because it'd be inconceivable that someone would troll you twice, right?
It's amazing that someone trying to troll others on their stupidity is himself such a fucking retard.
I agree, i'm just saying. the reduction of clutter for me would be huge if i just have to stick one cable into my laptop when i'm using it at my desk (plugged into an external display)
Having at least a couple of fullsize usb is pretty essential.
posts on facebook are casual, often exaggerated for comedic effect, and between normal human beings. They're not honed advertising soundbites.
You know what, keep it in. This will make it more obvious for people that are not retarded that an autistic person made these.
>DCT/Quantization on an image of mainly solid white and simple text
You're kidding me right? The text looks pretty trashed too.
Gotta step it up. Apple's marketing is sleek, the haze of compression artifacts subtlely compromises that.
Ugh. People these days. jpg... mp3. How is this garbage still around.
That's not us, /b/ did that AFAIK
How does that affect us?
If we go complete radio silence right now, shit will not go far and by the time MacBooks get released, no one will remember this hoax attempt because normalfags have attention span of a cat on cocaine
We just have to really keep this here
yeah maybe we should do this thread and another to finish what was started, and one month later, two days before the next big thing happens (the 8) re-open thread about it, and do the final pictures.
I'm not sure that many 10yearolds have so retarded and/or rich parents that would buy 1,2k dollaroos macbook on release
It's like advertising for children diapers at abortion clinic
I wouldn't describe the language in ads as "white girl starbucks" language. Maybe you're thinking of facebook.
oh wait that's right, that's what you were saying, that facebook/white girl starbucks language is the same. that's true though, and a platitude, so i'm not sure what your point is.
The wording doesn't quite say "Apple" to me. It doesn't feel like little fingers are trying to reach down my throat and dabble around inside my skull as I read it. It doesn't feel "wrong" enough.
"Literally" also has to go. No one in any high profile marketing department would ever do that. As a marketer you are an engineer, not a panderer.
Needs refinement. Reads like a troll image, or as though the writer is snickering inside. Has a hostile vibe, Apple favors vague detachment.
You'd be surprised dude, 3 year olds are walking around with iPads. Primary schools in affluent areas are encouraging computer use in school so a lot of little kids get laptops, a secondary school nearby gives laptops to all freshmen(11-12 years old), and not just some cheap dell, they get macbooks. This isn't even a very affluent area or school, I'm in the Netherlands so this is probably nowhere near as radical as some 'innovative' grade school in California. And those are just the kids who get it for school, just think of how many spoiled kids there are who just get this kind of stuff for no real reason.
You don't have a heart.
It's become quite obvious that photoshop won't save us. We need a 3D model so we can pull of a convincing render of this.
We could also then make a quick video showing the rotation, slowing it down where it meets the resistance and then showing it continue all the way back. Like that people will see it's possible and understand that there's a point of resistance
I don't think the butterfly will work. The hinge resistance will stop even retards. The best part about wave is that it involves a process that people are mostly ignorant about (microwaves), and the damage is done while the phone is out of their hands.
Stop that. It's annoying.
Shape adaptive DCT-based deblocking method applied. Roughly brought the image back to the clarity it ought to be. Next time don't fuck it up when you save it to begin with, you'll even probably have a smaller file size.
while 1 or 2 jabronis might end their macbook, the only way this will troll people is if it's the reason they're buying it.
Then when they find out their model doesn't have it they return it, scorning apple.
Can't be bothered to deal with fonts.
Something dealing with evolution (vague scientific reference), iteration, perfection, or being created superior through meticulous intelligence and engineering.
Those implications are an avenue to perhaps explore.
that doesnt fit in the text without sounding out of place. we're talking about how perfect it is and then we say you have to use force to open it?
it's like using an instruction manual as advertising
Then you make it sound like this force makes it more convenient. "With one fast click of the screen, you're in tablet mode." "Our click lock technology prevents accidental activation of Fold technology." There, convert that to apple talk and we're good.
I'm going to quit working on this, you can have the AI file
- I don't like the idea
- I don't have the skills to push this further
- Retards are going to release this too early
Butterfly, a revolutionary notebook display hinge.
By rotating the display 180 degrees, you can use ForceTouch to interact with your notebook in a newly immersive way. And it all comes together in the most compact Mac we've designed. You've never been so free.
this is pretty good, but use a more gentle-sounding name than ForceTouch.
the rhythm/pacing/melody/whatevertheshit is off on this sentence:
>And it all comes together in the most compact Mac we've designed.
And it all comes together in the most compact Mac we've ever made.
also it should probably say
>flipping the display 180 degrees
>flipping the display
>rotating the display 180 degrees
ButterFly, a revolutionary notebook display hinge
By flipping the display, you can use ButterTouch to interact with your notebook in a newly immersive way. And it all comes together in the most compact Mac we've ever made. You've never been so free.
(samefag) i think we need something as concise as possible, something along the lines of >>46964243
the ones below are way too long. the kind of person who would fall for this doesn't have the attention span to read and comprehend all that.
also the pic should be like >>46954446 BUT with the keyboard side instead of the back of the screen. two screens and two keyboard parts. so the top half would look like a normal laptop partially closed and the bottom half would look like the same laptop but opened way too far (far enough to break it).
pic related might help if some photoshop wizard wants to make that pic
Transparency makes cuhrazy distortion less noticeable, and it makes sense as a demonstration of folding
>mfw samsung chromebook 3
>The new macbook flips, but never flops.
>Introducing Butterfly, the revolutionary system that allows you to use your Macbook as a laptop or tablet. Your screen will never fall back on its own. Push until you hear a click, and have the ease of using a tablet when you want it.
keep it simple stupid. i hate to be one of the fags who go "hurr this is why you don't work at AAPL" but the completely horizonal extraneous flaps? it just breaks the aesthetics. it should just be like OPs pic but with the keyboard side instead of the back cover so it looks like one normal laptop on top and one over-bent laptop below it, shaped into an angled butterfly-like shape.
don't be over-specific and don't say anything about it requiring more force than usual, it will just sound weird and raise suspicion. it probably won't take obscene amounts of force to break the hinge anyway.
I found this thread like 2 hours ago and it sounded like fun.
I tried, dont hurt me plz. I liked >>46964401 idea for the keyboard and tried my hand at a shoop as well. It might look a tad messy though, will upload a v2 with the original pic in a moment.
and alt version with >>46964842
Audio Engineer here
im not even pissed off by the obvious ripoff, even though this shit is so overpriced its not even funny.
i just dont get the need for another product line that is almost identical except for a new design, new trackpad and the usb bullshit.
i use a 13 inch air for work, and im not really a mac fag. but the only thing that really matters to me is the portability (the lighter the better) and screen real estate.
why didnt they just go with a 15 inch air?
You lot are fucking retard designers.
The keyboard side should be showing for all rotations. People see the flat faced laptop (screen and keyboard facing the same way) which it can do anyway, and then the other two just don't make sense.
It shouldn't matter which left and right pairing you pick, it should still look like it can achieve it
Pic related, how is this fucking possible? /g/ is as retarded as the audience it's trying to fool.
These are the retards, retard:
And it took how many posts to reach this?
I read the fucking thread.
>but to fit one into the elegantly thin new MacBook, **WE HAD TO** completely rethink how a keyboard is engineered and constructed.
the only weak part is
>when the keyboard is flipped
>And it all comes to light on the thinnest, most energy-efficient Retina display ever on a Mac, meticulously honed to deliver a bold visual experience within an impossibly minimal design.
Straight from the Apple website, you guys are clearly amateurs in fake Apple marketing
Wow i now believe in God, only God can create such diversity and uniqueness in the people He creates. I've never seen someone as retarded as you, you are truly unique.
You do understand the whole point of that image is to keep 1 part of the laptop fixed and show the other one rotating around it? Yes it's poorly done, but anyone with a brain could figure that out. It's not the final version
What you're describing would be showing it opening like a book, and while that's not a bad idea, you're completely retarded for not understanding the other concept
Fuck it, i can't figure out screen glare, maybe another anon can. Or maybe we should just stick with partially transparent
uf we put the keyboard where you draw, it will just represent that you can turn around the computer.
WHat is needed on this picture is the screen on the back of the keyboad. nothing else. or the keyboard behind the screen (so rotate the keyboard and not the screen
New mockup, looks a little more official and it's got some nice apple buzzwords in there.
You should have the laptop parts fade out the more you open them, to symbolize that it's a motion
It'd still look like a butterfly or some shit, but it's clearer what you're supposed to do with it.
I concur the new Apple™ MacBook™ is revolutionary, simply amazing. You would be a fool not to buy one. Oh and that Apple™ Watch™? More than just a timepiece, it's a masterpiece.
I haven't been to bed yet and these images have been edited like twice before i got ahold of them, so gimmie a break. And like i said, im making these as proof of concept for discussion, not intended as final versions or anything.
anyway here is proof of concept image for >>46965915 >>46965966
the opaque graphic still looks way to plain and non-Apple.
im gonna be that faggot and say i prefer the wording in mine as its mostly based on what a couple other anons already simplified it to, and it feels more vague like what apple does.
Some more changes.
Apple doesn't ever calistamp their ads, only their products.
Only one I have left is that you shouldn't use "ever" and "never" so close to each other. Should phrase one of them differently so they don't use the almost same words.
well in any case i will see where this thread ends up once i wake up.
I disagree with swapping Mac out for Device, as they have obviously made more compact devices before.
Also, with what you have cut out, the remaining words don't flow at all.
I like the sentence "You've never been so free", but "The most compact device we've designed" sounds a bit clunky.
maybe we can go full Apple-cocky and say "in the most compact device yet." or "our most compact device yet"
Alternative to the other, shortened the gibberish a bit, is it any easier to read? It's like 3AM here and my brain isn't workin' good.
Fine, but at least vertically center it like the logo.
and consider keeping the logo and the text within the bounds of the horizontal rule.
Needs a little bit more hamming, but I love it.
"Introducing Butterfly, OUR revolutionary new display hinge. By rotating the display 180 degrees, you'll have all the power of OS X right at your fingertips. Literally. It all comes together in the most comp..."
enought. Many websites talked about this hoax and warned apple consumers.
But I guess the microwave thing was too big. Anyone that can think a little, would know that it was a hoax.
the tablet mode is more plausible.
No matter what, we need to have rotate be conjugated as a command. We have to remember the psychological manipulation required to make people do this. A lot of subliminal work is required.
Introducing Butterfly, a revolutionary display hinge. Rotate your display 180 degrees and ForceTouch input activates for a truly immersive experience. All in the most advanced and compact MacBook ever.
You've never been so free.
If anyone likes it, feel free to use and abuse it into one of the mockups.
Alright, fucking off to bed now, here's the final version for the night, do with it what you will. If anyone has a font with adjustable weighting for helvetica that'd be great.
Wow you guys completely destroyed my work.
Not using Myriad Pro Thin? GET OUT OF HERE.
Who thought adding a horizonal line with the apple logo a good idea?
This was supposed to be my gift to the world and you guys turned it to shit in less than 24 hours
No really, you're pooring intense amounts of effort into potentially tricking maybe one, maybe two retards into breaking their apple products. The microwave one was really good, but this?
This is shit.
Buy up a significant portion of Apple stock then tank it?
Create a new technology company to rival apple and put them out of business?
Create an add campaign spreading true reasons why people shouldn't buy apple products?
There's only so many times you can tell the same joke and it be funny. This faked features campaign has run its course and you are just wasting your time at this point.
I made the pic OP used. I gave up on my work >>46956136
You're implying I give a fuck about others knowing while posting on 4chan. If I was serious about this I'd do it on my own and release it on the same day the macbook hits the stores.
They did ruin it, it was consistent with Apple's marketing for the new macbook, now they've changed the font, it no longer looks like the ads and will give an extra indication that it's fake, not that anyone would believe this stupid idea.
The idea was that someone on 4chan actually had the skills to create a reasonable looking fake announcement from Apple. They just want to flesh this idea out before spreading it on other social media. The reason they're asking not to post this elsewhere is because when that happens, the target audience will be on to it before the macbook is out, limiting the number of victims.
>Looks like /g/ has come to doxx me!
>Seriously, fuck off faggots. 4chan isn't your exclusive club anymore. Anybody could have posted it to /b/
>Are you fags just butthurt that "muh exclusive club" isn't so exclusive anymore? Or do you actually think I ruined the troll? Nobody in /r/4chan is going to buy a macbook. Nobody buying a macbook will read /r/4chan. It's not like it's on facebook or even /r/funny or any big subs. Even if I did, only a few people there would buy a macbook.
>muh internet points
What you little fucksters are doing is stupid and worst of all people are going to be losing their hard earned money by inflicting mechanical damage on a brand new device and voiding their warranty, effectively destroying a great piece of technology.
This is not what a technology board should be like.
Reported, and I will link everyone I know this thread, perhaps post it on /b/ too just to show how fucking stupid thinkpad autists really are.
Well, I see they're definitely trying to appeal to my retarded generation: millennials.
i'm one of the anons who suggested showing the keyboard side instead of the back of the lid. but OP's design can still work IF you make it so that the lower right keyboard part and the lower left screen are opaque, the upper left screen has moderate transparency and the upper right lid has a lot of transparency, and a "swooping" effect like pic related but with faint transparent grey fading more as it goes further away from the opaque screen. this would help show that the pic is meant to convey rotation rather than some impossible device. for the swooping effect it would help if every "flap" was at right angles to each other like a symmetric X, but still shown from an angled perspective.
this thread have now 285 posts.
If people are working on something, they can still post it, or just keep it until the 8 april.
Don't create other thread, don't spread the work before the 10.
There is no need to talk about it all the month, it will just increase the probability a retard put it on /b/. The pictures we got are pretty good and will probably do the job. If you can and want to improve the work, you can prepare it for the 8 april.
I'll open a thread the 7 or 8 april so we can talk about it, see what people done, correct the text, and release it with help of /b/
I saved most part of the pictures and screenshot.
That deleted comment shit is horrid, why else would I click on a thread that sounds like it could go somewhere interesting when the best replies are filtered out?
Having said that, sometimes reddit is faster than 4chan for latest events and discussions and stuff live, so I don't even know anymore
Think of the keyboard part as staying stationary, and the monitor as opening up and folding all the way back.
That said, it's too unclear for macfags if we have to explain it to several people on 4chan. The name Butterfly also makes it seem like there is some sort of symmetry aspect to it. The name has no real relation to the actual trick, it's just referencing the image in the fake ad.
Perhaps the panels should be slightly faded in increments, becoming clearer as they move further in their arc from the closed position to the full butterfly (at which point they look the same as the keyboard. That might give it the appearance of motion, rather than the five static panels and a keyboard which the spatially challenged are apparently prone to perceiving, and it would make the clearest image look like the fully swivelled hinge.
I think it's clear to everyone on reading it, but we need a way to visually communicate it.
What did Lenovo do with the Yoga?
Forgot the fucking picture GODAAM<N (ITNAIGNASEDG
it's not that people are stupid, it's that the pic is shit and you're making it worse with the word 'butterfly'. the pic looks completely static and if you interpret it as static then it shows a completely bogus laptop configuration at the top. it should either convey motion more clearly or change it so that it opens up from top to bottom, flapping like a butterfly. you'd have to be a real autist to assume it starts at the bottom right and spins a mathematical unit circle rather than viewing the pic from top to bottom especially since it's called 'butterfly'.
